Owen, what TV show were you a runner for? And the guy in the hat that one the comedian competition, has he become known in the UK at all or has he vanished into obscurity?

Well done for reaching the finals, though, that is awesome smile

It was the much-hated 'Famous and Fearless'. As it was live, the job only lasted just over a week - but it was good fun. As far as Hatman is concerned, I have no idea if he is still doing stand up - I've not seen him around anywhere.

Alright, I think I'll play serious now.

I'm a 21 year old Film Production student from Liverpool, but I go to university in Preston. I'll be going into my second year in September, I'm looking forward to this as there is a year long module which involves making a feature film, but I'm not too sure which role I'm gonna pitch for as of yet. I've always been into films since I was very young and I remember asking my mum how they did the dinosaurs in Jurassic Park. She had no idea, her answer was 'a special effects camera', to which I responded 'can we get one?'. I started a hard rock band a few years back and we did pretty well on the local scene, but I'm not to sure what the current status of the band is. I've never really had a job, the only proper paid work I have had was as a runner for a TV show a while back. With any luck though, I'll have some sort of work to tide me over for the summer soon enough. Oh yeah, I used to do some stand up comedy and I got into the finals of the 'Liverpool Young Comedian of the Year' competition in 2006, but I got beat by some guy in a hat.

So yeah, is that enough? AMA

May as well answer my own question before anybody else...I stand.

Do you wipe your arse sitting down or standing up?

Too lazy to write anything about myself at the minute...AMA.

I'm not sure if it's the same overseas, but here they like you to start with some sort of personal statement that usually consists of various corporate buzzwords. (Speaking generally, not industry specific).

I've been in education for most of my life, so I've never really had a steady job. But I'm looking for pretty much anything right now to tide me over for the summer, so if anyone has any tips for CV's/resumes in general - that'd be awesome. Last summer I applied for a shit-ton of jobs, but I didn't get a single callback...I'm hoping to beat that this year!

US blu rays seem oddly thin to me. I thought my Clerks II import was just a weird one.

Synopsis lifted from IMDb

Based on true events, 16 year-old Jamie falls in with his mother's new boyfriend and his crowd of self-appointed neighborhood watchmen, a relationship that leads to a spree of torture and murder.

When I first opened up my Lovefilm account, I decided to look up some 'Top ___ Lists' in order to add more films to my rental list that I otherwise wouldn't have heard of. When I received 'Snowtown' in the post, I couldn't remember adding it - but it was probably in some sort of Top Films of 2011 list. Before watching a film, I can't help but check out the Wiki/IMDb pages. Sometimes this can be a pretty dumb idea because of spoilers and whatnot, but in this case it was a good move. I found plenty of people saying that the film left them confused about the events taking place and others saying it was best to read up on The Snowtown Murders before watching the film. I'd suggest you do too, the Wiki page should suffice.

So, onto the film itself. It's less of a conventional retelling of the events and more of a disjointed experience that tries to paint a picture of what living through this would be like. It's a pretty slow paced film and I think they could have knocked a good 10 - 15 minutes out of it to help with that. Although, I would argue that it is the film-makers intent to give it a sort of 'endurance test' feel - I just don't feel that approach works 100% for me. It took about 15 - 20 minutes to properly get started for me and it did drag slightly towards the middle.

"Snowtown" deals with some pretty disturbing elements, but the majority is not seen onscreen. This is no torture porn flick. The height of the horror comes from Daniel Henshall's fantastic portrayal of John Bunting. Speaking of the performances, they were on the whole pretty good. In addition to Henshalll, I thought another stand out performance came from Louise Harris playing the role of Elizabeth Harvey. Unfortunately, I felt that the weakest performance came from the lead - Lucas Pittaway who plays Jamie. Although it was most likely a directorial decision, Pittaway's performance seems to mostly consist of staring blankly. Some would say this is more naturalistic, but I dunno...I wasn't completely on-board with it. To be fair though, the film did mostly use non-actors - something which I wasn't aware of when I was watching the film. Perhaps if I watched it knowing that, I would have seen the performances in a whole other light.

Visually it's not outstanding, but it does the job. It has that girtty, almost verite-like style which heightens the realism of the picture which in turn heightens the drama and emphasises the horror. Whilst it did work for the most part, there were one or two moments where I wish they had just stabilised the camera a bit more or just had it locked off. There were also a few instances where slow/fast-motion was used that seemed a bit unnecessary.

Overall I felt "Snowtown" was a pretty solid film - especially seeing as it's director Justin Kurzel's first attempt at a feature. I wouldn't call it an enjoyable film as that would be a tad wrong, but it did keep me engaged. Would I buy it? Probably not, but if it was on TV I'd likely keep it on.

Whenever I go to somebody's place, I almost always check out their movie collection. I dunno why, I guess I'm  just a nosy little bastard. So yeah, take a pic of your shelf/shelves/Raiders warehouse to share with us lovely people! Have something embarrassing? Well, so do I...I actually own Transformers...

I'm not showing any DVD's because there really isn't much to show. I went through a generous phase a while back and as a result, most of my DVD's are scattered around numerous different places. Awh well.

EDIT: Replaced original picture with a better one.

'Avengers' Sunk 'Battleship,' Director Peter Berg Says

Or y'know...it's Battleship...

I really enjoyed listening to this (despite never even hearing of 'The Sandlot' before) and I'd definitely be interested in hearing more of this kind of thing.

The topic of nostalgia resonated with me as I do consider myself quite prone to being nostalgic. Listening to this has actually made me question my view/approach to nostalgia and it's made me wonder how 'healthy' it is for you. I'm still reflecting on that, not too sure what my conclusion is.

Such a nice day, yet nothing to do...

I've not seen Rock of Ages, but as I love the whole 80's rock scene, I'm sure I'll have a lot of fun. It's a shame that the Motley Crue movie based off 'The Dirt' has been in development hell for quite some time.

Just watched the movie for the first time (late, I know) and I think it may well possibly be my favourite Pixar film. I dunno though, I tend to feel that way whenever I watch a Pixar film.

Damn, I've just recently lent out my blu-ray of Super 8 too! >.<

Meh, I still like the prequels. I can recognise their flaws, but I still get a kick out of them. I do wonder if I'd feel differently if I were older though.

Was forced to see stereo/3D presentation, it contributed nothing really. Certainly less in your face gimmicky but didn't use it for story telling purposes at all.

Gave good sense of tunnels, and creatures but I felt the space ships didn't stand up as well as Avatar. Generally I found the design good but execution ho hum. Sort of left me feeling I had seen excellent in-game cinematics. Ridley's uncompromising desing sense semmed all dried up, and that sound design? OMG, I was being flogged to death with obvious sound ques right from the start.

Someone tell me where I can go to complain about story... don't want to spoiler anything but, oh dear that story.  hmm

There was a spoilers thread for Avengers, maybe start a new thread? Either that or just use spoiler tags.
