Hangouts would work better if we wanna stream it.
EDIT: Another benefit of Hangouts would be having lower thirds with character names and such on.

Changed the textures around.
I'm in.
For the setting, I've wanted to do a Star Wars game since the days of Digital Llama Radio. But I think something original based around the forum itself could be fun.
System wise, as somebody who doesn't really know anything about tabletop RPG's, I'll say go with something relatively accessible and straight forward.
And lastly, I have no job and stay awake till all hours - so I'm pretty much free whenever. Currently in BST.
I wish I still had Derpachu to stick in the cockpit.
I've been posting some stuff in the chat, but for anybody that's been following my progress I thought I'd whack this up here.
I've started applying some basic textures. Still getting the hang of it, but I'm getting there.
Week 002 :: 2 :: Owen :: "Cell 211"
Reason why: I saw this movie a good few years back now and at the time and it was a immense breath of fresh air that I ended up watching multiple times over a very short period.
Guess it's time to watch Evil Dead then!
No pets of my own, but here's an photo I took of my auntie and uncles dog, Ben. Unfortunately the poor guy had some rather big health issues and had to be put to sleep not too long after this was taken. He was an awesome dog that will be very much missed.
Parts sent!
I like to think it's the bastard lovechild of an X-Wing and Imperial Shuttle.
Seems like that wasn't the case for those boxes, so I just went and redid those. However, I did have two cockpit sections of the model overlapping each other, so I managed to get that sorted.
Learning!
EDIT: On further looking at it, there's overlapping everywhere!
So, after watching that video I went to start creating my surfaces and found this little issue.
Only the box in the middle has a face, the rest are hollow. I've tried flipping and making them double-sided, but that doesn't seem to do anything, I'm guessing I didn't have the face selected when cloning the object. How would I go about fixing this? I've got a feeling I'm overlooking something really simple.
Ah, that'll be why the name has stuck out. That video alone was insanely helpful.
Sweet! I've actually watched some of his tuts before, but I never come across this series. I know where the rest of my night is now going!
That's what I get for following a Youtube tutorial with hissy audio!
I had it in my head that UV mapping was the way to go, now it looks like everybody hates it. For something like this, what method would you recommend?
If you can find somewhere that sells time and enthusiasm, you should pick some up - you've got some serious skills there!
I figured out my model had some rogue polys that didn't appear to be doing anything, so I've deleted those and now the UV map looks less scarier (but still a bit terrifying).
Now that is awesome!
I was wondering how much detail tends to be built in to the model and how much is done during texturing. For this, I don't think I really want to go any more complex with the model and make it overwhelming for me during the texturing.
Looking in to UV mapping right now. Hopefully I'll get a start on that later on tonight.
Not that much different, but I'm quite pleased with how it looks now.
I guess it's time to start figuring out how to get this thing textured.
Further detail:
Still not finished, but I'm already really proud of this.
I thought I'd get back in to Lightwave, so I've started modelling a spaceship of sorts.
Still quite a way to go, but I'm gonna keep at it and hopefully get to the point where I can make it look all nice and comp it in to some live action footage.
No matter how mundane a thread, it is some form of narrative - an initial premise with developments along the way. The message board format preserves that and will always allow to you catch up in the same way as everyone else. When dealing with systems that splinter off, you don't really get that as much - especially if there is a voting system. You click on the thread and right away the (arguably) 'best comment' is right there at the top - you save the Princess without stomping a few Goombas along the way. Which I think is great if you just want a basic overview of something, but for a conversation? I'm not sure that's ideal for me.
I don't hate it, I've not seen enough of it to make a proper judgement. I gave the first episode a watch, but I can't say it really gripped me.
