Yep, sounds about normal. And as long as the baby is eating, peeing, pooping, crying and (occasionally) sleeping, they're normal too. You'll find yourself worriedly Googling various symptoms only to get that answer tongue

Pacific Rim was the best massive-robots-vs-massive-dinosaurs movie I have ever seen. They did really well to deal with a bunch of the larger plot problems (why big robots? why two pilots?) right up front. I have a small pile of nitpicks (yes, including nuclear=analog=what?), but it got stepped on by giant freaking robots fighting giant freaking dinosaurs.

Also, after you have a daughter you can't watch scenes of scared young girls. It's...I'm going to stop thinking about it now.

Non sequitur to the current topic, but what happened to Intermission #59?

It bothers me that Vikings seem to always get some sort of Scottish accent. It makes no sense.

So it's not just my toddler that does this? She's in monkey company.

I still want to know how you're going to quilt me into watching cowboys.

Wait, guilt? Oh, that's not as interesting.

Well the forums were...well I won't say dead...I'll say they weren't really alive yet then.

Well he's given a rough outline of the remaining plot to the show producers, so the show could just roll on past the books and the books catch up later. See also: If he dies. He almost seems more concerned about finishing the TV series than the book series.

I also can't see them doing two TV seasons per book for books 4 and 5. I assume they'll mix the plotlines together, but at most you'd get two or three seasons out of the two books. Noooooothing haaaaappens for looooooong stretches.

We're speaking German? Mein Luftkissenfahrzeug ist voll von Aale!

She starts off frustratingly unobservant, but her arc is getting more interesting in the later books.

I did the audiobooks. Haven't a foggy how to spell anyone's name tongue I can pronounce them all though (and get annoyed when the show does it WRONG I TELL YOU WRONG! It's VAY-lar mor-GUL-is)

But I justify it because he's only half-dragon whereas Danaerys is pure (and incestuous) Targaryaen.

FTFY

@redxavier: I forgot about Arya getting clocked at the Twins, and the Hound's not-death. Added to my grr(m) list.

Another bit regarding Jon's Targaryen roots: His stab wound is described as 'smoking' at the end of book 5. Then again, he did take quite the burn from a lantern in book 1, which doesn't line up with dragon blood.

Incidentally, is anyone else annoyed with the number of people who are 'dead' but (probably) not really? Brienne and Jon are currently in limbo. There were Cat and Gregor too, though they are seriously changed and follow the trend towards introducing more magic. Theon got a fake-out death too, and the fake over Arya's sight also annoyed me, though mostly because she just vanished for at least half a book.

I haven't seen AI but I have read Cat's Cradle. Obviously ice-nine froze the oceans.

What Trey said, it's not the dress or the bow. It's the sudden loss of some internal organs and the 'come hither' eyes.

I have to assume, as I haven't read them, that the later Ender's Game books retcon out the gay subtext in the first book. One of the boys was definitely portrayed as a bit feminine, and our heroes were fine with that.

Well the sequel, Speaker for the Dead, takes place about 3000 years after Ender's Game so....no. I honestly can't remember much about Ender's Shadow, but I doubt there is any gay retconing there either. OSC actually has a few gay characters in his books as far as I remember, and most of his fictional characters don't reflect his personal (notably Mormon) views. His non-fiction essay writing is where the "some of my friends are gay, but..." stuff is located.

The author has said that there's no romance subplot, and that that's the reason it took so long to get made - that the studios kept insisting there be a romance plot (in an adaptation of a book about an 8 year old, which is kinda creepy TBH...) - but even if there's NOT a romance sub-plot, they've got the hugging shot and the fact that they've upped the ages to fourteen - sixteen. Idiot kids who don't follow movie news will see this and assume there's some kind of romance thing going on.

Having read the books, these aren't the things that bug me. Making everyone older is pretty standard for movies (see every high school movie ever). I prefer them to get slightly older kids who can act over 7-8 year olds who can't. And in defence of the hug, it's between Ender and his sister. His strong (platonic) love of his sister is pretty central to his character.

Having Kingsley in Maori-face is a bit weird. And I'm not sure why they're focusing on the adult POV when it should probably be primarily interactions between the kids. I guess to give Ford and Kingsley more trailer time.

If you've read the book Show
Wait...they showed the ending in the trailer? I guess you only know it's the ending if you've read the book, but still...

I can hear an opening "The What are you doing movie? archives", playing both off the website and from the download. It's a short 'intro' but definitely there, and there is a "friendsinyourhead.com" at the end.

Sorry, the toddler crashed into bed (you didn't want her at that point anyway), but you can have the baby wipes!

And thanks smile

Can the forum/forums link forward thing work again?

Pretty please?

With a toddler that's currently emptying a box of baby wipes on top?
