Topic: Hm.

There's always like sixty unregistered folks lurking, and over the course of an average day about thirty registered users will hop on the forum to see what's new. Over the course of a week, about seventy different registered folks will have checked the forum.

I think it'd be fun if we had some games or contests or something, just to further distract us from our various  employments. Other stuff to do, in addition to discussion-of-DIF-and-also-everything-else.

Anyone know any fun forum games, or ideas for group activities we could try out? (I'm not a fan of Mafia, personally, but I'm not opposed.) Maybe group stories or something equally lame.

Re: Hm.

glad to be one of the sad people who stop by daily even if i dont post much but not too up on forum activities. I'm mainly on bike forums and one we have is someone posts a photo of an obscure bike/ place to ride (its a bike travel site) and people guess what it is/where it is. could maybe do something similar posting a screen cap from movies and see who can pick them? preferably not iconic shots as it would be too easy..

Just an idea and probably not great but im bored smile

Re: Hm.

I like that idea, actually.

Re: Hm.

The alternate movie title game was fun. And so was the old one where we came up with an airline disaster movie. We could do one where each person tries to come up with a better idea for—say—a Transformers sequel than the actual film makers did. And I always enjoy reading and coming up with ways to "fix" a movie that didn't work.

Warning: I'm probably rewriting this post as you read it.

Re: Hm.

Here's something we could do. Make a title out of completely random words, like The Smiling Vengeance of Mr. Orlando or The Headlamps in the Bushes. The person below you has to come up with the plot of that movie.

Re: Hm.

I love it. Maggot and Doc Sub, start threads in the off topic board stating the rules of the game and start it off.

Zarban, I like the idea of yours if it's something along the lines of Doc Sub's system, where someone posts a bad movie, and the person below responds with a better plot and lists a new bad movie for the next person. If you wanna go with that, thread-ify yourself. If not, ESPLAIN, LUCY

Re: Hm.

Well if it's a problem with the drive itself you may well be SOL, unless you've got a spare DVD drive kicking around, in which case you can use one of these.  In fact I recommend that anyone at all competent with PC hardware should have one of those in their toolbox.

Try playing the DVDs in VLC; you can only frame advance forward (E), but once you find the frame you want just right click the window and select "Snapshot." Oh, and set where you want your snapshots to go in preferences, natch.

Good luck, sounds like an interesting game if we can get it going.
