I wasn't even aware there was a Director's Cut of LW... what are the differences?
A scene where Riggs smashes his tv in anger, one where he takes out a sniper at a school and one where he takes home a new tv. This makes the first act too long and takes ages for Riggs and Murtaugh to meet. Especially when there is also a scene in there where Murtaugh is practising shooting his gun. Then, later, Riggs picks up a young prostitute and pays her to go home with him just to watch his new tv for the night.
Like I say, on their own, they are interesting (well, the sniper and the prostitute ones are) but they just make the film drag.
The Director's Cut (which technically isn't even a Director's Cut) is inferior in my opinion. The added scenes, while interesting, make the film too long and it gives Riggs one introduction too many. If they were to do Lethal Weapon, I hope they do the theatrical cut which is actually Richard Donner's preferred cut.
The list of companions who were on the show before is becoming quite long, as the two I thought of immediately were Harry Sullivan, who was in Carnival of Monsters the year before, and the astronaut who joined the Doctor in The Chase, the episode where Ian and Barbara left. The actor had appeared earlier in the same story as an American country bumpkin on top of the Empire State Building.
And, naturally, we might want to include The Brigadier in this as the actor appeared in The Dalek Master Plan (well, the one episode prologue)
I haven't seen a lot of the older ones but that's cool the list is as long as it is

It's quite pathetic, isn't it? Wah, he's too old, wah, he's not hot, waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!
I vaguely remember hearing someone say that they wouldn't do a gender swap because they didn't want to have to try and explain that to children. It is technically a kid's show.
This is true, it is a show that has a huge child audience so I can see the dilemma.

Why not an east Indian Doctor? Or a Māori Doctor? A Brazilian Doctor?
If it's another lanky white dude I'll be severely disappointed. It's been half a century. Let's mix things up a bit.
It probably won't happen, but I am praying right alongside you.

Are you running away because you suggested a) a black actor b) a mediocre actor or c) someone who was a semi-regular for two years and therefore can't be the Doctor?
I'd welcome a black actor. The announcement will be in front of a live audience, there must be a reason for that. It is either going to be a known (in the UK at least) face or it'll be something different (a non-white dude/a woman/ a goat).
Nah, I'm more of a Spider-man type smartarse, well, when I was younger. Or Deadpool, I'd be a Scottish Deadpool. "Ah'm the Merc wi' the mooth, ya bunch of cuntin' pansies, ye!"
