Oh boy!
Has anyone figured out why there are shots from Ruin in the Revolution trailer? Is OddBall working for NBC on Revolution and RUIN was a proof of concept?

Not as far as I know, but I bet that Spifflock also owns The Complete Calvin and Hobbes.
They're just brighter and lasery versions of what already exists (Parks Sabers, Master Replicas, etc.). They obviously added a (mediocre) lightsaber effect on top of the fight parts. The actual blade glow shown in the same ad looks quite different.
Which just goes to show that fictional lightsabers are ridiculously and impractically bright, and that the effect generally used, even when done well, is bunk (but looks good).
I really need to catch up on pre-90s Scorcese, as well as Herzog's back catalogue (Still only seen Bad Lieutenant
)
I've concluded that I enjoy Herzog the person(ality) more than his films. The only part of Bad Lieutenant that I liked was the behind the scenes part where Herzog said (approximately) "My only condition on doing the film was that there be iguanas", which explains the out-of-left-field iguanas. I couldn't watch the entire film itself. My favourite parts of Rescue Dawn were the behind the scenes where Herzog and Bale out-crazy each other. Encounters at the End of the World was...weird but mostly amusing. Incident a Loch Ness was hilarious.
In Toronto a number of years ago there was a black guy handing out pamphlets on black history (actually stapled pages printed directly from Wikipedia), but if you took one he'd claim you should give him money in return. Similar to the jewellery thing, but plus white guilt, whee! I gave him a twoonie and dragged my brother off when the guy tried to "give" one to him too.
"Seven fifty plus tax, labour and materials included"
Surround sound also breaks the fourth wall. I wonder if people objected to it when movies started getting mixed and presented in surround. I know my mother-in-law doesn't like movie sounds coming from directions other than the screen, similar to how some people don't like 3D picture stuff coming at them out of the screen. I can't convince myself that 3D picture is an extension of 3D sound, but it could be argued.
Try asking with a nice word and a two-by-four?
Most of my video game experience is as an observer. I have no patience for the mechanics of video games and hate the parts where I know what you're supposed to do but the $#@*! character won't do it to get to the next bit of plot. Nearly all of my interest in video games is for the story or humour. Street Fighter is kind of the extreme of no story all mechanics and it's just boring button mashing to me. Portal was just the right combination of story and play. Both Batman Arkham games had too much shoe leather for me to want to play them myself, but I enjoyed watching Spiff play through them. An exception for me would be StarCraft, which I enjoy watching as an esport without story (though the single player mode had some amount of story and pretty cut scenes).
I saw Killer Elite so you don't have to. It was boring and forgettable. At least Al Pacino seemed to be having fun.
I watched the first two episodes (http://www.nick.com/videos/legend-of-ko … id=showNav for at least US and Canada). It has the same charm as the other three seasons without repeating characters. The creators are still really good at choreographing engaging fight scenes and that translated into the Pro-Bending segments too.
Now to deal with withdrawal symptoms (again) until there are more episodes...
What if Darth Vader was a good father? (Follow link for more pictures)
Thanks all for the congratulations So far she's kicking our asses with cuteness, even when she's screaming in my face at 3am, but I'm sure she'll graduate to lightsabers soon.
Starting at 30 seconds in and with no context or audio, this looks so mean:
I love the taste of apoca-chips on my apoca-lips in the morning. Thumbs up Teague!
I'm a huge fan of the Dust Bowl South era of history. Her vocals are absolutely captivating.
Watched this a bunch of times before I noticed her reflection in the mirror when the door opens. Cool beans.
I saw the LOTR musical and it was pretty bad. The musical numbers were long and never advanced the plot or had decent choreography, just gave back story (Lothlorieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeen sings Galadriel). They also combined a lot of characters in confusing ways and rushed a lot of the plot awkwardly. The single best part was the balrog. That was freaking amazing. They had Gandalf facing the back of the stage and had really bright floodlights outlining the balrog puppet. Then they blew a huge wind out at the audience with paper stuff in it. Threeee Deeeeeee!
I'll pass the fatherhood congrats on to Steve as I'm actually the parent that did the pushing
So you guys had your marathon last weekend and mine was the weekend before. Steve/Spiff and I would like to introduce this friendly corner of the internet to Zoë, born March 5th and weighing 7 pounds 10 ounces of adorable. Donations of sleep would be appreciated.
I'd say viral marketing campaign. It's actually also on the TED site itself: http://blog.ted.com/TED2023/ and currently linked from the TED front page.
As paulou said, you probably don't need all the things in the Master Collection if you're mostly planning on doing video. We only got it because I also use InDesign and Acrobat for print layout projects. Production Premium is half the price and the only differences are InDesign, Acrobat, Flash Builder, Dreamweaver and Fireworks. None of those are useful for video editing and effects.
I live in my brother-in-law's basement. I would take a picture, but the crushing depression of it all doesn't photograph well. Also, it's suburbia.
Sounds like you need the change and the increased income. More responsibility is what pays and as long as you've get interesting work with good people you won't regret changing jobs.
In one of the behind the scenes documentaries they mention that Jessica Rabbit's bosom was animated to move opposite to 'normal' movement to give extra bounce. I always thought that was hilarious.
