Inara: Also, I can kill you with my sex.
Win.
And double win for Inara.
Something tells me Zoe can kill you with her sex too.
And Nathan Fillion, not Mal, but Nathan.
Just finished the commentary. Was really good. One thing I wasn't such a fan of was how they glossed over River's moment just before she goes into her dance of death.
Every time I see that scene, heck, sometimes even when I just think about how she delivers the line "My turn" I get teary eyed. Very poignant line, delivered perfectly. Hits me right in the heartstrings.
I just got done watching firefly the series for the 1st time. It was one of the best sci fi shows i have ever seen. I didnt fall in love with the setting and think the world they created was so far fetched and heavy handed with the western imagery. I would have liked to see that be more subtle. That said the characters were absolutely awesome and I loved the show.
I had scene serenity a couple of years ago. It does not hold up on its own at all. There are alot of things in the movie that make assumptions that you know and care about what happens to the characters because you saw the show. It came across poorly to me. It really reminded me off b rate sci fi like Virus with Jamie lee curtis and movies of that ilk.
After seeing the show I am really glad it was made. Even you guys point out how it seemed as if they pushed a whole season into a 2 hr movie. I did enjoy it afterwards.
Just wanted to throw my 2c in as someone who had seen the movie before the show.
So I watched all of Firefly and Serenity today.
That was awesome
Kaylee is my favorite. She's adorable :)
I've never wanted to kill Peter Dinklage before... but NOONE rolls their eyes at Firefly while I'm around.
Love Firefly and Serenity. And since I can't remember if it was mentioned on the commentary (I listened to it a few weeks ago), Morena Baccarin also admitted that Inara's story arc involved her having a terminal illness, which was why she was on the ship in the first place. Would've loved to see that arc play out - the pain, the angst... Joss would've milked that one for all it's worth!
Also, given that Joss cast Alan Tudyk in Dollhouse and Alan has many times publicly lamented Wash's death in the movie, I don't think any speculation that there was a falling out between them, or that Tudyk wanted to leave the franchise (what franchise?!) is anything other than speculation.
And for the record, the second half of season 2 and season 3 of Buffy are the best, but Season 4 has "Hush", "Who Are You?" and (most of all) "Restless" (my favourite episode of all) ... season 5 has "The Body".... and season 6 has "Once More, With Feeling" and "Normal Again". Those episodes (almost all written by Joss) are fascinating episodes of television, all in some way pushing the boundaries of what we're used to seeing, and they all work really well. (Whether you could watch any of them without prior knowledge, I'm not sure. Probably not. But they're fun.)

the final episode of buffy aired ten years ago last night. *raises glass*
I looked up that crazy feminist rant, by the way, and by crikey....
But have you all seen this? Because really, if you think about it, Firefly is also full of "hateful anti-male propaganda"
"The pilot is an hour and a half of sheer torture. It's so abhorrent that Fox of all stations was so scared of it that they refused to air it and requested a new pilot.
Who can blame that wise station?
The episode opens with some gratuitous shots of males being slaughtered..."

Hee hee.
