Have you heard of Teague? We have this great forum I think you'd really enjoy.

Well, that certainly lowers the bar for becoming the center of a worldwide religio-philosophical movement. Can a Temple of Christopher Hitchens be far behind? He got fat and went bald even.

However, I will grant that the editing of the movie seems to be trying to create a love triangle. I just don't think it really is in the sense of the world.

I have no idea how valid this is, so critical thinking glassses on, but apparently Evangeline Lilly only agreed to do the movie if there was no love triangle between the 3 of them. But then in pick-ups PJ basically crammed one in there. Hence why it feels so stilted and hack and slash editted in.

Like I said, could be apocryphal, I just remember reading it somewhere.

Heeey, the one I was able to be there for!! I don't remember it being super bad, but in all fairness I was also over tired and punchy at the time. Looking forward to relistening to it!

Anyhow, this is how I picture heaven. Funny how all our imagination can conjur is "white".

I actually really like the Supernatural (tv show) idea of heaven, where we all just sort of exsist in our own little universe that's a little replica of how we wanted our life on earth to be, rich, famous, a good keg of beer every night, alone and everyone else has buggered off etc.

*Clarification: Not as what I'd actually like heaven to be for myself, but just conceptually, it's way more grounded than a lot of other versions of heaven and it fits well with the rest of supernaturals mythology.

I still can't rationalize the idea of sending your baddest sunabitches humans to the place where the baddest sunuvabitch angel is, and then expect him to torture them.

It's like, how about no, I'm going to take all these guys, train them up and then go invade your pansy ass heaven with my kickass army of human souls. How about that?

Not to go back to the WBC again, but if religion truly made up our basis of ethics, no one would ever have a reason to leave somewhere like WBC, because that's what they grew up knowing. And yet we have interviews with the kids that escaped from the WBC and they talk about how they didn't want to be doing it anymore because they were hurting people. Which i think is pretty solid evidence for empathy overriding religion.

I'll see if I can dig up the interview I saw with the ex-WBC kids.

I had no expectations for Unexpected Journey or Smaug, yet I responded more positively to Smaug.

I went in expecting utter shite, granted. But I can still step back and look at it logically and see that there are parts of DoS that are better than AUJ.

Is DoS a good movie? Gods no, it's still shit, but at least there's a few jelly beans and someone sprayed some air deodorizer this time.

Seriously, 6 of em. You can't ignore that.

/Yeah, not really interested, I'll be really curious to see how he visualizes things (And from the looks of things so far, it's going to be a really pretty movie that way), but as a story/movie, not really interested.

This being the same god who decided all of humanity (that he created) was evil because one chick ate an apple? And therefore no longer worthy of his love unless we redeemed ourselves by prostrating before him?

All this talk of 'he's not going to save everyone' annoys me when there are little kids all over the world suffering or dying. Where is the sense in that? You can say we don't deserve his compassion but when shit like that happens, he just seems like a bit of a dick to me. hmm

I've never understood the idea of an infinitely powerful, benevolent, being that is like "Hmmm...you guys, yes, you guys...not so much. Oh! You guys haven't committed your lives to worshiping me? Well, I guess you can just just go die in a fire then."

I haven't seen Tintin yet, so can't comment, but those pictures are really pretty. I really should get around to it, it's on Netflix I think.

I imagine it'd be a little freaky. I like the happy medium Pixar has been going for (and, IMO, accomplished with Monsters U) where they're sub-surface "fake material" characters and ambient occlusion, with increasingly pretty lighting.

I guess it must just boil down to me liking slightly freaky looking animated movies. Because yes, I too imagine it to be kinda freaky looking, but for me that's the point, not a lynchpin downside.

Because I think:

http://www.filmofilia.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/03/rango_17.jpg

is absolutely fantastic looking.

Pixars stuff is fine, but I've said it before, it's be nice if there was something else out there other than subsurf playdough skin with pretty lighting. Every single animated movie these days has the exact same look and design basically. But anyways, that's an argument for another day, that I've made before.

Nevermind, I should not be arguing anyone right now.

But both of you please answer me something. Do you inherently think it's impossible for a photoreallistically rendered cartoon character/enviroment to work?

Did not even realize Kingsfoil was a reference... I'm assuming when Frodo got the whole stabby stabby thing, Kingsfoil was involved somehow?

I did like the Gimli one though, mostly cause it was a nice bit of humour that wasn't overplayed (read: like almost every other piece of humour attempted in these damn movies)
