Picking nits here, but Olive Garden has slowly been losing market share. And plenty of Italian places near me are doing great.

Not saying it invalidates your entire argument. Just noting. I'll go back to staying out of it for now.

Forgive the headset mic tongue

My big diasgreement I think is with the contention that we won't have to care. Sure, I won't have to care about spinoff movies - I look forward to Jo'gurl Sala'mii but I mean I keep forgetting that Rebels even exists - but I feel like I'll still have to care about the main line movies. Eps VII through IX need to be good and I need to enjoy them at least as much as the prequels*.

*Yes, I enjoyed the prequels. Just not as much as the OT. AotC was the worst and can we agree that TPM at least felt the closest to the OT? No? Okay, never mind that part then. Continuing on.

I want to enjoy them at least as good action adventure movies. They don't have to be classics - I'll always have the OT. But I want to enjoy them as much as I enjoyed Transformers or Pacific OW STOP HITTING ME

Really though. Boba Fett spinoff egh maybe if I have time to catch it. Zany Guiardians of the Galaxy style, could probably try to see it. But main line VII to IX need to be really really good, so the pressure is still there.

I'll record some over the weekend, at some point when Steph won't stare at me like I've grown an extra head.

Yes yes yes. Two people showed me this yesterday independent of each other. I told Vapes that I'd forgotten some of the sillier bits in the OT, particularly the Han shoulder tap thing. He said that they're generally light bits in otherwise serious scenes, but strung out like that is a great way of showcasing them.

I enjoy both (generally CinemaSins more than Honest Trailers but that's not meant to take away from HT at all, just personal preference). They poke fun and frankly if someone think they're supposed to be serious then joke's on them.

The most serious I've taken a CinemaSins episode as a form of criticism was, "Wow, Jurassic Park only had 37, that's crazy low."

"Oh, my render is - I'm not rendering anything." "Render's done!"

I love how compactly that thing folds up, blows my mind. I've used a jib once or twice but it is not portable at all.

Well, it was worth a shot.

I just wish I knew what Arya's deal was when the Hound was laying there, dying. I didn't understand why she didn't kill him, or even speak. Can anyone shed more light on that (in a non-spoilery way)?

There's nothing really there to spoil - assuming you mean that something could happen later to explain it.  It's all there on screen already.  Arya and the Hound had one seriously messed-up relationship.  Maybe in the end she liked him just a bit too much to kill him after all.  Or maybe she still hated him enough to let him suffer.  The book suggests it's more of the latter, but I like that the show left it more vague.

In my head, she was spending a long time debating whether to let him suffer or get the satisfaction of killing him herself. If it was just to suffer, she might've left sooner. But then she also knew that doing nothing was driving him crazy, and she liked that, so...

Anyway. Really dark path and I love it and am also very afraid of her.

Faldor, unfortunately I'm working, sorry. Would be fun.

I considered it a possibility because for a few moments I thought, "O crap, white walkers." I had sorta forgotten what Stannis was up to so was not expecting him at all.

Interesting. W_D is one of those games I may wait for an eight-gen system for, especially knowing I won't directly be missing out on second screen staying with my 360. It'll also be cheaper by then, too tongue

Tom, what version do you have, PC? I was hoping that the game would have a second screen capability to use your actual phone as Aiden's in-game phone but I can't find anything to that effect anywhere.

Welcome to Dragon Age mods.

...My wife is currently playing DA2 behind me. Modded, though not heavily. Doesn't compare to her DA:O mod that had full nudity... and when she thought she'd disabled the mod when her dad was over and tried out the game, but hadn't...

Hilarity!

Bravo on S1E1 and S1E6. I've heard the music from S3E9's edit too many times for me to bust a gut laughing but it still made me smile smile

Good luck with that tongue

These are fun! Can't wait for more.

I don't have much experience with quadcoptors, or whatever you'd like to call them, but ones big enough to carry a DSLR are definitely going to cost you. For your first one I'd recommend something designed to carry a GoPro to start out with. It'll be cheaper and easier to control the weight of the thing.

Awesome! Hopefuilly it works out.

Yeah, I liked the style of the fighting and found it entertaining, but the cutting was a bit too busy for my tastes too.

Only setup I've used is GlideCam. I love the thing, we use an HD-2000 at work with DSLRs all the time. Unfortunately it sounds like shipping to Norway pretty much kills that suggestion (though maybe look into getting them locally and/or used).

Someone shared that counterpoint with me. I'm a bit confused by it, it seems aimed towards people who would throw money at "Reading Rainbow" without reading or even watching the video, expecting it to come back on the air or be free for everyone forever. They're doing it to take their lonesome little iPad app and expand it to other ecosystems, and to think they're doing more is naive.

However, their bigger argument I find to be flawed. They say that teaching focus is now on getting kids to learn how to read, and that's not what Reading Rainbow does; thus, we don't need Reading Rainbow. But I think that's why we [do need it - kids can learn sentence structure and how to spell most basic words in school, but to get them to read after that is a real challenge. I've known too many people who proudly proclaim, "I don't read for fun." These are the same people that make the stupidest mistakes every day in our increasingly text-based world, because if it's good enough for second grade, it's good enough for Facebook.

In short, school can teach kids how to read, but unless they have a parent who's passing on a true enthusiasm (as I did), they need programs like Reading Rainbow, in any incarnation, to make them want to read.
