Spaghetti westerns. I don't care which one, just do one.

You know I don't know how much there is to say about The Dollars Trilogy, but those would be some great movies for DIF to do.

also Primer.

Jeff's article about Primer blew my mind, it made me realize how dumb I am.

Primer is up there on my list of best science fiction movies, 2001 being the best, in my opinion obviously.

I will save you the trouble of posting your disapproval Teague.

I rarely follow tv shows anymore, I think the only shows I follow are Top Gear and Doctor Who. And The Walking Dead when the next season starts, maybe.

Watched Clerks for the first time today. I thought that the script was really good, but only the actors playing Dante and Randal could handle the dialogue. The rest of them seemed to be stumbling over every word.

By the way, I haven't seen him in any other movies. Does Jason Mewes start being a good actor at some point? Cuz he was terrible in this.

Jeff Anderson did a really good job in Clerks, considering he had never acted before.

It's altering the shutter speed, not the FPS, but it has a similar effect. When shooting film, a frame of film is by default exposed for half the time it's in the gate, the other half being used to advance each frame forward. So a frame of film shot at 24fps (i.e. 1/24th of a second per frame) has a shutter speed of 1/48th of a second. This is also known as a 180-degree shutter, since the shutter is a spinning disc and the shutter angle is how much of the disc is open to allow light through.

Because digital doesn't have physical media to physically move, it doesn't need to close the shutter for any longer than the equivalent of a couple degrees, so you can have effectively a 360-degree shutter, or 1/24th second exposure per 1/24th sec frame. Longer exposure means more motion blur per frame, which makes it feel something like having a higher framerate capturing the motion.

PUBLIC ENEMIES was shot at 24fps just like COLLATERAL was. But the style feels appropriate for COLLATERAL and not for PUBLIC ENEMIES (and also the effect is less pronounced in darker imagery).

"Mars Attacks!"

I have always found it to be really underrated, maybe its because I saw it when I was still movie stupid*, but I enjoy it.

Plus it had some really kick ass toys.

Well done everyone. We've been going into space for 50 years now! Go on, give yourself a slap on the back.

So another 50 years from now (when I'm 80), what do you think we'll be doing out there? Will we have developed the technology that allows us to cheaply and quickly travel around our solar system? Will we have landed on Mars? Will we have gone to Titan and seen what lurked beneath the ice on Europa?

I wish we could work that quickly, I want to go to space dammit.
