Nor me but was completely baffled when out of all people Brand was the guy to write the most sensible article on the passing of Margaret Thatcher. He's not actually as stupid as he looks.

I like the man but I would not say he has any impact on my life. I don't follow him on twitter (is he even on twitter?) I don't listen to his shows or read his blog (does he have a blog?).  But the few times I come across the guy I must say I don't understand the hate. He seems an intelligent, genuine, funny and like the rest of us, flawed human being.

His writing in The Guardian when Amy Winehouse was probably the best thing I read on her passing.

I also heard an interview with him by Elvis Mitchell few years ago that put Brand in a perspective for me.

I would put Mitchell in the same category as Ira Glass, masterful interviewer that can push through the superficial to get to those genuine moments with his guests.

Some details are coming out about the problematic third act and the work Damon Lindelof did when he was called in.

Sometimes reshoots are for the better. That is definitely the case with World War Z. Movies.com has provided a complete breakdown of the film's original ending, and to say it's different is a bit of an understatement.

  Show
Apparently the pivotal point where the reshoots took over was the plane scene. In the original film:
perfected zombie-killing tool that's sort of a shovel/battle axe that would have been one of the few things from the book to make it into the movie.
- Gerry discovers that the cold weather is the best defense against the zombies as they freeze and are easier to kill.
- The plane did not crash as it does in the theatrical version.
- Gerry (Pitt) and his Israeli comrade, Segen, land in Moscow, where his phone (the link to his wife, Karin, and family) was taken away and he was forced to join the Russian Army against the zombies.
- Months pass, and Gerry is now a zombie-killing machine.
- Gerry's unit is tasked with clearing subway tunnels of zombie hordes. This is the first time we see the Lobo, a perfected zombie-killing tool that's sort of a shovel/battle axe that would have been one of the few things from the book to make it into the movie.
- Gerry comes across the Russian who stole his phone molesting Segen.
- Gerry gets Segen and his phone back.
- Gerry calls his wife, Karin, and he learns that she sells her body to keep their children safe.
- Gerry also learns that his family is living in the Everglades, where the dead will never freeze.
- Gerry then finds out that Matthew Fox's character is housing Gerry's wife and Fox tells him to stay away.
- Gerry makes his way back to the United States as a means to rescue his family.
- Gerry and his mates land on the Oregon coast to begin a fight across the States to make it to the Everglades, where Karin and their kids are being kept.
- Roll credits.

That's it. No resolution. No nothing really.

Also Indiewire has a writeup on the changes to the third act.

Damon Lindelof's haters are probably just going to do their thing and hate on it regardless but what do you guy's think?

Thanks for sharing.

Did you ever curate the links and articles written about the "incident"?

http://cdn0.meme.li/instances/300x300/39111338.jpg

I'm not sure if this is the appropriate thread to ask for this but is it possible to allow us to use the "embed this tweet" feature on the forums?

Sorry if this has been asked and answered but I looked and did not find anything on that here.

Love mashups like these.

The audio from the Man of Steel trailer edited it to the Christopher Reeve Superman films.

Not Indonesian or Nigerian but Bollywood has been pretty busy remaking movies.

When my wife watches Bollywood movies it is a constant source of amusement to me keeping tally of the scenes they rip off.

Also... Cloud Atlas.

Great episode! Love, love that movie.

I've liked the phrase "race bending" when actors play other ethnic groups than their own. So when I looked it up listening to the commentary I found this:

http://www.racebending.com/v4/

And boy do they have a word or two to say about Cloud Atlas.

http://www.racebending.com/v4/?s=Cloud+Atlas

p.s. I don't think I like that phrase anymore.
