Oh, yeah and this was just before Wright and Pegg made Spaced.

Also, it was filmed in Scotland. big_smile

But that's like saying "the doctor, the widow and the wardrobe" is ok because it's got Bill Bailey. It is not. It's horrible. I only didn't mention it because I might be neglecting it.

Bill Bailey was totally underused in that episode. Although even if he had a better role, it still would have been a shit episode. I think The Long Game is a slightly better episode, though. Just.

I love Bill Bailey. He be awesome.

That film looks bad.......except the Richard Briers parts (the old dude who takes ages to walk away from the zombies).  More films should use Richard Briers. Him and Bernard Cribbins. Who isn't in Cockneys vs Zombies, sadly.

I personally think its ok but probably because it has Simon Pegg in it. Although, I do wish he had a better part in a different episode big_smile

Scarecrow is in this movie for no goddamn reason.

While I agree his cameo was a tad pointess, he was in prison (if he got arrested at the start of TDK, that is, which I assume he did) so he was in Gotham anyway. It makes sense that he'd turn up at some point if he couldn't leave the city.

And I had no problem understanding Bane at all. There was one scene I couldn't hear what Gordon was saying, though due to Hans Zimmer being loud.

Night Terrors is the only New Who episode I haven't seen. Those doll faces freak me out. It's not really that, though it's a factor, but I didn't watch the Christmas episode of last year until a couple of weeks ago. If I miss an ep I can't really be arsed going back to it. I shall be watching the new one 'live' this weekend! Can't wait.

I was going to mention The Long Game in the 'worst eps' list above........but forgot big_smile

Apparently, the kid wasn't completely pleased to see the realization of the Absorbaloff, as he'd conceived it at about the size of a house, not the size of an actor.

Really? That would not be practical, story-wise, the stupid kid. big_smile

So, they got Peter Kay instead, don't which is worse actually.....

Love & Monsters isn't very rewatchable in my opinion but it uses Mr Blue Sky on the soundtrack, so it's not all bad smile

The main beef at the time was the American Violence, where as the exact same scenes done by a UK crew wouldn't have been commented on.

By whom? smile

The BBC had a thing about violence in the 90s and as the Doctor Who movie was a big event at 8.30pm on a Bank Holiday Monday, they weren't going to let anything slip through. The scene with the shootout when the Tardis lands was edited for gun violence. This was due a massacre in the Scottish town of Dunblane where a nutjob killed 16 kids and one adult at a primary school which happened not long before.

Even if it wasn't for Dunblane, I'm pretty sure that scene would have been edited anyway as it was pre-watershed and other non-gun related violence was also edited (a neck-break for example).  Besides, if it was shot in the UK, that shootout scene wouldn't even have been included. Not that I blame the US for it, it was written and directed by Brits it's just that the BBC would have been a lot more strict if it was shot here.

Hanna has one of the best long take that leads into a fight scene I have seen in a long time. Must have taken more than a few takes for that one.

Teague- For stories some fans don't like there is -

Love and Monsters- a group of Doctor Who hunters fall foul to an alien, one of them seduces Rose's mum and the Doctor is in it for about five minutes total.
Fear Her- set at the 2012 London Olympics and a little girl's drawings seemingly come to life.
The Idiot's Lantern- set at the Queen's coronation, an alien takes people's faces through the TV.
Daleks in Manhattan / Evolution of the Daleks- two parter that has a human fucking Dalek....and Andrew Garfield before anyone knew who he was....
Aliens of London / World War 3- Two parter that introduced the farting Slitheen aliens. It's an awful story that really didn't need to be two parts. It's also the worst two parter starring Chris Eccleston.
The Voyage of the Damned- Christmas special and knock-off of The Poseidon Adventure guest starring Kylie Minogue.

One that some fans don't like that I do, though is Partners In Crime, the one that re-introduced Donna as the companion. The fat aliens are ridiculous but it was a fun episode, I thought. And it made the genius move of having Bernard Cribbins reprise his role from Voyage of the Damned. Although, now, he is revealed to be Donna's grandad. This came about because the original actor, who played Donna's dad, passed away. Cribbins was brought in and he reshot the scenes with Catherine Tate but in the same setting (on a hill with his telescope).

Oh, and apparently, Christians don't like Jehovah Witnesses because they don't think going door to door is the way to go.....

It's more the bit where the JW scriptures are a bastardized spin-off of the "proper" Bible. But they're not as reviled as the Mormons, whose book is the Fifty Shades of Gray to the Bible's Twilight.

Heh. I know this but that was the reason my neighbour gave smile

Another thing that the girl said (this was yesterday) is that she used to be gay but becoming a Christian made her straight again. I bit my tongue although I really wanted to say something. Previous things she said makes more sense now, like she doesn't enjoy sex and 'nice arse' when an attractive girl walked passed while we were talking. She is definitely not a straight girl and it's worrying that she is trying to hide who she really is. On the other hand, she has got nothing to do with me so why should I care......yet I do.....

Also, I'm amazed that clip of the Irish President is going viral now, two years after it happened.
