I completely forgot you're not a resident of the United States. That sucks the commentary is not in that region. I feel bad for you. PM me your e-mail address and all will be right with the world.

As for commentary recommendations/avoidances.

Ultraviolet - Milla on her own didn't work for me, felt she needed someone else there (Director and/or Producer like others do) to bounce off of.
whereas John Rambo - just Sly but it never felt like he was scampering (probably the wrong word) around for something to say - though I'm still not sure if I'm allowed to enjoy this as a kick-ass, explosion filled, limbs flying, body shredding, blood splattered blast of a movie when (as he says in his commentary) it is also a horrific depiction of the real-life horrors being carried out in Burma right now.
Cast commentaries absent of the main actor (Doomsday - no Rhona Mitra) feel incomplete.
and the first Pirates movie (the commentary by the writers) I found most interesting - how the story was cobbled together by taking different acts from different peoples drafts.
and finally , loved the one for Jason X - a bunch of people who loved the series and grew tired of waiting for JvF to get upnrunning, so went out and made themselves a movie (ish) - whereas the JvF one (imho) would have greatly benefiited from Sean Cunninghams involvement - we got Robert Englund to give the Freddy perspective, bring all his history from the previous films, but there was noone to speak with authority about Jason since this was Ken Kirzinger's first time. Sean could have done that.  sad

The commentary is on the UK Blu Ray for Kiss Kiss Bang Bang. I used to have it and have listened to it  smile

a Blu Ray player is on my to-buy list, right under a bigass tv. (3rd on the list is Serenity for the cast commentary  big_smile , the DVD only having Joss's one  mad)

@Fido - I believe it's on both the DVD and Blu-ray. I remember listening to it when I rented the DVD. Last time I checked, the BD was available on Amazon for $6 or something crazy cheap like that!

DVD just arrived and methinks the commentary was just for the US release as my eBayed one contains nothing  sad.
Shoulda really asked the seller beforehand.. darn it mad

Wow. I had no idea England had such a bad rap, or was so self-conscious about its nationality.  Where does the "evil Nazi person" stigma come from?.

iirc all it took was for a small bunch of "England is for whities, everyone else should just go home" people to drape themselves in the flag. Then England, as a country, seemed to willingly accept the flag no longer represented "yay England" but "yay White England". Which is a darn shame as my working thesis is that many of the current woes of society (highest teen pregnancy being one) could be solved/helped if the country was given a boost to its selfworth/self pride, and this could be achieved with the mass flyings of the flag EVERYWHERE.
As for the being like America - current (iiuc) anyone born here to nonUK nationals is considered British (even if they are born in England and go on to live their whole lives in England). I'd love to see England adopt the Americanism of "if you're born in England then you're English. This would quickly remove the easily laid charge that George Cross wavers are celebrating their Whiteness because we'd have a multitude of skin colours waving and proclaiming their "yay England" ness - which'd be awesome. smile.

Why? smile

Because it reminds me how scared the English are of celebrating their nationality. Yes we see flags flying galore during major sports events, but (and I've timed this) from the moment the event is over and when 99% of the George Crosses disappear is 4-8 nano seconds. To fly the flag at any other time and you run the risk of being branded a racist so best not do that. The amount councils spend celebrating St. George's day is less than they spend on bluetac. Though in a few hundreds years that will be mute as there won't be any English people around to put out the bunting. (wish we were like America)

Kinda related - but it bugs the hell out of me that whenever I join a web-group, or sign up to Amazon or other online shopping channel, they don't have England as an option on their pop-up country selection thingy, just United Kingdom. And don't even mention the widespread reluctance to flying the George Cross (flag of England  smile ) thru fear of being labelled an evil nazi person. roll

oh yes, and Monsters Inc - the best "everyone was just radiating big love for a movie" commentary gets my recommendation too smile

Constantine - the best example of "what is a perfect movie" commentary

Quick question: does Bender have the same 'other' meaning in America as it does in England, because I couldn't watch the movie without smirking at every mention of an AirBender and WoodBender etc etc (and yes I am THAT juvenial,  or I would be if I could spell it)

If your registered user number tops 300 by next Friday, can me and my innovative ad campaign get the credit and you make mine "The Master" as a thanqvmuch smile

[edit]

Turns out we're experiencing a cold spell at the mo, so my idea of sticking "March 10th, downinfront.net ?" stickers on lampposts kinda failed as every outdoor surface is covered with a thin film of ice, making things unsticktoable sad

Also, my second idea of sticking them to the arm bars of supermarket trolleys turned into a big no-no as that's basically defacing private property and I don't think jail-bunny would look good on my CV (even if prisons do have better televisions than the crappy 19" 4:3 one I've got now).

So can you change mine to Zombie as a "well it's the thought that counts" thing smile

[edit] oh yes, I did load up your site on one of the supermarkets wireless enable book reader things, so that might get you a couple of guest visitors big_smile

Quick question: did you know what Phi's final numbers were BEFORE you guys picked your movies and added in your votes ? Should I be wondering if there was some anti-bunnyness conspiracy afoot to keep out Roger Rabbit ??????? tongue

According to wiki:
(1) first cut 1977, Spielberg not like,
so did (2) Special Edition 1980 which added bits he liked (yay) but was made to add internal shots of the ship that he didn't like (boo).
Finally (3) Collector's edition 1998 which he regards as his definitive version. (which doesn't contain no darn inside shipness)

Just a thought, but couldn't you have a big "March 10th" button / clickable banner on your main front page so that any new people who come here (possibly via their mobile phones) thru seeing your web address downinfront.net posted elsewhere, well those people will very qucikly be able to find out what so special about said date. ?

btw: is your site mobile phone access friendly ?
