It wasn't bad, it was just a Disney movie. If the target audience isn't 12 year old girls, then Disney has no idea how to market it. They even changed the title of the movie because "John Carter Of Mars" doesn't sound like something a little girl would want to go see.

Also, it was pretty bad.

Ha. I honestly didn't mind it. I have seen much worse. I didn't find it offensive, anyway, let's put it that way. Dull, sure, but not offensive.

I have yet to see Battleship, I'm pretty sure that'll be worse than John Carter. I'm trying not to prejudge it....which I have already failed at.

I didn't think John Carter was that bad........

I may go when I get paid next Thursday, it may be a bit quieter then. I didn't see the other two Nolan Batman films at the cinema so I won't bother me if I don't see this one on the big screen either. If I am going it is because it is the last one.....

I wasn't a huge fan of Finding Nemo, it and Cars are the only Pixar films I have only watched once.

Uh-oh, someone disobeyed Zac Levi and filmed the event. You can see a better quality official version of that in the link I posted above, third video down smile

I can't embed these so I will link to them. All the panels from the Nerdmachine at Comic-Con 2012 so far. There is Joss Whedon, Stan Lee, Nathan Fillion, Chuck, Grimm, Doctor Who, Guillermo Del Toro, Robot Chicken, Expendables 2 and a very honest chat with Damon Lindelof and Seth Grahame-Smith. Hosted by Zac Levi from Chuck, this event was for charity and none of the celebs got paid- http://www.break.com/nerdmachine-2012-livestream/ (scroll down for the archived streams).

That's a profoundly terrible idea. Found Footage movies usually work on the strength of having an unknown entity as the antagonist. We already know what all these dinosaurs look like, so there's literally no benefit to doing it found-footage (and any action/chase scenes will be garbage).

Yup. Also, it's a British film, which is a bit odd.

Anyway, I still like the poster even if the film looks really shite.

That poster is very clever. The trailer, not so much.....

I second The Long Kiss Goodnight but I've been trying to get them to do a Shane Back scripted film in a while, to no avail. So far big_smile

Yeah, it has been getting positive reviews so far. Empire magazine gave it 3 (out of 5 ) stars which is still a recommendation.

It may get hurt because of the similarities to The Raid (although Dredd went into production first).

Not really sure who this will appeal to (Trey may appreciate it) but this is location footage of Laurel and Hardy, between shooting scenes from the movie "Should Married Men Go Home." It was recorded March 1928 and it's like a silent dvd extra 70 years before dvds big_smile

It can vary.  At my local Doctor's Surgery, we can wait up to two weeks to see a Doc about something but if it is an emergency you are seen right away. I see what ever Doctor is available at the time but  can ask for one in particular if I wanted to then I'd have to wait until they have an opening (which may not actually take that long, like I said, it varies). Plus, we have Doctors who come to your house if you can't make it to the surgery or if it is out of office hours. For free. In Scotland, our prescriptions are free too while they pay for them in England for some reason, I don't know the specifics.

I have nothing but love for the NHS, it has helped me out no end with various ailments and it has cost me nothing my entire life. Dentists, on the other hand are a different story. You can get free dental treatment if you areon benefits but if you work full time, you have to pay. That is not the same for doctors.

I've been hearing this complaint a lot. I haven't actually seen it yet, but I'm trying to figure out if that's just a factor of having Raimi's Spiderman tell his origin so soon ago or if the movie's just doing it wrong. Because as DiF has pointed out several times, becoming is more interesting than being (Which I do agree with for the most part).

For me, it's because I know the origin story. I have watched all the Spider-Man cartoons and have read it in the comics (when I was an adult).

I fully understand the whole 'but a lot of kids weren't around ten years ago' argument but for us adults who have the first film fresh in our memories, it just makes it boring for the most part. I like the fact that they do change it up a bit (we see Peter's parents at the start) but I wanted to see a new Spidey adventure. I guess I'll have to wait for the next film.

I liked it but I was bored for most of it due to the origin story. What saves that first hour though is the cast. Andrew Garfield is great (although he is a bit tall and.....28 years old) as are Emma Stone and President Bartlet. Also, while I liked the fact that this Spider-man quipped a fair few times, the action scenes were somewhat lacking. I don't want to get into spoilers but the last scene annoyed me a tad. It made a previous event in the film a bit pointless.......

Also, who asks a boy round for dinner with your family on the first date? big_smile
