Thanks. Interesting read to be sure. I just wonder at the future of the TV show with Disney at the helm? I know, I know, one more item to speculate. But, it is interesting that they have worked out scripts but didn't bother going further with it.

Oh, come on Teague, the new Star Tours is great.
All the changes were completed a few years back, but if 7 is big they might incorporate new characters into the ride. Nothing huge, just additions here and there, the same way they did with Pirates of the Caribbean after each of the sequels.

I liked the changes they did to POTC ride and it is nice to tie in the movie to film without following the story of the film. I think it was said that Star Tours was more episodic in terms of the movie tie in scenes and not following the films. I think it works well.
And don't lie, Teague: we all know that you rode it 10 times when they changed it

I don't know if I posted at length about it, but I was generally... impressed. Like, "okay, I'll allow it" impressed, in the face of stark hipsterdom about the old Star Tours.
I have a vintage Star Tours mug and classic ship model in my house. Star Tours is a seriously big deal for me. And yeah, they did a great job with the new ride.

At least CNN gets it right - it's not fifty hours of footage, it's fifty hours of scripts that exist. Not even Lucas has a secret hollowed-out volcano where he can generate the equivalent of two seasons of a tv series without anyone knowing anything about it. Nor would there be any point to doing that - George is rich, but he ain't crazy.
Anyway, it's no surprise that they're making noises about a tv series again now that Disney's running things - they didn't buy Star Wars to not sell it to us in every possible way.

I really didn't like the changes they made to POTC (Davy Jones why are you here ruining the narrative flow?) but I think since Star Tours is more of a "let's show off this cool location" thing, adding in new characters to scenes wouldn't be a problem at all.
Really Teague? Once? I haven't even seen the full original trilogy and I've ridden it a few times.

Happenstance of opportunity. I would honestly dedicate a day at Disneyland to just riding it over and over, to get the full experience.
Alas, I did it once on the day I was at Disneyland post-remake, and it was a good experience. I can't lie and say they fucked it all up, I can only say "well, at least this is still a damn good ride."

I'd say making money in the short term and the long term. I see it not just as a long term bet on making more movies but also a short term guarantee of cash flow.

Well 'The Verge' is merely regurgitating what 'The Wrap' is reporting so it's not like there are 2 sources. I put these sites in quotes because I've never heard of either, which essentially puts them one step above my neighbour's tennis partner on the reliability scale, which isn't then helped by them calling their source an individual with knowledge of the production. No shit, what about an individual without knowledge of the production?
No doubt their 'exclusive' will attract lots of hapless souls to their site, which is probably the intention.

Undoubtedly, but, like Holden said, its a huge grain of salt-think Great Salt Lake grains...
But, the Wrap was also posted on IMDB, if that is worth anything...it may not be. I kept reading on the Wrap site for a source, but couldn't find one, so I'll leave it as nothing more than hype and rumor.
