Oh, I will diss Goldeneye, I don't like it, it hasn't aged well and the score is shite. In my opinion, of course big_smile

Not only is that a pretty big typo, but it's bad math, too. The word (or number) you're looking for was not "first", but "third". smile

Yup. The Mayor was the best bad guy the series had. The Master did bugger all, he was trapped underground all season. big_smile

Yeah, I think Goldeneye really doesn't hold up well and the score is atrocious. David Arnold's Bond scores are all great and I remember him saying in a dvd extra that he loves being able to work the iconic Bond theme into them. Then he got to do Casino Royale and that shit Quantum one and was told to hardly use it t all.

I love the use of the twangy guitar part in Skyfall but when I heard it, I thought 'poor David Arnold'. The James Bond theme is one of my favourites of all time despite not being a huge fan of the films.

It's a good one, certainly. And Gregory's Girl, Comfort and Joy, The Debt Collector, Restless Natives, Shallow Grave and Tainspotting  (although I think Trainspotting is overrated, many like it).

And The Big Man (Crossing The Line in the US) starring Liam Neeson and Billy Connolly was filmed in a small town called Coalburn which is near my hometown. smile

Great to see the Tomorrow Never Dies love in this thread. smile

Michelle Yeoh is awesome in it, she's probably my favourite 'Bond girl'.

I would actually say that True Lies' treatment of Helen Trasker counts Cameron out completely. What a hate-filled film that this.

this thread should be about the movie and not endless hand-wringing about how women are portrayed in comic books.

This thread is about the commentary not just the film. The discussion has stemmed from one in the commentary.....

Anyway, I'm out before this thread explodes big_smile

No, but comic books were the heart of the discussion.

I wonder if those pictures in Ellie and Vogue and whatnot are just a way of subtly programming women to think that that look and attitude is the way they need to be to get men...  or something along those lines...

Yup. Like all the dudes in comics being overly buff.

I think the main point is getting lost somewhat, the discussion is about the sexualisation of women in comics. One side is saying both men and women are sexualised equally the other is saying women are sexualised more.

Bringing up Taylor Lautner or women's magazines is just confusing matters. I am seeing a lot of very smart people missing points all over the place in this thread and it is quite disconcerting.

Happy Thanksgiving to all my American DiF friends. I too am thankful for the people on these here forums. You guys are awesome and I know that when I come here I can get good solid thought out debates and gentle fun-poking rather than insults. Another forum I frequent usually dissolves into trolling and name-calling and while I do disagree with some opinions here, I also respect the person for having those opinions because I know they'd respect me for mine.

But then, I am listening to Christmas songs as I type this, so what does the Scottish guy know? big_smile
