Great episode.

Some jokes in the episode made me laugh out loud... yeah I lol'd.
Kinda wish the new name of the podcast was "You can't do that Movie!"

About Tom C. running well
Few years ago Mr. Cruise made a horrendious movie with Cameron Diaz called Knight and Day (2010). If I remember correctly there was a featurette that came with the movie. There the director was describing a scene he had blocked out to Cruise how he would run down stairs and perform a stunt or something like that. Cruise stopped him right away saying "I don't do stairs, it's not a good look for me".

The man seems to know what works and does not work in-camera for him.

I'll add again the picture my friend took last sumer nailing his Oblivion cosplay fantasy.

Hrossaborg - the location of the football stadium scenes in the movie.

Minor Spoilers for episode 5.

  Show
Marty says something to the effect to the detectives "If you didn't get anything out of him, he was just reading you." Rusty is way too smart to be photographed at the crime scene unless he wants to be. He wanted to get into that interrogation room to have a look into their case file.

I'd guess that there is nothing in that storage room that Rusty does not want/needs the detectives to see.

p.s. Are we sure Rusty is still not a cop, now deep, deep undercover?

I'm not the first one to mention this but aside from a the problems with the story, casting Jodie Foster in the role of Delacourt was a kind of a misstep. I've seen the opinion bandied about that the role should have been more suited to an actress like Tilda Swinton. Maybe it's a little too obvious of a choice but I kind of like it.

Yes, the new new Gregor Clegane. Like Tray said "He is the Brute Squad"
Kind of disappointed how plain the sword is compared to the intricate design in the clothes. Hope this is not a hero sword.

Makes sense if they are going the Lovecraftian route to make it an anthology series.

Anybody who ever played Call of Cthulhu (the roleplaying game) knows your characters rarely if ever survived the adventure.

Since Object of Desire thread has been removed...

smile No you sane man...

What I'm thinking is by posting the queue (preferably as a screenshot like we did) we see an honest look at what we are listening to. Warts and all... I sometimes get the feeling when I read podcast threads like this (on forums in general) that people might be editing a little what they are listening to.

Welcome to Night Vale - It's on my list to check out.

How is The Dissolve? Never heard of that one before.
The others I've dipped in and out of.
Stopped listening to Filmspotting when one of them cried (literally) when reviewing Vicky Cristina Barcelona. After that I've just downloaded episodes when they cover movies that are specially meaningful to me.

Post your podcast queue here, warts and all and lets psychoanalyse the lists. Or just mock them.

My podcast queue changes a lot. Some podcasts I subscribe to, others I check in on from time to time.
Here is mine as of last few months.

Just finished watching the fourth episode (they are aired one day later over here)

Guess who will be buying the series on BlueRay*

Few random disjointed thoughts.
That sequence (The Job) might just be a new benchmark in TV cinematography. Part Training Day, part Children of men. Get ready for a deluge of similar scenes in the fall of 2014.

The cinematographer, Adam Arkapaw, gets it. It's interesting to look at his IMDB. Nothing but shorts and documentaries and then Top of the Lake and now True Detective.

I guess I can just go ahead and remove "I don't think Matthew McConaughey is a bad actor" from the unpopular opinion thread.

I got a strong Heart of Darkness vibe in the scenes where Rusty is ingratiating him self to the gang. Is it just me?

Teague asked for silly threads. Time to open up your image editing software of choice.

Anybody want to play a game. It's something I've done off and on through the years. The game is juxtaposing two tv shows or movies, where you take one show and name/logo from another and mix them together.

If you think this could be fun, feel free to add to the thread.

Old one I made probably around 2008. I liked the idea but was never happy with the execution.

So many Showtime shows could have been substituted for True Blood here...

I could have taken this joke one step further and make a sister piece where I put the Lost logo on "The L Word" promotional picture but that would just be so un-politically correct... and homophobic.

Russell Brand: Philip Seymour Hoffman is another victim of extremely stupid drug laws

Russel Brant posted an essay/post on The Guardian website today. It is an interesting read but what stood out for me was this paragraph:

Philip Seymour Hoffman's death is a reminder, though, that addiction is indiscriminate. That it is sad, irrational and hard to understand. What it also clearly demonstrates is that we are a culture that does not know how to treat its addicts. Would Hoffman have died if this disease were not so enmeshed in stigma? If we weren't invited to believe that people who suffer from addiction deserve to suffer? Would he have OD'd if drugs were regulated, controlled and professionally administered? Most importantly, if we insisted as a society that what is required for people who suffer from this condition is an environment of support, tolerance and understanding.
