Sorry dude but bullshit, the title sequence has been the exact same for every episode.

And I'd just like to say (concerning episode 7); Jason Momoa makes me feel all tingly in my happy places.

Huh, that's a great way to be totally wrong.

In the first episode: The title sequence ends on Pentos in the east.

Since the second episode: The camera moves to Vaes Dothrak and not to Pentos at the end.

Since the fifth episode: The camera moves over The Eyrie on its way to Winterfell.

I think those are the only canges, but I might have missd one or two...

Re: Game of Thrones discussion thread

Huh...I was thrown off by the wording. Eddie made it sound like the opening was completely different depending on where the episode was taking place. Not just the changing of one location every 5 episodes. My bad.

Sigh, I guess thats what I get for rocking out to the tune and working at the same time.

Re: Game of Thrones discussion thread

I do not like fantasy. Swords and dragons and spells? Knights and jousts and plate armor made of such highly polished aluminum you can see the camera crew reflected in it? Fuck that shit.

Then I watched the first three minutes of the first episode of "Game of Thrones."

I'm about fifty pages from finishing the first book tonight. Got sick of waiting a week to find out what happens next. And if any of you motherfuckers spoil anything for me, I am going to cut off your cocks and feed them to the goats because I am the blood of the dragon.

The last few episodes have been great. Definitely put this show into my all-time favourites. The wait for the second series is going to be agonising.

The season is over and already I'm sad. This was some great television, and you know what, I'm kinda awed by just how faithful it's been. Hope the bluray gets a release soon, hopefully in time for Christmas at least.

But think of how great it would have been if it HADN"T been faithful to the book smile

Re: Game of Thrones discussion thread

Actually yeah. It was really very incredibly good, don't get me wrong. But I think it might've been too faithful. I watched the first handful of episodes — maybe even half the season, I forget — before reading anything, and I had no fucking clue what was going on.

In fairness, I had a hell of a time following the story as I began reading the book, too. Loads and loads of characters, some with near-identical names — the Tullys and the Tarleys? Really? I wanted a cheat sheet more than once.

Re: Game of Thrones discussion thread

There's been a thousands shows that are apparently really good about bullshit I don't care about- Lost, Deadwood, The Wire, Mad Men, whatever.

Now there's one of "those shows" that is about what's been going on in my head since I found out swords existed.  Yeah, I'm suckling at the tit of this show.

So I avoided this thread until I finished the show…

Wow, yeah, Game of Thrones is possibly the best TV I've seen in the last ten years. So amazingly good. I'm knee-deep in Book 1, now, too. Can't wait until I can find out what happens in Clash of Kings.

Clash of Kings is great, but Storm of Swords was knock you on your ass amazing.  Almost done with Dance With Dragons, and while it does feel like the other half to Feast For Crows, it definitely stands on its own with its share of Holy Shit moments.

Re: Game of Thrones discussion thread

While I've got you here, what do you think of the casting of Stephen 'Thomas Jefferson' Dillane as Stannis? I never quite got a good read on who the Baratheon brothers were from the show, but from where I'm at in Book One so far, I can tell Stannis is going to be a BIG part of next season.

Re: Game of Thrones discussion thread

Stannis is indeed a huge part of the series.  He was mentioned quite a bit in the show, but only Renly was seen.  Someone best described him as "The Al Gore of Westeros," and that's not far off.  He's morally rigid, and a brilliant military tactician, but he is the opposite of Renly: he's loved by no one.  While his claim to the Throne is far more valid than Renly's, Renly is by far more popular and able to amass a larger army.  These aren't spoilers by the way.  The second book is entitled "A Clash of KINGS," for a reason.  With Robb King in the North, Joffrey sitting the Iron Throne, and Renly and Barratheon laying claim to it (plus one more mystery guest to be introduced later) the second season is truly going to see war.

I think the casting is a solid one.  I always envisioned Stannis as a bit beefier, and it will be interesting to see Dillane with a shaved head and dark beard.  What's more important is his chemistry with Melisendre.  The chick they go tot play her looks pretty spot on.  The character I'm most interested to see cast is Davos Seaworth, The Onion Knight.  He's a pirate who was Knighted by Stannis and has a pretty interesting arc.

With all of this said....just like Azkhaban was arguably the best book, the 3rd book in A Song of Ice and Fire, A Storm of Swords is arguably the best in the series.  Holy.  Shit.

Ah, did you miss that news? It was a bit overshadowed by the casting of Stannis. Davos is going to be Liam Cunningham, an Irish actor who's been in a ton of stuff but recently I've seen him as the head of the city on Outcasts. Great actor, and I can't wait to see him get his teeth into a GRRM character.

Re: Game of Thrones discussion thread

Hmm, I buy it.  He's got the look of Davos down.  So far, I'm pleased with what Im hearing of season 2.  The part of Lithuania they want to use for Storm's End is nothing short of breathtaking.

Re: Game of Thrones discussion thread

I think both actors are great, except I'd be inclined to have Cunningham play Stannis and Dillane play Davos. My fear is that Dillane's eyes are just too kind and sympathetic, and he usually plays characters who are morose rather than stern and that's just not Stannis. Meanwhile, Cunningham has that perfect steely look.

Re: Game of Thrones discussion thread

Finishing up the pilot now. Yeah, it's a handsome show. The writing and acting seems to be good.

But I'm confused and bored. I'll see how I feel a few minutes into the second episode.

EDIT: Actually, moving on to yesterday's new-show-I'm seeing-for-the-first-time-that-people-have-been-telling-me-about - Carnivale. Got a few episodes in last night. Really digging it, not so much the GoT. I might come back to GoT at some point, but for now, meh. I am glad it's on the air and good, it's just not my thing.
