Isn’t that what’s happening right now?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Drone_atta … Statistics

If Iron Patriot existed in the real world he'd be blowing shit up in the middle east right now.

Wow, almost 900 civilians inadvertently killed. Dunno if that's fixing things or creating even more enemies in aggrieved family members and survivors. With the capture/kill program casualties added to the drones, (Nobel Peace Prize winning) Obama will be in four-figure territory and may even get near 9/11 figures by the end of his presidency. Nevertheless, that's a relatively low innocent body count for a post-WWII US president. Most of his predecessors had far more blood on their hands.

not long to go now...

Re: Let's discuss Iron Man 3. [SPOILERS]

Facts of life, US is pretty much always at war with someone, at least this time we're using technology to minimize the collateral damage. I'll take drone strikes any day of the week over ground invasion, where you're looking at massive civilian casualties, not to mention ripple effects that can cause instability and civil war.
Morally right it may not be, but we never really have been.

Re: Let's discuss Iron Man 3. [SPOILERS]

I disliked this movie because of the blatant disregard for the source material. Extremis written by Warren Ellis is a great Iron Man story that is compelling and thought provoking. I understand that compromises are a necessity for writing commercial material, but what Shane Black wrote is almost unrecognizable.

i can't believe how much response this thread has gotten based on a conversation i was having with dave beforehand, any rage i had towards this film has died out and honestly cant say i've given it any more thought. a crap film about as entertaining as transformers and i wont be revisiting it

I strongly support a thread hijack in favour of predator  big_smile

I just saw it. Thought it blew Avengers out of the water, personally.

Hooray!

Re: Let's discuss Iron Man 3. [SPOILERS]

I'm bringing the thread back because I found some interesting things.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GiZRuOxiCGw the original animatic of the Malibu mansion attack. Some interesting ideas there and imho the whole sequence feels more energetic with higher stakes compared to the film. Also it makes a bit more sense.

https://youtu.be/UEDP5dRBvNY?t=110 a different take on the ending battle taken from the 'art of iron man 3 book'. This explains why there were so many suits in the movie and to be honest I'm a bit bummed that we didn't get to see at leas a couple of these concepts on the big screen.
