Topic: Help me identify this movie?

I've had this image stuck in my head for years, it's just a single image from a movie. I could have sworn that it was from eXistenZ, but it wasn't anywhere in there, so now I'm really confused and I really want to figure out where this is from.

Basically, it's sort of like an old abandoned apartment living room, there is a couch on one side, and a TV set that is flickering on the other, the wall behind the TV is partially destroyed, and it looks like there is a lot of space behind, like hallways or something. These organic looking, instestine things are stretched across virtually every surface. It's dark and moody. I'm fairly certain the movie has something to do with this group of people running around in a game, trying to survive.

That's all I can remember. If this rings any bells at all, let me know. This has been bugging me for a ridiculously long time, and I really need to figure it out.

Re: Help me identify this movie?

Hmmm...it sounds kind of like A Nightmare on Elm Street 6. Freddy is controlling a kid in old school video game fashion.

The intestines on the wall thing is throwing me. I thought it might have been Stay Alive (because of the game theme) but I just watched that the other day and there was nothing in there that matched your description.

Maybe Silent Hill? (although she wasn't trapped in a game but it was based on a game and if my memory serves there were some organic gloop in various scenes)

Hope that helps.

Do you remember anything else? You said it's been a long time, do you have an idea how long?

Re: Help me identify this movie?

I never saw the film Stay Alive, but from what I saw in trailers and such, this seems a lot like what you're describing.

Re: Help me identify this movie?

Hmm, I don't think it would be either of those. From what I think I remember the vibe it had was much of like eXsiteZ meets Cube. Sorta sci-fi, thriller, indie rather than straight up horror. Like I said I could have sworn that it was from eXsistenZ, but the movie proved me wrong on that one.

I'm pretty sure I saw the scene probably about 5-6 years the ago, but I think the movie was a lot older than that. Maybe late 80's early 90's ish.

Re: Help me identify this movie?

Didn't they make several eXistenZ flicks?  Maybe it's in once of the sequels?

Re: Help me identify this movie?

This is a wild guess, but maybe it was Videodrome?  Haven't seen it myself in decades, so I don't remember the specific image you're describing, but - it's an '80's Cronenberg with lots of techno-fleshy images and other similarities to existenz, so maybe that's why you thought it was the latter?

Re: Help me identify this movie?

This is definitely Citizen Kane. You're talking about Citizen Kane.

Warning: I'm probably rewriting this post as you read it.

Re: Help me identify this movie?

Actually, that description reminds me a lot of the film 1408 (totally underrated, btw). It has nothing to do with a game, but it definitely has a "destroyed room" theme.

Maybe Virtuosity, with Denzel Washington and Russell Crowe? Has a virtual-reality thing going on, and it's from the mid-'90s.

Re: Help me identify this movie?

@Brano: Nope, no sequels

@Trey: I'll check it out, the quick google image search looks promising.

@Zarban: No it's definitly not Citizen Kane, there was...something with like a snow globe getting smashed...but no definitly not Citizen Kane. Dang what is it?

@DocSub: I'll check out both of those.

Re: Help me identify this movie?

I was going to suggest Videodrome as well.
From what I remember there were no intestines on the walls, but the memory has a way of twisting over time...

Re: Help me identify this movie?

Are you sure it's a movie and not, say, an episode of a TV series like Outer Limits or Twilight Zone.

Re: Help me identify this movie?

It's scary how closely this image resembles what I remember. But imagine crossing this, with the characters from Cube, but with Riddick leading them.

Just watched the Thirteenth Floor and half of VideoDrome, neither of them look familiar.
