I had to stifle my reaction to Littlefinger's line because nobody else in my house has read the books. But I smiled on the inside.

But I can't really play that card for much longer. If we're honest, pretty much nothing happens in 4, or 75% of 5. Which means I have pretty much no idea what's going to happen for the next four years of this show, and I'm excited.

And they're already starting in on a bunch of those plots. There's basically no more Sansa stuff, very little Bran stuff (assuming he meets the Children of the Forest and Bloodraven in the finale), not too much more Dany stuff until the scene in the fighting pits...well, not any good stuff anyway.

The good news is that next season we're getting the Sand Snakes and the rest of the Dorne stuff, which I'm feeling optimistic about. If they do the Ironborn stuff, that could be interesting, and the emphasis on them in last night's ep indicates that they're setting up a return to that culture. I was bored out of my skull by the Victarion chapters in AFFC though, so who knows how that'll go down. I wouldn't be surprised if Brienne meets Lady Stoneheart at the end of the season and not Merrett Frey, although the impact of that scene would be cut in half if it looks like Brienne is dead on top of the LSH reveal.

I was amazed by how much Sansa looked like Catelyn in those shots. Dunno what trickery they did to achieve that but it definitely worked.

I ADORE Wings of Desire. What a wonderful film.

Roger Ebert books are must-owns for film buffs.

I think the idea that it "worked with The Avengers" is tenuous at best, given that the franchise tie-in stuff consistently dragged down all of the films leading up to it. There's not even an endgame being teased with X-Men, just an endless string of films to give money to over and over. Pass.

Fun Fact: There's a "Junior" version of Into The Woods for schools to perform that cuts the entire second act.

It's an HBO movie, right? I hadn't heard much about it, other than it being the reason that there wasn't any Game of Thrones this week. Sounds interesting.

For the record, Raul Esparza is amazing on Hannibal. He plays Dr. Chilton. He gets some great scenes with Eddie Izzard.

Here's the thing. In general, I really really like superhero movies. What I'm starting to really really HATE is superhero franchises. I'm sick of sitting through movies that are more interested in setting things up for some OTHER movie than, you know, telling an interesting story.

  Show
This movie ONLY EXISTS to wipe out X3 and stroke the egos of fanboys who have been whining about it for years. "See, you were right all along! And we fixed it! Please see our next movie now, okay?" Fuck that. I want to see a movie, not 2 hours of apologetics.

And that would actually be okay if the 1970s storyline was even a little bit interesting, which it isn't. Characters decide to do things because the story demands it, and Wolverine keeps getting kept away from the action so that he doesn't change things too much. What's the point of sending him back if you're not going to do anything with him? And don't even get me started on the insulting idea that Kitty Pryde's phasing ability also means that she can send people's minds back in time. Do they think we're all idiots or something? Just introduce a new mutant if that's how you want to do it. Also, Bryan Singer is a shitty, boring filmmaker. Oh for the days of Matthew Vaughn, who made a period X-Men movie with actual period style, instead of boring, flat, digital ugliness. This is an awful movie.

  Show
But if it wasn't for that cynical, blatantly pandering ending, I wouldn't be upset about superhero franchises right now. In fact, if this was the LAST X-Men movie, and that's the note they wanted to go out on, I wouldn't actually hate that. But no, there's an after-credits scene that I don't understand which indicates that they're just clearing the table for future installments and reassuring fans that those future installments will be good, and that they should pay to see them. Ugh.

I spent this entire movie thinking that Titus Pullo was the name of an ACTOR. Very confusing.

Is he wearing a fedora? Hoo boy.

I hated it. I hated it so much. I wanted to set myself on fire when it was over. I did write a review, if you're curious. But it's not likely to change any of your minds. I think these are mainly me-problems. I'm jealous of all of you for enjoying it as much as you did. Wish I had the same experience.

I think it speaks more to the fact that Disney the corporation is making a movie about Disney the man, and they're more interested in glorifying him than showing an honest depiction. I mean, the entire movie is about how PL Travers is a stupid emotional dumb WOMAN and Disney is the brilliant imaginative man who knows what to do with her book better than she does. The movie is totally unfair to her, because anything other than that would imply that Walt Disney isn't a saint.

I watched Saving Mr. Banks last night. Well, I watched half of it. I bailed after the scene where Walt Disney COMPARES HIMSELF TO GOD without a hint of irony. What an atrocious film. I need catharsis. Please do a commentary.

Why didn't anyone tell me how great this movie was?

Oh...y-you did a whole commentary last year? And I ignored it until now? Even though I owned the Blu-Ray all this time? Well, this one's on me.

I'm not sure that it is set in the "real world." Bryan Fuller has mentioned in the past that this incarnation of Hannibal Lecter could literally be the devil in human form. Not metaphorically. LITERALLY. Or if you don't like that explanation, how about this? The show is told through the eyes of Will and Hannibal, two incredibly disturbed individuals. Their perspectives skew towards the fantastical. That's why we don't see much of "reality."

Well, the title probably made you think of something. It's that thing. And it's on NBC.

A TV show about Hannibal of Carthage?! AWESOME! wink

I think they're finally getting to the elephants next season.

The show re-imagines a LOT of the source material (the Vergers showed up in this season, for instance) so if you're willing to accept that you'll probably be able to get on board.

The show has never been grounded in reality. There's always been an element of magical realism and dream logic to the show. I think you have to let go of that to get the most out of it.

Twitter "insider" gossip suggests that Wright was falling way behind schedule and Disney was nervous that he wouldn't be able to handle a project this big, so they let him go. If so, it's very kind of them to suggest that he left because of "creative differences." Lets Disney do what's best for them while still letting Wright look like the good guy.

ATTENTION. THE REST OF THIS FORUM, ATTENTION.

Hannibal is the best show on television, it's season finale is one of the best episodes of television I've ever seen, and I swear to god if you don't catch up with it by the time season 3 starts I will murder every one of you and create beautiful artistic tableaus of your corpses.
