Last Night episode was ok it wasn't what i expected it to be to me it had an indiana jones vibe to it and we see the characters grow and so far Coulson, Agent May and Skye are my favorite characters of the show and Nick Fury at the end of the episode Priceless can't wait to see what happens in next week's episode
favorite lines from this week's episode: Nick:"Don’t talk to me about authority. Do you know how much this plane costs? It’s got a bar, a really nice one. Talking to me about authority, you know I have the authority to downgrade your ass to a Winnebago"
Nick:Well, I want it fixed, just like you found it. So don’t have Fitz and Simmons going and making modifications… like a damn fish tank."
Coulson: “Yeah, we’re going to have to kill the fish tank.”
She the Calvary
May:"Don't every call me that"
Well, Agents better get legs soon. New superhero TV shows in the works:

I'm still not sure how to feel about this one. I want to love it, but it's playing hard to get.
It seems like they're trying a bit too hard.
There was a lot of "gee whiz" chit chat in episode 2 to pass the time to the twist, and the chemistry was not working for me. Ming Na is a bright spot.
So far, there's nothing mind-blowingly amazing but... It's not bad. And that seems to be enough for me.
I'm not sure why, but for some reason this show is getting me excited about the Marvel Cinematic Universe all over again. Maybe it's because everything so far had been leading up to The Avengers, and it was so easy to forget that anything would come after that. I don't know.
Part of me feels like it doesn't have to be good, the fact that it exists is enough. Think about it, we're getting what comics have been doing for decades, a massive shared universe. Sure some things will be crap, others awesome, most will probably be somewhat mediocre, but, you guys, it exists. It's happening. It's awesome. Maybe.
*Drunk post disclaimer
Yeah, I agree. Reminds me of what I thought when Castle first started. It's not high art, but then not everything needs to be. It's a perfectly amiable, pleasant way to spend an hour which I'm perfectly happy to stick with for the moment.

Zarban no one says Gee Whiz anymore
Review for episode 3 alot better than last week's episode because we get introduce to Dr. Franklin Hall just remember that name it my come up in the future. I rally like Skye in this episode i am having trouble warming up to Ward i really like Agent may and It was a Great episode and at the end of the episode show we will see Dr. Hall or Graviton in the future.
I really enjoyed episode 3 more than the first two for some reason. I found it to be more fun and we actually got character development.

Yup, same here. The show is falling into its groove.
Also, it got a full-season order today.
It did indeed. The way the ratings are going, I feel that may have been a mistake. They should have went the Sleepy Hollow route and just gave it a second season of 13 episodes.
Well, slightly surprised that this thread seems to have died. Woulda thought there would have been a bit more enthusiasm. I've been avoiding any discussion for the last 10 months because I dropped out after episode 4 (mostly just on at a bad time and couldn't catch up), but I finally went back and watched the whole series.
It definitely picks up, and on balance I liked it a fair amount, but even so Marvel-itis frustratingly rears its ugly head. (There's a spoiler tag in the thread title, but since there aren't really any above, I'll be suitably oblique.)
There's a cataclysmic event which basically drives the plot of Captain America 2 and which has a huge impact on Agents of SHIELD. The show builds up to it really well and it hits with a great deal of impact. I was watching the episodes where it all comes to a head thinking "Man, if these two episodes were the finale of Season 1, I would just be living in front of my television until Season 2 started." (Though there seems to have been a music clearance problem, as the second one is called "Turn Turn Turn" but the music that it features prominently at the beginning is "Don't Fear The Reaper". I like it better with "Turn Turn Turn", but I'll forgive them if they use the Byrds' version of "Chimes of Freedom" sometime near the beginning of Season 2.)
Unfortunately though, because Captain America 2 came out in March/April instead of May, that means all this happens about 3/4 of the way through the season, so they've got this five episode coda that they've got to sort of spin out. They make a decent fist of it, to be fair, but then the actual season finale ends up being kind of anti-climactic. The main immediate fallout more or less appears to have been tied up. The 'cliffhanger' stuff about Skye just feels like small beer in comparison with what's gone before. And the Coulson-related 'cliffhanger', which is the very last scene of the season, just reminded me of M Night Shyamalan, and not in a good way.
I like Coulson's character a lot though, sort of like if Kermit The Frog was the leader of SEAL Team Six. And in general the characters do change/develop a surprising amount during the season, and it all manages to stay just the right side of soap-opera-esque. So I'm looking forward to Season 2, but I'm less psyched than I feel like I could have been, which is a little disappointing.
Hey Sellew!
I enjoyed the second part of Season 1 a lot. I saw CA2 in the theater and had the experience I think they wanted. I think the movie saved the show, actually. Since, before the movie news hit the writers, the show was mostly monster-of-the-week and a how-long-can-we-drag-this-out plot about Coleson.
From comments online, they had a 13 episode plan and toward the end of that they were given an extra 13 episodes and had to figure out what they would do. So, they moved the season 2 Skye story to the extra episodes. AND THEN CAPTAIN AMERICA 2 EXPLODED THEIR BRAINS. The were shocked and had to take some time to figure out what it meant for the show. I think their scrambling was better than their planned stuff.
The only complaints I have:
-I don't want to see a redemption storyline. I like the character but I am sick of bad guys becoming good guys because they were good all along (just really deep down). It's a tired trope.
-I want to see more big events. The comics have had all sorts of things (like the skrull invasion or civil war) that could show up on the show (we won't see that stuff in the movies).
-A special guest appearance by a second tier character is not an event to me. It should be a normal thing. I'd like to see more guest stars and more of the weird of the marvel universe. The first 10 episodes show that we don't need any more 'team investigates a device' episodes.
I expect to see more movie tie-ins in the future. Hopefully, the show will move the plots faster and we'll get to keep seeing some big stakes.

I'd be very surprised if they didn't know the plot of Captain America 2 before going in. Marvel Studios controls both of them, and the show is called "Agents of SHIELD." No way they would've left them scrambling. They want to keep tight control over their universe. Also, didn't this show go straight-to-series? I'm pretty sure they went in with a 22-episode order.

It took a bit of looking but here is a link to the 'extra' episodes of Season 1: http://tvbythenumbers.zap2it.com/2013/1 … er/208257/
That means episodes 13-22 were not written as Season 1 as they were bought after the first part of the season. At best, the staff had some work started for season 2 and they used that to start the 9 more episodes. If they didn't get 9 more episodes, season 1 would have ended (Feb 4) and Captain America 2 would have been between seasons 1 and 2 (April 4). It really feels to me like they had a plan for season 1 and it had to be adapted to work with the extra 9 episodes
I found an article that quotes the showrunners as knowing from the order to series: http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/heat-v … ica-694374
I didn't know that. I think it feels like they didn't know because that's how they wrote. On further consideration, I think they knew they would have about 9 months between the end of season 1 and the start of season 2. Season 2 would open with Shield broken and the agents struggling. The story of how things went wrong around them might be told in flashback. After all, who is going to recall the foreshadowing from season 1 9 months later? So they didn't write any. If they had planned the hydra story from the start, they should have had suspicious things from as early as episode 3 or 4. Evidence could go missing or files deleted and they could introduce the super-suspicious Agent Hand. Hand could tell them "That is troubling. I'll look into it." And, then nothing happens. Then, maybe episode 9 or 10, the teams operation gets screwed. Hand again says "There is an ongoing investigation. I'll take care of it." When we get to the actual Hydra episode where she is super suspicious and armed and asking about loyalty, she looks all the more like she is Hydra. It's been set up. When she is shown loyal to Shield, it matters more when she is killed by Ward. the audience has had time to suspect her and know they are wrong.
Instead, we have a big surprise in a single episode and it hasn't been foreshadowed and there's nothing to look back on and say "maybe that was related".
I love the show. But, I think the writers had to change plans and I now guess it was the extra episodes and having to write episodes to coincide with the CA2 movie, instead of following it.
