Re: Alien: Resurrection

I was prompted to listen to this full episode earlier tonight after Teague sent me a message about Toy Story rape and Joss Whedon.  I think I listened to pieces of it a few months ago but never finished the full thing. I gotta give a little backstory about my experience with this film so you can truly understand my relationship with it.  I never had a strict upbringing as a kid when it came to the type of movies I could watch. I can remember seeing Terminator and Predator when I was around 7. One of the benefits of my stepdad being a cheap bastard is that he had one of those "special" cable boxes so I was able to watch a lot of stuff that would normally require a rental. I didn't watch all of these movies with supervision and I saw quite a few by myself in the basement. This happened to be one of those movies and I can still remember thinking it was nothing more than average when I saw it as a kid. As an adult, I outright hate the film other than a couple decent moments scatted within mountains of mediocrity.

Anyway, about the commentary, Eddie carried this episode like he was Sam with Frodo on his back on the way up Mordor.

Re: Alien: Resurrection

This is currently on telly. When the alien invasion comes, and they're deciding if our species should live or die, this film will be the thing which damns us.

The clutching the head to the chest to get a frag via the exploding chestbuster impaling the skull would be one of the more grotesque sequences I've ever witnessed. But they normally cut that on TV broadcasts.

not long to go now...
