Topic: Cardboard Artoo

This is another of my low-budget Halloween creations - R2-D2 made from cardboard and foam. My wife wanted to be ANH Leia last year, so I gave her an Artoo.

Re: Cardboard Artoo

Dude, I love you. That looks awesome.

Check this out, I made some cool stuff for our Jurassic Park party. Here's a video from before things got hoppin' where I show off some of the cool stuff.

Also, here's a video just of the party. Which is worth watching if you oh so desperately lived in LA and could go to our amazing parties.

Re: Cardboard Artoo

Thanks Snail. Thankfully since I tend to hoard anything that I may be able to use in a Halloween prop build, the Artoo unit cost me about $10-$15 - It's a lot more time and creativity involved than cash. If you had to go out and buy everything for it from scratch, it probably be $75 or so. There are some "making of" pics on my Flickr account. I started with a TV box and some foam. There are some things I would do differently a second time around (using a different strategy for the head is one).

Teague, the dinosaur DNA shot tower and amber Jello shots were genius! Love it.

Re: Cardboard Artoo

Awesome!
I Collect R2 stuff... I currently have about 100 different R2s floating around my bedroom.

Here's about 30 of them.

Re: Cardboard Artoo

Awesome! I had an original ANH R2-D2 still on the card from when I was younger, and I sold it for a decent bit on Ebay years ago when I liquidated all my Star Wars, Transformers, and GI Joe toys in my parent's attic.

I still splurge and buy myself Star Wars Lego kits (I had my wife get me the collector's Imperial Shuttle for X-Mas this year and I am working through the SW Lego Advent Calendar). These are some of my professional kits that keep me company in my home-office:

Re: Cardboard Artoo

I just wanna say, that Jurassic Park party is un-fucking believably awesome. That's downright inspirational, though I don't think I could ever pull off something that epic (certainly makes me think I should start aiming bigger with my movie parties though). If you do another themed one Teague, you should definitely post it cause these are a blast to watch.

Re: Cardboard Artoo

My parents bought me the TIE Interceptor one for my birthday when I was much younger.

One of my one regrets in life is not keeping tabs on it after I put it together. sad
