do Cabin in the Woods this October!
{facepalm} how could I forget! Do Cabin in the Woods!
And you guys should do Dark Knight Rises sometime soon. I wonder if you'd be up for doing Brave too. You guys could do them all in March and call it "Our disappointing Summer movie month!" Or something like that...
maybe put Prometheus on the calendar for March 16,2013. That's just before my birthday.
If Teague and Michael have opposing views on halloween, then I say do that one. Adversarial commentaries are fun to listen to sometimes.
Would you guys ever consider the texas chainsaw massacre? If so, which would you be more inclined to do? The original or the remake?
Now see THAT makes a lot more sense when you put all that together. Thanks for the additional information Trey!
hmm... somehow I thought it couldn't have been THAT simple... I was thinking maybe taxes weren't as stringent or something...
I already knew about the Edison thing. I wonder who actually invented the Motion Picture, since Edison probably really never invented it himself.
hmm... interesting topic. could we have a discussion or history lesson on why the film industry moved out to California in the first place. I know why they eventually moved on down to Southern California, but why did they go out there in the first place?
I agree with the Branco
They're having a four movie Indy Marathan next weekend! I think I know what I'm doing next weekend... Raiders is coming to IMAX between Sept. 7-14th. THAT should be fun.
I've always like Twister as a movie. Well constructed story-telling and good, zany characterizations all around. And remember, the movie earned that melodramatic scene that you guys were talking about when Helen Hunt says: "You've never seen it miss this house and that house and come after you." I loved Phillip-Seymour Hoffman in this movie.
Regarding how people respond to tornado warnings in Oklahoma; you have to understand, during tornado season, there are about 4 different tornado warnings throughout the day sometimes. The doppler system over here is so accurate, that they can tell you the crossroads where the tornado is located, and the direction the tornado is headed in. It's a pretty sophisticated system. There are some people in OK that will actually get in their truck, get behind the storm and stay there.
I wonder if Tom Hardy wore some sort of mask during the ADR sessions and THAT's why is sounds so hard to understand...
that would be hilarious. I say do The Dark Knight Rises before you all leave for Christmas break.
Teague wrote:
What did bug me was Bane's voice. Not the effect, the mix. I'm willing to buy that he's a crazy Batman villain and his voice is all Darth Vadery, but it never once sounds like a guy over there with a weird distorty voice amplifier. It always sounds like people in a room that we're listening to, and one guy who's voice is plugged directly into our ears. I think I would have been almost half-again as on board if he sounded "right."
I don't understand this. I guess once I get it on Bluray, I'll understand what you mean. Being hearing impaired makes it difficult to spot these kinds of things, at least in a theater setting...
I enjoyed it when I saw it on DVD. Didn't catch it in theaters. I couldn't quite understand why it underperformed at the box office. It was a good enough flick. Might be one of those movies that has to "find it's audience"...
The one thing that bothered me was during the first Bane/Batman fight, I thought Bats threw his batarangs at Bane. Bane had some sorta invisible shield thingy that stopped the batarangs from hitting him. I was like "WHAT!?" when that happened. Bane said something after that but I couldn't make it out. I think the venom angle would have worked. If the venom caused Bane to not feel pain, that would be a dangerous thing if Bane was really as strong as they say he was.
How dare You besmirch the awesomeness that is True Lies! I would like to throw my hat in for John Carter. I honestly don't know what you guys thought was so wrong with that movie. I thought it was a good movie.... *runs for the hills with his pants around his ankles.
Just heard about this on the internet. So is this the name of a new shuttle class, or something else?
It doesn't seem like some of the people on youtube think of it as a second part time job. At least not the vloggers... They still don't seem to make the cash to justify making youtube their primary job. For example, CTFXC, one of the more popular vlogs, racks up about a solid 50,000 views a day. Multiply that by 5 just to be generous and they rack in 250 bucks a day. Freddiew get about a million hits a week. Which means that freddie and company bring in about 5 grand a week. How it Should have Ended, one of my favorites, racks in close to 800 thousand hits a week. I think he can justify youtube being his primary job since everything is done in a computer.
you guy have probably seen this on facebook, but I thought I'd mention it here since it wasn't really touched on in this light. That batman logo with the white ribbon is being used to get relief funds to the victims of the shooting. I can see an argument where someone would say using the batman logo with the ribbon makes is an easy way for someone to identify what they are sending their money to. Although I would like to see them use something other than a batman related thing, do any of you feel differently about using the logo for that purpose or do you still feel the same?
Got the day off, and will be seeing the IMAX Trilogy on Thursday night. I imagine Trey is laughing at all of us since we are slapping down 40 bucks to see three batman movies in IMAX... Dark Knight Rising and Bourne Legacy are the only flicks that I'm even interested in this Summer. Did anyone get a chance to see the Hobbit trailer at Comic-Con?
You guys should do Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai
I'm with Invid. I enjoyed the movie for being something different than the trailer purported. Although being hearing impaired, I didn't hear that the theme was supposed to be about destiny and fate. I thought the theme was about family.
someone on here asked about Lawrence of Arabia. The theme of that movie is "who are you". It's about identity, finding out who you are. In the case of Prometheus, they seem to be suggesting that this is the question that David wants answered.
wait... Trey dated a Brady?! That just makes the man even cooler.
looks more like one of those slippers you were before bed, or while wearing a smoking jacket. I bet Trey has a smoking jacket.
