I legitimately gasped when she asked about Thrawn.

Also, her sabers also light and retract with a different sound than what we're used to. Maybe whatever is causing that also makes them silent. Also also, Galaxy's Edge sells replica hilts of those sabers and I want them so badly but they're $200 sad

So, COVID has taken out movie theaters. While this is obviously terrible for the people who made their livelihoods projecting movies, cleaning theaters, and selling us delicious, delicious popcorn and overpriced sodas (not their fault, they don't set the prices!), how do people feel about cinema chains like Regal withdrawing from the US and reducing the number of theaters? Is PVOD (premium video on demand) going to replace all movies in theaters? Some movies in theaters? Will there always be demand for theaters for blockbusters and tentpoles, or will cinemas be reduced to a special experience one cannot get at home, like a Fork and Screen or Dolby Theater/XD experience?

I know that I much prefer watching movies at home now, having caught Frozen 2 and Onward on Disney+. But I also have a reasonably decent 4K HDR TV that's large and a hand-me-down Dolby Atmos surround sound system, so I can get a pretty-close-to theater experience at home. One can argue that a good enough setup at-home can actually be better than a theater due to calibrated colors and sounds, a more comfortable seat, and the ability to pause when you inevitably have to run to the restroom.

But that's enough of my thoughts. I ceed the floor.

As it turns out, clouds that make pretty sunsets rarely allow for seeing of celestial bodies. Dang. Another attempt will be made next month.

You should try out those layered bowls, where you glue different woods together into a block before putting it on the lathe.

If playing Fallout has taught me anything, it's that Trey's shed is actually hiding an entrance to a Vault-Tec Vault.

Which, given what's going on in the world right now probably is a really good thing for Trey.

This post would be about how jealous I am of Ben's lens if it wasn't about how jealous I am of Trey's shed.

I can be jealous of two things.

Let's be honest, it's a really, really nice shed.

As for the lens... well... I live an hour and a half from a certified "dark sky spot" in the United States and it's Milky Way season in Florida. Hopefully I'll be able to post those pictures NOT in the Coronavirus Activities thread, but they'll be posted nonetheless. I'll put the full resolution files up on Flickr.

So, I know BDA caught this on my Twitter, or maybe when I posted something in the chat about it, but I may as well post it here:

This is Project Binky. It was started in 2013 when two blokes in a shed in England decided to take the modern turbocharged and all-wheel-drive powertrain from a rally race world championship winning Toyota and shove it into a classic Mini. Never you mind that Toyota was 54 inches longer, 12.7 inches wider, and had a wheelbase (which is the measure from the center of the front wheels to the center of the rear wheels) 19.2 inches shorter.

They make brackets to funk music, routinely make fun of themselves, and it's a fun watch even if you're not 100% sure what's going on all the time, or if you're not a huge car nerd (like I am). Also, it's in colour!

And they have a mug that they just came out with that just says NMFP on it in big letters... to let people know whose problem they're really dealing with. Yes... the project car is still going on after 7 years. But we'll hopefully see the color of the paint soon!

Out of curiosity, have you ever heard the phrase "If the women don't find you handsome, they should at least find you handy."?

So, a lot of us are going to be home for the foreseeable future, and might be looking for new things to watch. I wanted to start a thread where people can suggest things they like, where they can be found, and finally a short description of why it's worth a watch. Sell it to us, if you can. I feel like that will allow others to find new things to watch and pass the time.

So I'll start with:
Letterkenny
-Available for streaming: in the US on Hulu and in Canada on CraveTV. Outside of North America, I'm not sure where to find it
-How long: 8 seasons consisting of six 20ish minute long episodes, along with five holiday specials
-Why bother to watch it: A comedy about woke Canadian hicks in a town of 5,000, you learn to love the ensemble cast in this infinitely quotable series. Though the first season starts off a bit rough, the transition from a YouTube channel of shorts called "Letterkenny Problems" to a half-hour TV show is mostly pulled off. By season two, Letterkenny hits its stride, and from there, you're off to the races. I do recommend watching with the subtitles on if you're not familiar with Canadian slang, but soon you'll be adding random Ss to words like Squirrely Dan and telling your friends awkward_bud

But hey, gas prices are down like 12-15 cents a litre, so...

My mom just got back from Costco and Total Wine, reporting that alcohol is the same price but gasoline is $1.99/gallon for regular and $2.34/gallon for premium.

She also got me a 1.75L bottle of Elijah Craig because... well... look around.

I work from home, so I haven't had much of a change there. If I go out (and I am trying to because I'm going bloody-well stir crazy) I'm making sure I'm staying outdoors rather than doing indoor events, keeping my hands in my pockets, washing my hands, and I bring hand sanitizer with me.

That said, I fully expect Disney to close their parks now that there's a European travel ban, and I wouldn't be surprised if the Orlando City Soccer Club match I'm supposed to go to on Saturday is postponed.

But I'm doing what I can to stay sane. I know I have it good because I can work from home, but when one works from home and lives alone, it does get kind of rough. I have a cat, but there's a real need to get up, get out, and DO stuff.

That said, I finished Clone Wars and am making my way through Rebels on Disney+, and I'm rewatching The Amazing Race start-to-finish on Hulu (I'm on season 5), and I finished the new seasons of Drive to Survive and Ugly Delicious on Netflix. Maybe we need a "coronavirus streaming recommendations" thread, ha!

I need to find a place to upload images. But I got a new small camera bag. And I completed the L-bracket for my camera. And I got a new foot-plate for my super-telephoto ahead of the March, April, and May super moons (for which I have Ideas For Photos).

Anybody else watching this brilliant piece of Canadian television? Available in the US on Hulu. This has become my go-to before bed show. Light, funny, and you can knock out two episodes without thinking.

I think you had to see it for the emotion in the scene. But it was a surprise that the helmet-off scene happened.

Also, the speeder bike stormtroopers being unable to hit a can that’s two yards away was amazing.

I did some Wookiepedia hunting yesterday night; apparently those TIEs are called Outlaw TIEs, and were specifically made to make ingress and egress easier outside of Star Destroyers.

I’m going to respectfully disagree and say the Darksaber looked dead on.

I just don’t understand why the Grand Moff’s TIE has folding wings and landing gear but the ones in the Episodic movies land on their wings without folding them.
