Re: The Princess Bride
Oh darn, she couldn't hear the episode where Teague got fall-down drunk and proposed to The Princess Bride.
Shucks.
But seriously, I'll look into it.

Oh, THAT commentary...I'll have to relisten to it.

Did this ever get looked into?
That outro did sound like every drunk best man speech I've ever heard. How fitting that Bride was in the title. How accidentally meta.
oh god, I need to listen back to this
EDIT: Man, that's like the sonic equivalent of a guy stumbling down the sidewalk.
I know that stage adaptations have been done before, but this could be interesting...

Still in the baby stages of development, probably because Disney is looking at all the properties it hasn't milked to death yet, but still, there is potential, especially if they do a Broadway musical with it.
So - Cary Elwes has just released a book about the making of 'The Princess Bride'. About the process, the cast and crew. The book apparantly debuted #3 on the NY Times Best Seller List.
He is the guest on the latest KPCS (The Kevin Pollak Chat Show) - on YouTube today.

Enjoy!
Thank you! What a great find.
Incidentally, I just listened to this commentary again, and you guys pitched a "remake" with Morgan Freeman as the hag who shouts at Buttercup.
NOnononononono.
Sam Jackson. THAT'S who should be the hag.
Samuel L Jackson screaming at you makes you scared.
Morgan Freeman screaming at you makes you fucking think about what you did.
Dude. It's a nightmare.
YOU DON'T EVEN GET THE MOVIE!
BLAAAAH!
Post-apocalypse, when all remaining copies of the book and the film have been destroyed, Teague will be guiding a kid through the wilderness, The Last of Us style. One night, they take a seat by the camp fire...
"I'm gonna tell you a story."
"What is it?"
"It's a book. When I was your age television was called books."
"There's no book. And what's a television?"
*glares* "Look, the only way I'm gonna be able to tell you this thing is if I do it all in order. It's a mnemonic thing. Just go with it, alright?"
*sigh* "Fine."
"Now, this is a special story. I used to watch it every night when I was growing up, and then I podcasted about it before you were growing up, and now I'm gonna tell it to you."
"There's nothing to do with zombies in it, is there?"
"Are you kidding? Fencing. Fighting. Torture. Revenge. Giants. Monsters. Chases. Escapes. True love. Miracles."
"The monsters sound like zombies."
"Oh Christ." *takes a slug of whiskey* "Look, I promise, there are no zombies. Well, there may or may not be a bit of reanimation, but it's the good kind. Swear to god."
"It doesn't sound too bad. I'll try to stay awake."
And as the fire burns long into the night, and Teague halts his narrative every so often to check the perimeter, it begins...

Sounds like the opening to a two man show.
Teague and the child eventually run into another, similar pair, but one that places slightly different emphasis on different parts of the story; different "favorite parts" as it were.
This is why the Gospels don't always match up.
Damn, that would otherwise get an applause gif, but I just used two on Prax.
For the interested, a Twitter thread on the historical roots of the real fencing techniques referenced by Goldman in both the film and the book.
Thibault's book is available in a very fine presentation/translation by John Michael Greer.

I expected this to be about the DOA remake rumors.
Cheers for not being that!
There are few things quite as wonderful to observe as someone watching The Princess Bride for the first time.
