I can't believe you didn't touch on the fact that the crash sequence is nearly identical to the crash sequence in Revenge of the Sith.... down to angles and parts of the ship falling off.

Re: Pitch Black

When you guys are talking about the color correction process and digital intermediate, Trey says, "Lord of the Rings was the first film to really work at it and make it a process, whereas before you would just crank the orange knob to make something orange."

I so wanted to be there in the chat so I could make a masturbation joke. "My mom says if I crank my orange knob too much, I'll go blind."

Also, "If your stickling lasts longer than four hours, consult your doctor." smile

Re: Pitch Black

I just realised you changed your name to Teague, Teague.

Re: Pitch Black

Yeth thir. Didn't want to make a new account for myself and have to log out and then in as Down in Front once a week to add an episode, figured people would still get it if the episodes were posted by "Teague," so "Down in Front" is gone and "Teague" is hurr.

I have cake and eat cake and that's good because I like cake.

Re: Pitch Black

Oh sky cake, why are you so delicious?

The thing I like most about Pitch Black is its efficient, economic narrative. The characters are simple, but well established and defined. The goals and obstacles are clear and the story is well structured. And the few genuine surprises don't feel forced or out of nowhere. By all those measures, I'd consider it a "perfect" movie. I've never seen the sequels. Don't know when or if I will, though I hear Dark Fury is worth a look.

It makes sense, we all knew who you were anyway big_smile I was thinking about making a new account to have my own name instead of Shifty Bench as I've had that shit for about a decade. Decided to keep it though. I would have told you about the change first, obviously to avoid confusion.

And I like cake. Cake gooooooood.

Just now digging into this one.  Not to defend MTV, but MTV hardly invented frenetic editing, or bad editing for that matter.

Re: Pitch Black

Dang. Now I have to change your character in Down in Front: The Movie, which I'm basing on this forum's avatars.

Teague and the gang are adventurous investigators who uncover a secret society with the help of their superintelligent orangutan Matt and the disembodied brain of the emminent scientist Professor Holden Hill.

"Shifty Bench" was the paranormal investigator who specializes in furniture-moving poltergeists and who turns out to be a member of the secret society. Who is the leader of the secret society? I'll give you a hint: it's a Harvard-educated stegasaurus with his or her own submarine.

Warning: I'm probably rewriting this post as you read it.

I guess this means I should get an avatar. Let's see if anyone knows what this is.

Re: Pitch Black

I believe that is the fabled blue lotus, prized symbol of the equally fabled Shadow Duel ninja cult, sworn enemies of the Down in Front investigators, worn by their greatest assassin, SHADOW DUELIST

Of course, there's also...

http://downinfront.net/forum/img/avatars/7.png
MAUL II, the evil young clone of deceased master crime lord and former head of the secret society PROFESSOR MAUL, always scheming to take his rightful place at the head of the secret society in place of DOCTOR SUBMARINE

http://downinfront.net/forum/img/avatars/105.jpg
INVID, an evil robot from the future that can transform into a warplane, brought to earth by Professor Maul

http://downinfront.net/forum/img/avatars/9.jpg
ZARBAN, a mysterious 200-year-old sage who advises the Down in Front gang to forget their foolish investigation, as it is far too dangerous and risks their very souls and sanity

http://downinfront.net/forum/img/avatars/1746.jpg
LAND PORPUS, an evil, masked half-human, half-porpoise hybrid created by Professor Maul who can choose to walk around on land on human legs with a porpoise head or swim in the water with a human head and a porpoise tail

http://downinfront.net/forum/img/avatars/2886.jpg
FCW, an unknown insane asylum escapee desperate to join the secret society... if he's not TOO crazy for them

http://downinfront.net/forum/img/avatars/1287.gif
KYLE MONROE, commander of the Pentagon's secret astro-marine brigade, sworn to fight evil robots, freakish hybrids, evil clones, and pretty much anything else that endangers earth

http://downinfront.net/forum/img/avatars/3606.png
MAD BAD COYOTE, a werecoyote whose ultimate goal is to use the evil computer created by Doctor Submarine to find the answer to the question of life, the universe, and everything and use it to RESURRECT PROFESSOR MAUL

Warning: I'm probably rewriting this post as you read it.

I'm really really digging this dude. This needs to be made. (And not JUST because I'm the evil master overlord of the entire thing.)

Re: Pitch Black

Don't see why I should transform into a plane when my natural state is so kick ass smile

Getting back to the actual movie, I was surprised there was no mention of the theory presented in an earlier episode that Pitch Black was based on a rejected Alien script.

Re: Pitch Black

I like this. Holden, any chance we could get, like, factions or something on the forum? Join team Ninja and you get a little lotus icon next to your name or some such. Team DiF - the DiF icon. Secret Society - I don't know, a stegosaurus or a submarine or something? Team Maul II - A top and and monocle? Astro-marines - I don't know.

Since I hunt clones does that mean we have a showdown?

I can still be Shifty Bench, I'll just be played by Jimmy B. Or my character has an identity crisis.

Re: Pitch Black

This is my new favorite thing.

EDIT: And for the record, it's "his" submarine, not "hers". Just FYI.

FURTHER EDIT: Teague, if it isn't too much to ask, I'd greately appreciate a space between "Doctor" and "Submarine". Changing "Doctor" to "Doc" would be acceptable if space is an issue.
