Great Commentary!!!! Like a well oiled machine....
OK, I don't know who might read this, and I don't know where else to post this, but you
guys were talking about it on this episode and other episodes as well.
I am referring to The Saw Franchise. Most of you say the first movie was good, and that
at lease some of you have seen part 2. And I know that it is made fun of because it
has 6 sequels.
So I just want to say, as of a couple of years ago I was totally on the same page as
you guys. I had tried to watch part 2 and couldn't much past the "needle pool" scene
before turning it off, and simply blew off the rest of the movies as garbage.
Well I'll have you know that my wife, who really doesn't like horror movies has insisted
on me watching all the movies with her, and this started back when only 4 or 5 movies
had been made, so we are talking 7 yrs ago.
So I think that most people, not really caring much for the movies, might not know that
ALL of the films were produced by the same 2 guys and this really gives the movies a
consistency that I would never have thought would be there. Also when the director
of parts 2, 3, and 4 left, the production designer for parts 1-4 directed part 5 and then editor
of parts 1-5 directed the last 2.
This really gave the movies a sense of cohesion that I did not expect.
So as you can tell, my wife finally talked me into having a Saw marathon
one weekend many years ago, and I was blown away by the story.
Right up to the last frame of the last movie, they wrap and fold the
story from the first movie. And, not to give anything away, but most of the
reveals that we see throughout the movies, is that the events we see the
latter movies actually are happening simultaneously with events in the first
and second movies. They do an amazing job of keeping continuity throughout.
Plus the score as also great, IMO.
I just think if some of you sat down and watched them all, that maybe they wouldn't
be made fun of.
