Re: #44 - Disney Buys Lucasfilm

Interesting read. Personally, its pretty amazing how she focused her sights on Abrams and didn't give up, though i kind of feel for the guy with all the demands on his time. But, that's the business.

Also glad to hear that they are pushing on the story-how the story goes will be a whole other...um, story. I will be curious to see how that goes.

I had a thought and it kind of solidifies my opinion regarding Abrams for Star Wars. I would to see a scene in the next trilogy in which there is a hand off from older generation to new generation. I think that Star Trek 09 had a great scene of Spock Prime (Leonard Nimoy) beginning to think of the action going on on the bridge and then the transition to the new crew making the same commands. Its a great passing of the torch moment and I hope that Star Wars can have a similar moment.

God loves you!

I'll put money down that old Jedi Master Luke Skywalker will serve a similar function.

I honestly am hoping for it. Similar idea to Obi-Wan in Episode IV saying he's getting too old for this sort of thing.

Everyone seen this fan made poster? There are obviously many kicking about but this is my favourite.

Re: #44 - Disney Buys Lucasfilm

Neat poster, terrible tagline.

All these posters insist on being about Jedi. While unlike Trey I wouldn't want them completely excised from Ep7, I do think they should return to being part of the tapestry and not the entire focus of the story.

Re: #44 - Disney Buys Lucasfilm

I completely agree that we've had plenty of Jedi stories now. Obviously, we should be exploring more podracing.

Warning: I'm probably rewriting this post as you read it.

Episode VII had better be telling the full story of Jar-Jar.

Oh. I went too far, didn't I?

Ep VII is about Luke training Jar-Jar in the jedi arts while struggling with increasing tax rates that push his little podracing business near bankrupcy. Happy now?

If this rumor is true, I'm ticked. We don't NEED a whole film to explain Yoda's backstory! The whole point is that he's a mysterious, powerful figure and no one knows where he came from!

Begun, the Disney Star Wars onslaught has.

I expect sometime next week they'll announce the new direct-to-video "Ewok Buddies" series.

It interests me that he says they will be released in the same time period as 7, 8 & 9.

Re: #44 - Disney Buys Lucasfilm

For a moment, I saw that ep VII poster Trey posted as a reference to the crashed ship in Alien. Which would certainly be an unexpected direction to take the franchise in...the adventures of Luke Facehugger and Acid-Blood Kenobi.

I'll be surprised if they actually do Yoda's story or if it will just be a brief vignette about Yoda and his adventures. But, the speculation is more that they want to do single character, adventure pieces, kind of like many of the young adult series books written about Episode 1 except as the journal entries from a character's perspective.
Singular adventure tales about characters could be interesting-it doesn't have to be Yoda. Han Solo has been thrown out there, and I can imagine that Boba Fett might make it out there too.

Of course, in Trey's poster, they crashed the Falcon then discovered something beneath the sands-the spice, melange wink
Then the galactic political games of who controls the spice could start big_smile

Re: #44 - Disney Buys Lucasfilm

Here's an idea, they can have Star Wars themed 5 minute shorts before the real movie's start.
Just fun/cool little side story things like they already do with the Pixar films. Use them to gauge interest in future movie ideas.

It's stupid, but I figure that if all the stupid stuff has an outlet then it's less likely to show up in the real movies. I can always not see it.

Annnnnnd now they're doing Young Han Solo and Boba Fett movies (according to EW).

If you wanted more Star Wars, well get ready, Disney's going to shove it down your throat.
