Got a "new" (new-to-me, it originally came out in 1986 and was made for five years or so) Minolta AF 20mm f/2.8 lens. I've wanted to get one for a while; the Minolta AF lenses fit on Sony A-mount (since they bought the rights from Minolta) and have since been a great source of cheap and high quality lenses for my camera.

A sample photo:

And I also shot this week's Recap episode on it. https://www.facebook.com/BoterBug/video … 668350565/

I also have Minolta 28mm and 50mm primes; I haven't used them since filming Empty Jacket, since after that I got a 28-75mm Sony zoom lens as a workhorse. I would use the 50 more if it wasn't stuck open at f/1.8 or so tongue I also regularly use a Minolta 70-210mm f/4 "Beercan". The 20 finally gives me an ultrawide so I have a well-rounded kit.

Like I said, because of professional and privacy concerns I can't post with the city name visible, and with how backed up we are we can't put any more time into blurring it out. Use your imagination and yes, it is that good.

Abe was amazing. Stick through the credits and you'll see he tried for a different line each time. I won't be able to post the full blooper reel online (too much work blurring out the city name) but at one point he put on the wig and nightie and did the "run for the fence and get taken down". The wig came off; the cigarette stayed in his mouth.

So glad I finally get to share this. Of everything I've done for work, this might be my favorite - certainly the one that's the most along the lines of what I do outside of work. The couple came to us with the concept, we shot the "film" portion a couple months ago, and their wedding was last week, where we got the day-of footage and showed the completed project during their reception. As you might imagine, it went over amazingly. The couple loved it and my boss, who wasn't involved in the production at all aside from vetting the pre-edit once I was set with it, was super impressed with what I delivered. Enjoy!

(Because the couple work in emergency service capacities, and especially because of how they're portrayed here, they've asked that we limit its reach a bit, so no embedding - watch here: https://vimeo.com/230784006)

Channel: Computerphile
tl;dr: Spinoff of Numberphile dealing with code, programming challenges, and general education on how the computing world works.

Channel: It's Okay to be Smart
tl;dr: One of the numerous PBS-produced shows on YouTube, with weekly uploads covering a range of topics from glaciers to evolution to why February only has 28 days.

Channel: The Camera Store TV
tl;dr: A couple guys who work at a store in Alberta called The Camera Store that started doing reviews of products out in the real world and more general talk about gear and tips for using it. Is now one of the biggest photography channels, up there with the likes of DigitalRevTV (and better, in my opinion). Chris is the primary host talking about still photo and Jordan is the co-host talking about video, and often the locations they use could count as a third co-star.

I think the best phonetic spelling is phleghmuht-spah

Ok so the Centennial Bulb (as we quaintly call it in the present) is probably making me think more than the rest of the series, no mean feat. It already strains credibility that a single light bulb has been burning continuously for 115 years. For 15,000 years? Clearly it's had help at this point. I figured the nanos were somehow replenishing the filament by whatever incremental amount it's strained or used up or however that works. They even mention the site as being "protected", and it seems to me that the nanos would be incredibly useful in preserving monuments. ("Why are all of the buildings still the same ones," Nine considers asking at some point. Answer: nanos, the second magic bean in the story, if I'm using the term correctly.)

So anyway, if it's a protected site, you'd think the nanos would protect the bulb. Or, failing that, repair it - but if it's "gone", then any reassembly is going to come back to a severe discussion on Theseus' Ship. "The screw was still there so it was reconstructed around that." Does it still count, then, as the same bulb that's been burning since 1901? Or does this society say, "Yeah, that didn't count, and now we have the power to undo mistakes like that?“

Oh crud I forgot about this and have a lot of catching up to do!

Edit: THE BULB COME ON (Pretty sure I know where this is going before they clarify...)

It's been a few sessions since I updated this, but the campaign has ended.

Neuberlin proclaimed itself independent of the Galactic Government, and the Government in turn showed up in force to declare martial law against the insurgency. The captains of the fleet were inserted into various crucial positions and started gears in motion; when they (and the rest of the Coalition fleet) came back to Neuberlin with their warships, the fleet fought some familiar faces, then the 10 km wide Cronos superweapon, and along the way swatted down the GGV Typhoon, which had led the bombardment of Earth.

Neuberlin is free, the Coalition has a world to call its own, and the civil war has officially begun.

One of the flower girls at the wedding I shot today was snacking on a Lunchable during bridal prep. All I could think was, "Ham, ham, ham, ham, ham, ham, ham, ham. Hampuck."

Just to confirm, we all good for the evening of Sunday the 9th? (Tomorrow or tonight, depending on when you read this.)

Page 3 is up, just a video of some sort. Saw it when it was just two pages; the two seemingly have nothing to do with each other except for a segue, and the next two are like that too - so far, odd-numbered is Nine & co. and even is football, with just a segue sentence or two from odd to even.

I don't know what's hooking me more.

Duly noted. I've been recording a Diablo 2 Let's Play with Steph all day, good to know I don't have to stop when we're on a roll. (Two facecams, two game captures, all on one screen. Should be pretty damn cool.)

(Yes we'll get to 3 eventually.)

Yeah, White Winter Hymnal is where I'd heard of them (...through the Pentatonix cover). Very cool, thanks for sharing more of their stuff!

I recognize and own that desk. Except I have it configured for a corner desk. Either way it has lasted me many many years.

Looking amazing dude, I love seeing it come along!

The fleet went to go recover a fleeing freighter that was escaping a Government planet with a signal analyst aboard. In addition to its small patrol fleet, the Aquitaine was also in pursuit. The Sunry and the Siren picked up the freighter, only one of them taking damage, while the Event Horizon was disabled by the Aquitaine, which docked in an attempt to capture it.

And then Owens did some crazy guerilla tactic crap and captured the Aquitaine, jumping both ships home as they were docked together.

Oh hell good call. I'm good for it.

Not gonna lie, an unreasonable part of me wanted to adopt this fox.

Cool stuff! We have a shed in back with the opposite - is all wired up and ready for habitation, or workshop space, or whatever, but it needs to be torn down. It was half-disused by the previous owners and we haven't touched it; a contractor caught one look of it and proclaimed it full of mold, to say nothing of critters living in and under it.

Eventually we'll take it down and replace it; until then I enjoy this murdershed in our backyard.

But again - that looks like it'll be some awesome personal office space for you! My friends who do work from home and have kids would be jealous. And maybe starting to get ideas.

Guys I am in this and it is so cool.

http://www.imdb.com/list/ls053181649/vi … 3179985177

They asked permission a few days ago, first I saw someone with no followers on Twitter who messaged me and I'm like, "Um, okay?" but then saw a message on my Facebook page for it explaining it. Pretty damn psyched! Happy 40th birthday, Star Wars!

Cool. I've gotten confirmation from Jess and Toby as well.

For the record, last Sunday didn't happen. What are peoples' availability tomorrow?

Toby and Jess are both on so we'll be doing something that I as a DM think could be "fun".

It's been a while since the last session, so if anyone remembers and can fill in some notes: the Event Horizon went to reconnoiter a large installation. I have notes that I won't be able to access as far as how much was found out, but I believe it was a large, 10km wide ring made mostly of scaffolding, with a more solid inner hub, and various ships arranged around the edges like spokes. The team was able to safely leave the area before they were engaged in combat, though their presence was certainly detected to some extent.
