OH HOLY FUCK
Holy shit I made the front page! I feel both included and insulted, by my apparent need to be a know it all about fairy tales! I love my DiF family. *hug*
AND a new DiF to listen to on an already amazing day! Woot! Perfect way to end the day.
*Finishes finding all the easter eggs*
Teague, have I ever told you I love you and would gladly bear your children?
Holy flurking schnit! A bonus episode! Or is it an early episode? Either way, you're a sneaky magnificent bastard, Teague
And that front page is pretty damn awesome.
Take a guess.
Well, it's after the latest anniversary show, but I'm just curious if it's before or after you did Frighteners/Strange Days.
Only reason I'm asking is that I've sort of become hung up on figuring out the actual order you recorded the various episodes in. I like the idea of listening to every episode in order. It's obviously been a lot easier to figure out after you started doing the liveshows.

We recorded this immediately after the anniversary show, while we had everyone on hand.
So that was the thing you had to do after the show? Sneaky
Oh lord, that is hilarious. I can't count the times I laughed out loud.
i dont think i've done anything significant enough to be mentioned on that front page
It's 'cuz we love you.
Being on the front page of DIF gives my life meaning. That is one shiny page.
Trey's pic... I'm going to go with 1970 Chevy Nova coupe.

yep, with the 307 engine. Maybe not as awesome as the 350, but once I put the 4-barrel carb on it, it was plenty good enough.
Oh, the stunts I did in that baby. Some of which are immortalized on 8mm film in a box somewhere. Good times.
Some thoughts on the actual movie
I never had a problem with the ending and the woman suddenly becoming a pod person, because I think in my mind he was carrying out the replica who was weak from being born and not the real one. For all we know he hiked an hour or so to get to the farm.
For a similar case of studio interference, there's The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari from 1920. While I think there's some debate, it seems the producers insisted on a wrap around story to put all the weird stuff into the mind of a madman which made it more acceptable (similar to making all the Oz stuff a dream, which it isn't in the books)
Haven't finished the whole commentary yet, but before I forget:
Trey's comment on the scrambled eggs/hookers being an endless chain of hatching pods made me wonder...Pods =/= Tribbles?
I'm really liking the gradual, subtle cast shift over the course of the episode. Were you all still just sitting there or did you just swap tag-team style?
Wait... has anyone seen the original four since then?
I do kinda appreciate that as soon as Eddie swapped in he just talked for like 5 minutes straight.
Good chat, DiF. Really enjoyed the gang tackling an oldie but goodie. It's fun to look back on seminal films (tee-hee, seminal) in the Sci-Fi genre. Thought it was funny how you guys "pulled" the starters in the 4th quarter there. Nice to let the others close this particular commentary.
Finally, I got the movie on amazon in demand. Anyway DIF gets a nickel from that transaction??
Thanks again for an enjoyable 88 minutes. Please ,god, don't ever do "88 Minutes."
Other suggestions for Old movies- Forbidden Planet, Psycho, or Night of the Hunter with Doty
We do get a nickel. Almost exactly a nickel.
Anyway, now that the joke-cat is out of the joke-bag, here's a bit of video of the very end of the episode, and post-show.
I just want to thank Cloe Z right now.
And indeed, strong work everyone, great epi.
Ahhh, I see what you did there. Actually, that "finish" works on 2 levels:
1) April Fool's Joke and
2) "Body Snatchers" joke.
I think people listening to it in the future will think that was DiF's own spoof of the 'Snatchers' theme.
Nice work.
I managed to come up with a few titles that seem to play a similar identity card to Body Snatchers.
Disturbing Behavior: Kids are getting brainwashed, and once you're brainwashed you want others to get brainwashed too.
The Faculty: Space slugs in your brain.
The Thing: Honorable mention since the Thing is only ever one person, and not trying to take over everyone at once.
