I'm fairly sure he doesn't have a forum account at the moment.
Yet... *ominous music plays*
Actually, having listened to CM for a while, his strength is that these reviews are his opinion-he even revised his "Minority Report" review because it was not constructive but just hate speak.
But, his best work, like DiF, is his prequel commentaries. Probably because it is material that is near and dear to him. Also, he reviews "The Clone Wars" movie, which is good fun too.
Not a bad idea...
David himself hates it (it's his most un-Lynchian movie). Why can't we get a really good adaptation of this popular book? The Sci-Fi Channel miniseries wasn't terrible, but it suffered from a low budget and thick Czech accents. Is Dune unfilmable? It deserves a DIF analysis.
I would prefer the Sci-Fi Channel one but it is 5+ hours long so not exactly an easy commentary to do, even though I would love the panelists thoughts.
Possible intermission on the adaptations?
Someone mentioned David Lynch in the music video thread and reminded me that DiF loves space and politics and should do Dune
OK Go had an interesting video, which I believe was responsible for getting them far more known-as well as inspiring several parody videos:
That makes me sad...
I think it's been clear for a long time, ever since Cumberbatch was cast, that he's not playing Khan. To my mind, the speculation and rumours have been going back and forth over whether he's playing the role of Gary Mitchell (I say yes).
The problem here has been that they simultaneously want to go off and do their own thing but also want to borrow great elements from Star Trek lore, elements that most fans are aware of. So you say Khan and everyone knows, essentially, what's going to happen in the story, and you say Gary Mitchell, and everyone knows what's going to happen. When you re-tell old stories, much of the surprise is taken away, and I don't think the question 'how would this alternate reality Kirk take care of Khan?' is interesting enough for a remake.
I wish that it was as clear to many other fans as you because there is still talk on various fan boards that Cumberbatch is Khan. Its rather amusing as people are wondering how Abrams will pull off Khan
Also, how many dead men are in this picture:
A little bit of an interesting tidbit at an awards show:
For those perhaps unfamiliar, there has been much of a snit of Benedict playing Khan, thus rehashing Star Trek 2: Wrath of Khan and bringing back a classic villain. However, Alice Eve flatly says "He's not Khan."
Make of it what you will, Trek fans, but I am getting excited again. It is an amazing feat that Abrams has managed to keep a lid on who the villain is despite the Internet age.
Edit: Taking this to PMs. Not derailing the thread.

No
All the links I find are dead
Ooh!
When's it come out! And are those cortosis blades?

I get that Card's means of expressing his opinion is radical and I don't completely agree with him. Its just the quick turn towards hatred that I see happening that concerns me.But HIS hatred is okay, tho?
The dude's arguments are WEAK. Most of his arguments (in the links posted a few weeks ago) against same-sex parenting also apply to single parenting and interracial parenting and are therefore flatly invalid.
And his arguments against same-sex marriage could be applied equally to ANYTHING outside the social norm: if science doesn't prove that X is inborn and of equal social benefit as the social norm, then you have no innate right to do X. It's ridiculous.
I'll bow out quickly to not derail the thread. But, I never said his hate is OK. I just get tired of the Card bashing that must happen once he is mentioned.
He believes that same-sex behavior and marriage is wrong. He expresses his beliefs and acts upon them. People disagree with them and work against his actions because of their beliefs.
Great-no dialogue, no discussion, just mud slinging and maligning.
Not sure how milestone they are though I feel that they have some unique work:
Creed's "One Last Breath" featuring a tiger and Stapp falling down a cliff:
Disturb's Prayer video was an interesting controversial video due to its destruction of a city through the course of the song:

Fireproof: You made me feel good on my insides.
Might end up as my sig-great, now I sound like I have a man-crush on Teague
This response is partly inspired by Eddie's post and by the tangent in the "Suggest a Movie" thread.
DiF works for me as a film criticism because it is not the usual "Air Guitar" critique like Eddie was talking *about. It works because it is relatable, sometimes delving into technical items or theory, other times talking but feelings and general impressions. In many ways, its like conversations that I have with my friends. I appreciate DiF's panelists technical knowledge and experience (especially Trey's) but that doesn't mean I need a lot of industry jargon to enjoy the commentary.
DiF really is wonderful as the "friends in the head" because they all are like friends in my real life. Teague reminds me a bit of one of my best friends, with music and film experience, Brian is like my brother with all the nerdiness, Dorkman-well, I'll figure him out; Trey is like the old guys I meet a cons because of my uncle-cranky, opinionated and sarcastic.
They may not be experts in their fields, but I certainly can see having similar conversations at <insert preferred eating location> having a <insert preferred beverage> and talking about a movie.
So bring on the criticism because it makes for fun dialogue
I get where Ash is coming from and certainly have felt that way on a couple of movies, but perhaps the term "dropped the ball" is what is bothering people. I haven't listened to the commentary or watched Looper but I'm trying to determine how the commentary was any different than past episodes. I mean, I listened to Dredd and that was far more story discussion and world building with some technical aspects tossed in.
But, perhaps a new thread should be started...
Interesting subject change here in this thread.
I guess I am curious as to where Ash is coming from because I honestly listen to DiF for their comedy and insight in to what they think of the films why they are good, bad or indifferent. Often the panelists hit me were I live because they are very sarcastic, just like I am, so really its the humor and camaraderie of the panelists that carry the show forward for me. Honestly, listen to the first episode (Episode 1-Phantom Menace)-its behind the scenes, lots of humor and comments about the movie, but the playing off each makes the podcast fun.
As for storytelling, while there is no "wrong" way to tell a story, human history and culture has demonstrated themes that matter to humanity, with archetypes and commonalities being found across the globe. Humanity is bonded by themes that matter to it.
For some reason the tag line of "They would use guns...if they could remember where they put them" seems appropriate here

We don't do it to be mean. We do it to show that it's wrong to like things.
DiF-here to crush your dreams with reality.
Also, wouldn't mind hearing a commentary on Blade. Don't know if that has been suggested before.
How about, I have kids, work and go to school...I don't see movies anymore
Actually, my last Cage flick that I really, really, enjoyed was Next.
Can't remember last Travolta film I enjoyed...again, fuel to my theory that Cage is trying to rule the world.
OH MY GOD I LOVE THE EMPERORS NEW GROOVE
Nic Cage got paid for a Superman movie as its star even though it was never made-true story
I had to IMDB to see what Cage is up to. Seriously, I haven't seen him in a movie in I don't know how long.
And despite Zarban's theory, I am way more scared of Cage than Travolta.
Yeah, Rango is a good idea. I think Trey really liked it. I remember having some sort of a problem with it.
Need an animated double header-Rango and Emperor's New Groove or Ratatouille
