That is strange. It didn't show in my thread
Tomahawk wrote:Fun Fact: WAYDM DID talk about LOTR all damn day.
Pardon my ignorance, but what is WAYDM?
Man, no one saved this poor man?
WAYDM= What are you doing, movie?
i wanted to see this movie.
Don't judge me
avatar wrote:yep - me too. I don't even want to know if the reviews are positive or negative, but that's hard to avoid. Seeing the teaser trailer was enough and when the full trailer showed before IM3 and STID, I wondered what's that piece of fluff on the floor there.
I'm in full blackout mode, and I figure that I should see Man of Steel quickly, as it's becoming harder to avoid accidentally stumbling onto details or even feelings that can shape expectations.
For instance, whilst people are really good here on the forum about spoilers, just seeing those fast growing multi-page threads on IM3 and STID was enough to influence me on those two movies. I've still not seen IM3 yet, in part due to the 'controversy' about it that has spilled into other forum threads.
Avoid the Lego aisle too.
Predator vs. Iron Man?
A friend of mine use to sit in our Logic class and monkey with the cube. He once took the stickers off and redid it to challenge himself more.
He was a special kind of crazy
Recently rediscovered a band I used to love in high school (and now enjoy even more)
Given how much folks seem to like IM3, the distaste for this film leaves me a little baffled.
Anyway, it's only a film. None of this is worth a fight over.
You clearly haven't me some Star Trek fans-no one here. Just people I've talked with...
Enders game would PROBABLY work best as a cartoon / anime thing... or full CGI... but who would spend the $ to make such a dark, violent and death-of-innocence-of-an-8-year-old thing? Nobody.
Stick to the book. But make sure pick up the book used or download it illicitly, unless you want to sponsor Orson Scott Cards latter day homophobic insanity.
/Z
I'm sure there is a market for an anime or manga version that could hit the darker themes. I'm sure there is an audience who wants to see an 8 year old treated horrible...
Also, buy the cliff's notes or head to the library. It really isn't worth dropping any money on. Not just because of OSC's politics but because I don't think its that great.
I am terrible at the Cube, so for those uniformed, how do you mean by "layers" versus side by side?
I can imagine it, but I want to make sure it is right.
Read through it, and while I can't really add anything (yet. Relistening to a lot of episodes right now) I am glad that there are good examples of what things are as well.
Not many people here are actually saying it is a bad movie, though. It is fun, it is just that there are some points that certain people have problems with. You should go and see it if you want to, those points may not bother you
Yeah, I needed that. Its not this forum is another one I have gotten in to, and really should take a break from because it can get so negative. At least here, its fun, with some serious discussion. There, it is borderline hatred (and I don't use that word lightly) towards Abrams and his Trek.
Anyway, thanks for letting me vent
Warning: rant ahead.
I'm writing this because you, friends in my head, will probably be the few to actually understand this. If not, you'll at least tell me I'm full of it. Either way, I think I'll feel better.
First of all, I am so frustrated by Star Trek: Into Darkness discussion. No because of spoilers-that doesn't bother me. Not even that it might be a bad movie because I haven't seen it and will reserve judgement until I (FINALLY!) see it. But, it seems that the discussion on the movie can't go five sentences without hate speech of some kind (on the Internet? Surely I jest). Not on this forum-this forum is, well...moving on...
I keep seeing something that makes me hem and haw on seeing the movie, to the point that I want to throw up my hands and say "Screw it! Why bother?" That feeling comes and goes and I really don't know what to do with it.
I want to go see it, but the discussion is wearing me out. I kind of want to see Fast 6 or GI Joe Retaliation just to have some fun...
Am I crazy?

The son of Grand Moff Tarkin wants revenge for his dad, and is going to fuck up the lives of the new generation, who have to run, jump, shoot, punch, and fence, for 120 minutes while shouting exposition and quips until he's defeated. On route, they'll consult Han, Luke & Leia for advice and drop a few catchphrases like 'I've got a bad feeling 'bout this' and 'May the force we with you'. It'll be loud, bright, and fast.
Yeah... no.
And he'll be some augmented super-villain that can punch extra hard.
And he'll fly around in a super-duper big black ship full of henchmen.
And he's planning to build Death Star v3.0. He'll do this by going back in time and extracting the first and second Death Stars through a worm hole just before they were destroyed and then combining them into an overclocked turned-up-to-11 Death Star.
Code named: "The Alan Parsons Project"
Also, anyone remember how Hayden Christensen had to remind Lucas about "I've got a bad feeling about this."? Anyone?
I'm available all next week, starting Monday, so I do hope that Martin will let me back in
Calling the people in FF6 "characters" is extraordinarily charitable.
Yeah...I was thinking the same thing.
Glass Trap With A Vengeance, Live Free Or Glass Trap, A Good Day To Glass Trap... aren't those awesome?
Live Free or Glass Trap-sounds like Office Space with guns
Someone posted that a while back somewhere, can't for the life of me remember where though.
Either way, looks badass, can't wait.
I did it. It was me...I double posted myself
In all seriousness, I didn't recall seeing this trailer so even if it is old news, its still fun
On Ender's Game *sigh*
I really wish they had just passed on the material. Its a decent book, but I think it can't quite work as a movie, given Ender's age, the violence and rather adult themes that sometimes come out with the kids.
Actually, not that I write that, I'm not surprised, now that we have "Hunger Games"
New Riddick movie is called...well "Riddick" and looks to be going back to its horror roots a little:

Ok, I missed that part.
Carry on
Oh darn, she couldn't hear the episode where Teague got fall-down drunk and proposed to The Princess Bride.
Shucks.
But seriously, I'll look into it.
Oh, THAT commentary...I'll have to relisten to it.
Hey, I just discovered Simon Pegg and Nick Frost are making a movie too, all about the end of the world:

Anyone else seen Simon Pegg's new project?
