Gave up drinkin,' but I'd gladly meet up somewhere and eventually carry you to your car.
I don't drink either, but happy to help with the carrying.
And Im a pretty light drinker, so largely Zap, you're scheduling your own intervention.
They have free healthcare where he comes from. Everybody gets a new liver at age 37.
Also, what's the exchange rate? Perhaps he has a bigger drinking allowance now.
Okay, screw the beer. I don't like it anyway.
Mineral water is fine
So, let me float a retarded idea. Wednesday, whenever you have time (probably the evening, with me zoned out into Jet Lag land) ... we do a WAYDM for the "Dark Crystal"?
But only if Trey can, of course.
I've wanted Trey to do Dark Crystal since the dawn of DiF. It happens to be one of my favorite movies...
Just an idea!

So I guess this is where I finally have to admit I only saw Dark Crystal once in 1982 and don't remember much about it?
But if this is going to be a thing, I'm willing to watch it again...
Well, I cannot yet promise I won't be sucked into something else "official" instead. But... I think it won't hurt if you tried to rewatch it?
It's got .... a few puppets.
It may be on Netflix... (it's not on the Swedish Netflix tho).
But I have the DVD.
It was actually the 1st DVD I ever bought.
Before I even owned a DVD player. It was what caused me to buy a DVD player actually!

Zap between this and VFX podcast are you taking over?
Make that a thing. Dark Crystal didn't make my three childhood/adolescent whatever lists for the simple reason that is scared the shit out of me and I didn't even want to thnk about it again until after high-school. Freakin' scary puppets man, worse than clowns.
I'm not crazy about The Dark Crystal, myself... but it's Cloe Z's favorite movie. Lemme see if she'd be interested in hopping on for a commentary. If so, you and her could bring the actual movie knowledge, Trey could pipe up when something involving rods or servos happens, and I'll make observations about the weather.

This weekend, cloudy, with a chance of face eating puppets...
Cloe would be down for such a thing.
Just puttin' that out there.
DOITDOITDOITDOITDOITDOITDOITDOIT!!
It'll give me an excuse to get off my ass and actually watch Dark Crystal.
GELFLING??!
I love Dark Crystal. Scared me immensely as a young impressionable kid. Now I just marvel that someone actually made a feature-length film with puppets which is incredibly beautiful and has a poignant storyline.
[oldmanvoice]They don't make them like they used to![/oldmanvoice]
A feature length film, with puppets... and not a single human being visible.
Is there another such movie?
At all?

Team America and Meet the Feebles both qualify, I think.
There's also Strings, which I've heard of but never seen.
Teletubbies do Dallas?

Trey, I was hoping not to have to use this line on you but... "Those aren't puppets, those are marionettes"
But I give you "meet the feebles".

Marionettes are a subset of puppets. They're the ones with strings.

I'd definitely be up for hearing this. As big a Muppets fan as I am, I've never seen it, so I could use the excuse.
