Topic: Uncomposed - #1 - Film Scoring 101

Hey everybody, we're doing a fourth show now! (I told you we'd be branching out. We didn't go from having one name for this site to having ostensibly two for no reason, god damn it.)

Everyone seemed to really like our immense, four-hour Intermission episode #58 "The World of Film Scores," so I'm absolutely stoked to announce that we've spun it off into a whole show of its own, "Uncomposed."

This first episode features me, Alex Ruger, and Kyle Newmaster from the Intermission episode - in future releases we'll be bringing on Gordy Haab and others to participate in all manner of film-music-centric conversations. I, for one, am powerfully, psychotically excited.

Enjoy!

This was really good, I passed it along to my composer friends, I love it when Teague gets all excited  lol

So, this makes four shows smile On the one hand, I love it. On the other, unless you go back to releasing two episodes a week (as was the case at the start of The Intermission), it's less of the other shows. Maybe that can be a fundraising goal: get so many donations, and we get two episodes a week for a bit. Maybe set up a Patreon.com account. If I can get donations for every story posting, surely you can get a few hundred an episode. (you can now set goals, so getting so many patrons could lead to the release of a new episode)

Re: Uncomposed - #1 - Film Scoring 101

For now, the idea is releasing Something Every Week, and with the nature of this whole enterprise being that it's pretty much the same group of friends in your head on every show, it's simultaneously variety and consistency. Also it gives everyone in the whole crew (aside from myself) a lighter recording schedule, so it no longer dominates a day every weekend for most of 'em.

That said, Patreon looks awesome, and if we could start payin' people for their time on mic that'd certainly have an effect on the landscape. Of course, first we'd have to pay Holden, who as far as I know is still holding my family hostage.

I would also recommend you take a look at Subbable if you are interested in going that route.

It's a similar structure to Patreon (Started by Jack Conte and friends) but Subbable (Started by Hank Green and friends) allows you to set up a monthly donation instead of just every time you produce something. Obviously both have thier ups and downs, I think Subbable currently has a higher profile just because of Hank having ALL the connections to pull in youtubers and other content creators so there's a bigger audience surfing there atm finding new people.

But anyways, I'd say check em both out before you make any commitments.

Well aware of Subbable. Doesn't look like that one's gonna happen.  roll

I don't understand any of this so let's just talk about how much of a beast Kyle is.

Like, that music at the beginning? NOT JOHN WILLIAMS. IT IS KYLE NEWMASTER.

He has quite the apt last name.

Kyle and Gordy's Kinect Star Wars score.

Did Kyle say his name wrong or something? In the outro, after he signed off, he immediately said "Ah, shit." smile

Your mom made me breakfast this morning.

It was delicious.

In an effort to separate my personal character from a fictitious representation of myself, let it be known that I abhor mom jokes.

P.S. This show rocks.
