Anne Francis, too? Damn.

I liked it, i found it entertaining. Good for him.

A lot more bathroom humour this time. And his victim didn't work for me. In the first one it's funny because it's absurd, in this one it's supposed to be scary, complete with dramatic music which is a whole other thing. I'm not interested in the Nadine character at all. It's ironic that he's doing exactly what he criticizes Lucas for doing: reusing old premises instead of doing something new.

I'll be honest; I don't quite get why it's as 'popular' as it is.

To me the Episode I review is a really smart, self-contained short film.

Have you seen the Baby's Day Out review? It's pretty funny.

3 of which are remakes. I miss you so much, 1982.

I watched the Bullshot trailer. Holy crap. It's Benny Hill presents James Bond 007. A tip of the hat for working in 7 or 8 tit jokes in a 2min trailer, though. Did i see a young Billy Connolly?

I'm waiting for DIF to do

The top five Documentaries that don't feel like documentaries.

1) Roger and Me. We follow Moore on a quest to ambush the CEO of GM in an embarrassing interview. Along the way we see the actual subject of the doc - the effect of GM's layoffs on people, like getting evicted on Christmas Eve.

2) Connections. It's about how scientific discoveries are linked. The host is so affable that you forget the lifetime's worth of study he's throwing at you. I like to have a few drinks and watch him describe the military contraption next to him (they call it a G.P.S. receiver), or holding a mainframe disk pack (100 million characters of information), or watch intel employees crawl around on their hands and knees on a 20'x20' printout of a microchip. The end of the series is great where he sums up our options for the future.

3) Hearts of Darkness: A Filmmaker's Apocalypse. Filmed by Francis Coppola's wife during Apocalypse Now. It's as much a soap opera as a 'making of'.

4) Lost in La Mancha. Terry Gilliam starts directing a movie. On the 2nd day we watch a flash flood wash the set away. Then we see the star hurt his back while on horseback. Game over, man. A $15m insurance claim and they own the screenplay rights for the next 6yrs. I'm amazed any movie can get made after watching this.

5) Koyaanisqatsi. I like to crank it up to 11 and treat it as a music video.

Next, top 5 stunts that made you smile.

The Long Goodbye.

The Social Network.

B&W? How about Eraserhead? Oh, i forgot DIF doesn't do comedies.

The first time i ever regretted not being on facebook.

Finally saw this and loved it. I currently can't get past the first 10min of Inception, but i liked this so much i wanted to watch it twice. Fincher's best movie after Fight Club. Great writing, the jumping back and forth in time worked fine. Top rate acting but nobody really stood out for me.

The reason to see it has nothing to do with facebook and/or Mark Zuckerberg being trendy right now (Time just named him man of the year), it's worth seeing for its own sake. I liked the Winklevi, they could've come off as fools but i felt just enough sympathy. So many of the women were airheads, but i guess that was the POV of the main characters.

Because the best way to get the facts of a story is to believe everything the subject tells you.

That's why 'Nixon' is based on interviews Oliver Stone did with the ex-president.

I don't think Stone has to believe you to use your story. A lot of the JFK stuff is bullshit but he'll debate it passionately because he's a shit disturber. And used to make great movies.

There are parts of the film that deal with what happens when you create something with somebody, and the idea grows too fast for one of them to keep up.  It's not a matter of who's right or wrong: any creative pursuit takes a life of its own at some point, and your job is to stay one step ahead of it.  Some folks can't and the relationship with Mark and Eduardo is indicative of this.

But you don't have to be a weasel. He could've told the Winklekvi (love that word) that their idea was crap and walked away. He didn't have to prey on weak, needy Eduardo.

I actually have to agree with the reviewers who have said this is a film that defines this generation. Not in the sense that this is now the "David Fincher's THE SOCIAL NETWORK generation," but in the sense that the character of Zuckerberg (if not the actual person) is a representative of the people of his/our generation.

The film, as a cautionary tale, ok. But not that character i hope. Years ago, Gordon Gekko's "greed is good" was one thing but this guy's too much of an asshole. Besides, what has he actually accomplished? I mean, he's not Bill Gates or anything (yet). He still lives here.

There's a rumour that Fincher wants to make Rendezvous with Rama, i hope he does.

edit: 6hrs later, both my JFK and Gordon Gekko points appeared in a Cracked story (#5). I'm just sayin'.  wink

I didn't ignore it dude, i was enthralled by every word. smile I just didn't have anything other than 'i agree' to add. Let me try again. The commentary was fine. Starting off by basically apologizing and Eddie having to defend the movie took a bit of fun out of it for me but was still a good one.

The "boring" bits are under-rated IMO. I love the scene where Walter tries to lift the ban on group 7 access.
"User requests are what computers are for for."
"Doing our business is what computers are for."
They never talk about what the company actually does, because it doesn't matter. It makes the movie a bit more timeless and more likely to hold up years later. It's like John Sculley (as an evil genius) firing Steve Jobs (as an old man unable to make a comeback).

And the roof helicopter scene is one of the best movies endings of all time.

Also, Cindy Morgan.

The answer is no.

Read these instead.

2  Startide Rising
3  Neuromancer
4  America Gods
5  The Fall of Hyperion

"They're Norwegian, Mac."
