I would argue that FMJ actually has 6 acts

It got rave reviews at AFI the other day.

Hire a real fucking fighter, give her few lines, lock down your camera, and let faces be fucking kicked.

And if you are wholly unfamiliar with Gina Carano.

Keep in mind that while Gina is good, she's nowhere even near the best female fighter today.  It's just that she knows fighting, as opposed to learning a few months of it.

Weekly Battle doesnt quite do it justice.

I have to tread VERY carefully here...but I do have a friend who is on the writing staff of that show, and I can say that there is a unified front on the Terra Nova side in terms of what they want to do story wise, and it often lies in direct opposition with what the Network mandates.  What Trey describes as the more traditional aspect of Sci Fi is what many on the writing staff are trying to do.  But when the numbers are large, folks on the side of the network actually want to see MORE things like fence building, ditch digging, and other meaningless chores.  The people who write the show actually want it to be a, y'know, SHOW.

To peel back the curtain a bit...

We do have a master matrix of films that was polled by you, our community, from this very thread.  The four prime DiF'ers choose which ones they HAVE to be on, are indifferent to, and don't want to be on, which allows regular sub's like myself and Ryan our appearances.  Usually Teague sends out an email to whoever is going to be doing commentaries by Wednesday, though sometimes its been a week or two in advance. There is usually some discussion about which two films to watch in a taping.  Sometimes its very easy to decide, sometimes it takes some discussion, but usually by Friday everyone knows what and when.  Often, Teague will invite people over to his place Friday night to catch up on it.

One time we were going to do the Patriot, because I suggested it and there are some legit awesome scenes in it.  Brian, Teague, and I sat down.....and PLODDED through it.  We realized how long it was, and how little to say of it we had at the time, and that night pulled a pinch hitter.  SO it's not an exact science by any means.

I brought it up a lot on the Iron Man 2 commentary because I don't buy Favreau's excuse about Iron Man 2's shortcomings being all the Avengers fault.  Same sorta story problems I saw in IM2 I saw in C&A.

YUP.  I don't think my ex is in any of those clips, but she is in the "battle" scene featured in Brad's "editing" "reel."

...and you know how I said no one would ever see the version of The Bacchae that my friend was in?  Apprently, it has its own Wiki.

Eh, you're timeline is a bit off.

They liked the spec script, which was people on an island.  They brought in JJ Abrams, THEN he decided to dd spooky shit.  He introduced a couple things without knowing any of the backstory.  He was just thinking purely from a perspective of what would be cool for a pilot.  He brought in Damon Lindelof and they brainstormed the backstory together.  Then he promptly dropped it in Lindelof's lap, who then brought in Carlton Cuse to be his creative partner.

If you make it work well on the iPad, I will shell out the money to install that Dick Port on the iPad so I can make sweet love to it.

I'm also a bit saddened by this.  I got into this industry early enough to have actually worked a few jobs on film, and while it can be laborious, I miss it sometimes.

I read the script back when it was on the Black List and it was called "I'm With Cancer," and I remember enjoying the read, but curious how it would translate.

For the record, some of us did our semi regular "Help me make this make sense," story sessions last night.  Afterwards we got into a discussion of interviews gone bad.  Much laughing occurred.

I hope you guys actually do the Terra Nova "special" you talked about today. I'd love to hear you fix that show.

Heh, a good friend of mine, is a writer on that show I've heard some stuff from the trenches.  It's....interesting.
