Re: Twenty Questions.

It's fairly specific, but I dare say there are some more general descriptions of it that would be good enough.

Re: Twenty Questions.

Also, I can confirm that none of Elvis, velour or LEDs are involved.

Re: Twenty Questions.

It's a unpowered representation of something but not merely art and doesn't vary in size.... It's common enough to be seen in movies....

It can't be a statue, painting, cardboard movie advertising standee, or velour Elvis poster with LED lighting.

It has an intended purpose but you wouldn't really need it after a zombie apocalypse.... Is it money?

1) Is it manmade? Yes
2) Is it Zarban's medication? God, I hope not
3) Is it used to build/make something else? No, it is not a tool
4) Do you have to suck and blow to operate it? No, it does not require operation
5) Just like the respirator, is it something a 'Prepper' would store in his fallout bunker? Only for sentimental reasons, not utilitarian ones
6) Does it require a power source? No
7) Is it a fictional object? No
8) Is it a representation of someone or something? Yes
9) Is it a work of art? No, I wouldn't say so. Although it is artful, it is not something you would hang on your wall, nor is its intended purpose to be regarded merely as artistic
10) Is it ever bigger than a normal-sized car? No, nor does it vary in size
11) Is it used in/for any form of entertainment? Although it has undoubtedly been seen in movies, books and on TV, it is not itself intended to be used in or for entertainment
12) Is it something you might give to a child? It's not a toy, but, sure, why not?
13) Is it money? Oo, I like your thinking. But, no, it's not money, nor could it plausibly be used as currency, since it's not that hard to duplicate with the right materials.

Also, being common isn't the only reason something might have been seen in a movie. And, although it is fairly specific, it's an object that does align with the interests of at least some of the regular contributors to this forum.

Note that I'm about to go to work for the day, so responses might be infrequent for the next twelve hours or so.

Let's see it's a representative that has no power, yet is artful and aligns with many of our interests....

Is it the Prime Minister of Canada?

...also artful?! have you ever seen the dude?  There's a reason air farce constantly portrays him as a robot.

Is it bad form to give a hint, since the guesses don't seem to be converging?

Re: Twenty Questions.

Okay. Manmade. Has a function. Not really useful in an apocalypse. May have sentimental value. Representation of someone/thing and arty but not wall art or a toy. Smallish. Easy to copy. Not very common but has appeared in movies. Of interest to some on this forum....

Dildo?

No, no, no! Wait! Wait! You wouldn't give that to a child!

Does it have to do with one of these: martial arts, movies, space, or music?

I don't know... velcro? No, it can't be that, because that's not a representation of someone or something...and it does vary in size.
Crap.

Can it be folded and/or bended? (I'm aware that you said it could be posted in an envelope so...)

Re: Twenty Questions.

Okay everyone, we can do this. I'm gonna put it in the form of a paragraph.

So there's a thing that's pretty small, not much bigger than your hand, and it's lightweight too. And it's always the same size. It's fairly cheap to buy, but not super cheap, despite being made out of common materials - but not paper, for the record, though it is bendable. It's not an entertainment or an artistic item, and it's not a tool. It's not even really utilitarian. A kid wouldn't be particularly interested in it, it's not a toy, but it's safe enough for them to handle if they were so inclined. It's not money, and it's not stamps, and by the way it's somehow related to space. You don't need to power it, and you don't operate it. And it's a representation of someone or something.

Nobody fuck this up, no formal guesses unless you're confident! Let's discuss this among ourselves in the thread, but we'll cast the last guess officially in such a way that fcw knows we're done mulling it over.

For me, I'm hung up on the "it's not designed to be used for playing, amusing, appreciating, or doing."

EDIT: I have a feeling it's cloth. Something cloth, but always the same size. And not cloth that you wear or use to clean.

I only think that because I'm trying to think of cheap materials that are bendable and are not paper. Plastic?

Looking back through the answers, I think a mission patch makes sense.
But first: Zarban, are you currently on a regimen of mission patches?

I think mission patch is the only possible sane answer, given the circumstances. Or a flat koala. Or lobster bib.

I am not taking mission patches orally, intravenously, or rectally.
