Do you think Eric Roberts could muster a 40-watt bulb to Bostwick's arc lamp for Sharktopus? Hell no! And 'hell no!' I say again!
Good lord, the thought of having 2010:Moby Dick get the Rifftrax treatment... the mind boggles.

According to the Asylum folks, the more people put it on their queue, the more likely Netflix will make it available... couldn't hurt...
*no, I don't get a share of DVD sales.
When it comes to Stripes quotes, "I just wish I hadn't drunk all that cough syrup..." is my #1 go-to, with "Lighten up, Francis" a close second.
Ditto that for me: re: the books. But my personal biggest disappointment with the last book was when I realized it was all a big setup for
**the Battle of Hogwarts, involving everyone, and everything we've learned about the place for six books**
I was all like, this is gonna be awesome.
And then... there wasn't nearly enough of it for me. It seemed like it was over before it had barely started. If the last movie fixes that little problem, I'll likely be a satisfied viewer.
Old spoiler: **Snape kills Dumbledore**
New spoiler: **because Dumbledore wanted him to**
Wow, huh? I know, right? Zow!
I thought it was a good thing that somebody attempted a shot-for-shot remake of a classic (Psycho) and it tanked. Hopefully nobody will try that again for a very long time.
The more I think about it, the more I think we oughta get around to Stripes... it's a very different subject, but Stripes is very similar in tone to Ghostbusters - not surprising since it had 3/4ths of the core team who would go on to make GB: Murray and Ramis starring and Reitman directing.
It was a lowbudget flick that became a huge hit, which led to them getting a shot at a bigger budget project based on Dan Aykroyd's wacky ghosthunting script, and the rest is history.
So there ya go, without Stripes there would be no Ghostbusters, says I.
you guys need to do stripes!
I want to party with you, cowboy.
Amazon.ca has it listed for sale on the 23rd, same as in the US... so I imagine it will be available for rental as well, assuming Canada has DVD technology now.
I think it'd be cool if we involved the whole forum in the production of the project. Then Down in Front would *really* be a screenwriting tool.
We could even make a board for it. It would archive the whole writing process for posterity, and if the project gets made, be a very cool resource for future screenwriters to see how ideas get weeded out and developed.
And a great resource for the ensuing lawsuits as well...
If you put a warning in the Terms of Service that all posts in said board become the property of DIF, then maybe.
I'm in. Let's sign some contracts and get some meetings happening.
Wait, so then if I release my commentaries for Ark - which I've already recorded but not made public - then the Pink Five commentaries plus a hypothetical Moby Dick commentary gives me a director tag?
Wow, it turns out there IS something that would please me more...
Holy shit. Barry Bostwick brings it. You go, President Washington. No way this doesn't get picked up by SyFy.
...And then I turn the tables on Trey "the Amazing" Stokes by doing a commentary for it.
Barry does bring it. I was a fan before the movie, I'm a bigger fan now. And bonus, he's a hell of a nice guy too.
I was given a list of things Syfy wants - and doesn't want - in their movies, and followed it as best I could while making Moby. However, I haven't heard yet if we met their requirements successfully. Yes, they have requirements, believe it or not...
Renee and I actually recorded a commentary for Moby already, just as a test. There were audio problems tho, so we may wait a bit and make another run at it. It'll probably end up on her site if we actually release one someday.
Doesn't mean others can't do a commentary as well... nothing would please me more than to see
2010: Moby Dick (6)
at the near-top of Zarban.com... in fact, it would appear just above 2010: The Year We Make Contact, which would be supersweet
Asylum already does most of those notorious Syfy movies - MegaShark, MegaPiranha etc. Moby may or may not end up airing there too, I haven't heard yet if Syfy picked it up.
500 Quatloos that the DVD will have to be destroyed!
Wait - how much would the bidding be for a copy autographed by me, Renee, AND associate editor/doomed helicopter co-pilot Brian Finifter? Hmmm?
I'm told there will be advance copies available for me to pick up at Asylum sometime this week, as soon as I get hold of 'em my Christmas shopping will be done for the year.
Not sure when I'll see Barry next, but I see Renee fairly often, how about a dvd autographed by Renee and I? What am I bid?
2010: Moby Dick! You know you want to see this.
After literally years of talking about bad movies on Down In Front, I decided it was time to direct one. Buy it on video November 30th!
In the case of Dawn of the Dead, though, the "directors" cut according to wiki is a ruff cut done quickly for a festival and the theatrical version is the preferred "uncut" X rated version.
I suppose that's possible, all's I know is that i got hold of a bootleg VHS many years ago that was definitely a longer version of the movie. It may have been a non-US release version, but I really have no idea.
Again, it was kinda cool since I liked the movie anyway, but I wouldn't have shown it to anyone as their first viewing, the released version moved faster and was generally better , IMO. Usually "missing" scenes were cut out of movies for good reason, I enjoy them for their educational/bonus value, but the number of times I've thought "wow, they really should have left that in" have been extremely rare.
theatrical is better, as with many movies the extended is fine for people who already love the movie and want more of it, but a little slow if it's your first viewing.
same issue here, using IE. Started a couple days ago.
just a side note, Sally was married to Dean "Galaxy Quest" Parisot. I had no idea until i read the obit.
Um, Goldeneye...? That or Fallout 3.
Ah, youth.
