Re: Pirates of the Caribbean

You guys are kraken me up.

Are we in the third act yet? I want to see Chekov's gun going off.

(Although, strictly speaking, shouldn't Chekov have a phaser?)

Re: Pirates of the Caribbean

Oh, and I've been resurrected, by the way. Remember me, Zarban's old friend from the first page? I'm back with no explanation.

Side note: that was literally the closest I could get to a picture of Doc Brown with his bulletproof vest.

Wait, didn't Zarban die at the end of the last page?

Re: Pirates of the Caribbean

Yeah, but hes the reason we've stuck around to page three.

He HAD to come back within the first 10 posts.

Re: Pirates of the Caribbean

Also, Id like to hear anybodies take on what At Worlds End should have been?

Re: Pirates of the Caribbean

Frankly the sheer hotness of otero in this one makes the entire thing worth it for me.

I'm waiting for the Trey-us ex machina, where it is revealed that we've been puppets all along.

Re: Pirates of the Caribbean

There was talk of me appearing on this page, but unfortunately I am unable to appear because of a scheduling issue.

Aw crap! Trey's cameo was the only reason I even came to look at this page!

(They say Teague's posts were based on him, you know.)

I'm only reading this page so I have the context to understand the drunken raging post I expect Dorkman to make about how shitty this page is.

Re: Pirates of the Caribbean

I bet he'll complain about the new characters randomly introduced with some retconned back story the writers dragged out when they were low on ideas.

Re: Pirates of the Caribbean

Chris mentioned Figwit in the commentary. Now that's a name I haven't heard in a long time... My mind was just blown to learn that he was played by Bret McKenzie of Flight of the Conchords. Clearly there are only so many people in New Zealand.

Dare I say whatever came of the pirates 2 commentary.  Was it...lost in davy jone's locker.  heh.

Re: Pirates of the Caribbean

No, that one got scrapped. We'll probably get around to re-doing it at some point, if the demand is high enough, but so far nobody seems to mind not revisiting it.  cool

And so my "Keith Richards explains the plot of Pirates II" riffs shall be lost to history.

*thinks*

Yep. I'm good with it.

I, for one, am all for DiF exploring the whole PoTC franchise, but then I am a glutton for punishment.

I honestly think that Dead Man's Chest and At World's End suffer from Matrix syndrome. They made a really cool first film, and the studio was like, "Sweet! Make more of it and we will make more money!" However, they took an odd twist to the story, one that, in my opinion, was not in keeping with the tone of the first film.

Agree, disagree, but I think the first Pirates movie was the best. The other two were expensive exercises but lacked any real story telling substance.

God loves you!

Re: Pirates of the Caribbean

As a commentary it was disastrous, but the Keith Richards bits were pretty damn funny.

Maybe pull those out and have them as a forum Easter egg. Send me the file and I'll do it. Unless Trey wants to bury it. We who were there will always have our memories...

Really? I don't remember it that way. I thought it was fine, and I kind of LIKE the second movie, even tho I agree with all the criticism. (I even immediately watched the third one again after the recording session, partly because I totally dig Keira Knightley in that Chinese suit.)

As I (dimly) recall, the Keith Richards bit had some good moments, but went on too long.  Not unlike the movie (zing!).

A judiciously edited selection might be fine, tho.   Feel free to give it a go if you want.  And - I'm assuming - after the LOTR blowout, we're likely doing some kinda 3rd anniversary looking back/looking forward DiF2.0 inaugural podcast, so maybe throw it in there, who knows.
