I love Cross Fit, I'm just not very good at it yet.

Romance.  If that city wasn't so fucking cold, I'd live there in a heartbeat.

Yeah, I have zero sympathy for the Raped my Childhood crew.  He made three movies I liked and three I didn't (five if you count THX-1138 and American Graffitti).  Big deal.  I gained far much more joy from the original Star Wars than the I ever gained grief from the Prequels.  George Lucas owes us nothing.  I don't have to spend anymore money supporting his vision, but I don't want reparations.

Mysterious Cities of GOld is on Netflix streaming.  I caught up with some the other day.

There's a ton of supernatural hints in it.

When people here me say that I am Brazillian Jiu Jitsu practitioner, they think that I'm Brazillian.  Sigh.  THis is what I mean, people.

Civil Wars are great.  They're gonna be on the Hunger Games soundtrack I think.

Really the best way to find music like this is to track the inspirations.  Mountain music, gospel, mississippi blues, folk, and Black Swan, apparently.

Closest things I could recommend is NickelCreek, Chris Thomas King, Justin Robinson and the Mary Annette's, and the DangerMouse/Norah Jones side project.

FYI, the album was funded entirely through Kickstarter before they got signed.

Ah, Benny "The Jet," Urquidez.  Only Kickboxer of the 70's-80's era that retired undefeated.  I got to do a seminar with him back in 95 and that really helped me understand ring psychology a lot.

Reminds me of the O Brother Where Art Thou soundtrack - You call this style Dust Bowl South?

Well it's not quite the Antebellum south, but that weird period that is pre-depression, post Reconstruction.  Essentially it's when my grandfather grew up, and where he grew up.

I'm a huge fan of the Dust Bowl South era of history.  Her vocals are absolutely captivating.

WELCOME TO FATHER HOOD!!!!  Seriously congrats.  My son is by far the greatest thing I've ever done, and I'm sure you feel the same.  She's beautiful, man.

Chris, this is the standard Ka Mate haka (which, yes, I learned how to do and can perform it if drunk/brave enough) led by All Blacks legend and ACTUAL Orc, Tana Umaga.

And here is where the Tongan national team to do their traditional Sipi Tau VS the Ka Mate.  Shit got real.

I mentioned this during the Fellowship commentary yesterday, but here is the Kapa O Pango Haka done by New Zealands All Blacks.

If you don't have Creme Fraiche available to you, sour cream works as well, but in a slightly less amount, otherwise the sourness can over power.  I'm not a huge chives fan, but as Gordo says, you can put pretty much whatever in there as you desire.  Protecting the egg is the key.

The Balrog Burgers were my own design and believe it or not, that was the first time I ever made those.  They came out pretty good, but I want to tweak a few more things next time around.

It's not so much a recipe as a technique.  And I have no problem saying I got the technique from Gordon Ramsay.

A hearty thanks to everyone who participated in a very singular experience.  It was also nice meeting some forum folk like Paulou and Jeff for the first time, both of whom, along with Cloe Z, made outstanding sous chefs.

I had such a blast and am deeply humbled by everyone's kind words.  Serious Business hat tips go to all who spoke but especially Trey and Mike.  Double special plus thanks to Mike and his roommates for letting me do my whirling dervish routine in their kitchen, I hope I didn't wreck it that much.

The three F's, people.  Film Fighting, and Food, that's how you make a Doty.  Anytime I can combine two of those three with good friends, I am a happy man.  In ten years I'll probably do something similar with Grayson (and whatever siblings Rachel poops out between now and then) and when I do, I will tell epic tales of what his father participated in on this day.  Thanks again, DiF'ers.

I saw WIllWright speak at Comic Con a couple years ago and it was the perfect mix of stimulating and fun.  I always believed that true genius lied in conveying complicated ideas in a simple way, and he is a master at it.

That's a lot of carbohydrates for the first two films, should we expect burpees in between discs?

Not at all.  THe only carbs in the first movie are form the toast.  THe prosciutto melon balls I make are just a scoop of Cantaloupe, covered in a thin sheen of prosciutto.  All fruit and meat.  Like I said, a light palate cleanser.
