Just wanted to say, that this film is on TV over here at the moment. I'm giving it another go as I was never a big fan, originally. It's uncut, too. Good old BBC big_smile

I didn't make it all the way through Benjamin Button. I'll just listen to half the commentary.

I know I'll get flamed for this (I know Zarban doesn't like it much) but I really enjoy Live and Let Die. It's one of my favourites. big_smile

I've had trouble getting into Facebook today, (I'm trying it as I type this and nothing). It's not all the time though, I have been able to get it a couple of times.

Must be something wrong at this end of the world big_smile

I have a question for Teague. Did you ever establish what the animated movie was that you were thinking about? With a weird looking castle going up into the sky? People in the chat room suggested Gargoyles but I think you were spot on when you said 'Huey, Dewey and Louie, maybe?' I think it was Duck Tales: The Movie.

It's about 8 minutes in.

I know it was ages ago, but I forgot you said it till I re-listened to the commentary. If t has been answered, I apologise.

Listened to the comm along with the film. Can I just say, when Teague asked 'What is Quantum Leap?' I died a little inside, but when Brian sang the theme tune I smiled.

Zarban, can I just say- I don't think you can get most  Film Fever Radio commentaries any more. They stopped doing them and although they still have them linked on their site, you can't actually download them.

Die Hard, Scrooged, Jaws, Strange Brew, Transformers, The Devil's Advocate, West Side Story, Star Trek: First Contact and Batman and Robin are all unavailable from their site. Well, at least, I can't download them.

Just thought you'd like to know smile

I even like Lethal Weapon 4 (though mostly because of Jet Li I guess).

If I'm honest, I'd say 3 is actually the worst one. The last 15 minutes of 4 are too much though, it just drags on. At least the first 3 are 'kill the bad guy- THE END'.

The Director Cut sounds interesting, may have to experience that experience. I give a thumbs up for doing the regular cut as a Christmas movie.

Yeah, I'd go with the original cut of Lethal Weapon, it flows better. And it's set at Christmas big_smile I'd say to Teague to watch it beforehand though smile

Another Christmas based action film is The Long Kiss Goodnight, written by Shane Black. I remember Trey mentioning that film in a commentary once smile

The 'Director's Cut' is too long, there are too many intros to Riggs, with the addition of that bloody sniper scene.  A lot of people are moaning that the new blu rays are the theatrical cuts and not the DCs despite the fact that Richard Donner has stated that the DCs are actually 'studio cuts' and that the theatricals are his preferred versions of the films.

The tag 'actioner' is a tad unfair (not from you, Dorkman, I mean in general as that is how the film is labeled) because the first film is clearly a thriller. The sequels amp up the action, especially the horse's anus that is LW4. On the plus side, it has Jet Li so that's a bonus.

Glad you gave the film a chance Dorkman smile

I've advocated Lethal Weapon more than once, I think it's a true classic.

Agree with this 100%. Fucking love the first two Lethal Weapons. A lot of people said it gets too comedic starting with the second but I think it is still pretty damn dark.

But some of these kids I work with haven't even seen it.  ptui.

That's actually quite shocking. My sister is 18 and has seen them all. Although, I grew up with the films, and kind of forced them on her. Nah, she loves them too.  Hopefully I'll get the new blu-ray boxset for my Christmas. Parts 2 and 4 are available uncut for the first time in the UK, now.

I understand why people younger than me haven't seen them. And yet-

There's a reason why you're my favourite, Brian. Ok, maybe not favourite.....not least favourite anyway big_smile

Sad news. 84 is a great age though, I'd be glad to survive that long and still work. He had a hell of a run and will always be remembered for his (good) spoof work (that's not including Stan Helsing and the Scary Movie flicks he did, obviously).

There's an Irish comedian called Dara O'Briain and his new stand up dvd was released this week in the UK. He is a self-confessed science nerd and he does a routine about the crap science in 2012. He pays special attention to the scientist at the start who says 'the neutrinos have mutated'. Anyway, at the end of his show, he gets Jimi Minstry, the Brit actor who delivered the line on stage to do a bit of role play with him, it's quite amusing.

It is always good when there is an expert on rather than just 4 opinions (which is good too, obviously but it's nice to mix things up).

I agree with Dorkman (and Brian, can't forget Brian) for the majority of the commentary. 2012 is not fun or exciting. It is nothing but a CGI showcase and while those are really pretty, they are surrounded by a lame plot and characters that I just don't give a toss for. Oh, and having about 4 near identical escape scenes is pretty darn desperate.
