soooooo...  Teague was bored yesterday, or... whatever day he put together all those pages... I half expected to see a RickRolled video in there somewhere...

Since it's April Fools, I decided to derail the thread:  Two questions: 1.) Do you prefer using reference images when you model in Lightwave, or an 3D modeling app for that matter, or not? 2.)  What do you call a Baby born on April 1st?

might I suggest Moulin Rouge.  I believe I did suggest it before maybe about two years ago...  It's a musical and it's very tightly cut.  I nominate Eddie Dotty to be a part of this commentary if it ever gets done.

I know some people can't stand this movie and it may not work as a DIF style story structure, but I love this little flick!  I guess this is that one guilty pleasure movie I am allowed...

dear god!  exporting an image sequence of an 8 min. 50 sec. video ends up being just a little over 90 GB!  DUDE!  that's like a 100 times larger than the PRORES quicktime!

what about exporting the image sequence in the DPX file format?  Is that format uncompressed?

I'm actually interested in what you all have to say about Post now.  I always thought offline editing was the best way to handle Red, BMCC, and other 4k to 5K footage.  Just offline, cut the footage, and than online the final cut and export for a day or two.  Bear in mind, this is all theory and speculation on my part.  I've never actually worked with footage of that kind.

I am interested in the "image sequence" discussion though.  You guys kinda briefly touched on it.  Do you always cut in image sequences, or only for special situations?  I've only worked with image sequences one or twice for effects related stuff.

When do ya'll reckon you'll do another live show?  I wouldn't worry too much about people's criticisms of the show.  Everyone has their idea of what you guys should be doing in this show.  I'd rather you guys did the show the way you want it done.

If i could just say that I think the best shows are when you tear a movie apart, even if that movie was one that I enjoyed a great deal when I first saw it.  The first two Spider-man films for instance.  I learn a lot about why movies work the way they do.

Of course, there are other ways of telling a story.  The DIF crew have never stated that their is only one way to tell a story well.  That would be rather presumptuous...

I've only seen zero dark thirty...  I don't feel qualified to vote even though I voted for a lot of the stuff for this year...

this might deem like a idiotic question, but how do you enable hyperthreading on a mac pro?  I know how to do it on a dell pc, but i've never looked into doing in on a mac...

this is an unusual request given the general age demographic of the DIF crew;  might I suggest you do Lawrence of Arabia.  Or maybe any other David Lean epic.  Just got done watching it.  Great movie!  it is on the long side, but it has an intermission and is well worth it IMHO.

since i'm not purchasing until 2014, I'm also interested in seeing what the new Mac Pro will look like.  I may need to purchase a duel processor machine, depending on the answer to a coupla questions.  Eddie, i know your only using a suped up G5, but from what you have heard and understand about the software; are dual processors really worth the consideration?

I'm asking as per the DIF definition of a perfect movie.  I can't think of one in 2012 other than maybe cabin in the woods...

Just saw the flick for the second time.  I did 3D HFR this time.  I general didn't like it.  I'll explain why later on.  This needs some thought as I feel it affects a lot more then just the temporal.

It's okay to not agree with the DIF guys.  Trey has said something to that effect on several occasions.  I've always felt that listening to people whom you don't necessarily agree with is the best way to see how strong your views and opinions are.

Now that it's out on Blu-Ray/DVD, I 'm hoping for The Dark Knight Rises from The DIF crew.  I'm curious how you all felt about it.  I felt that emotionally, the film ends well; but there are so many leaps in logic throughout the movie.  I'd guess that Eddie would take issue with the fact that Bruce Wayne/Batman does not act like he is in the comic.  I kinda did a little bit.

I'll be seeing it in 2D at 24fps cause ya know, it's a MOVIE!!  I'll probably see it in 3D at 48fps the weekend after next.  Maybe before Christmas.

I'd pay to see that actually...  Alice Eve... she's a hot one.  I wonder if they have her playing the bald chick that was in the first star trek movie.  That would be something...  I think she'd look good bald.  Not as good as Sigourney Weaver did though.

I was gonna say Jim Cameron may be a "better" feminist, but he's sorta in the same camp as Joss in that he writes strong female characters of a certain type.  Although, Abyss is sorta the odd ball one in that regard.  I don't think many off us thought the Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio character in that was young.  I always thought of her in her mid thirties in that movie.

I nominate Lion King and Tangled.  Lion King cause it's just an awesome beautiful movie to look at and Tangled because it's CG that feels painterly.

I wonder if those pictures in Ellie and Vogue and whatnot are just a way of subtly programming women to think that that look and attitude is the way they need to be to get men...  or something along those lines...

I haven't tried playing the avengers DVD on my comp yet.  I will say though that I'm getting pretty tired of itunes.  I can't buy anything on itunes without DRM being added to it.   mad
