SLC Punk is an interesting choice. Got a bit of a history with that movie.

Five minutes in. So far, truly impressive.

I'm going to remember this moment fondly.

Where did you get the factoid about Sam 2 marrying the original Sam's daughter?

That does sound interesting. Does he have a physics-based explanation for the sun zombie?

Ha!

Anyway, I'm sticking to my strategy for now. Last as long as I can in one place, and not leave, and not try to fight zombies. I'm leaving that to people who are probably more qualified - not just the military and national guard, but, like, people with guns who know how to use them.

Hey, at least they didn't yell at you to shut up with a straight face for saying "this is the worst commentary ever smile" while they were waiting around during the live chat; and this shortly after they started taking donations based on your suggestion.

Whoa, when did this happen?

I feel like this thread could have gone better, and it's my fault. Sorry everybody, sorry Greg.

We should do a serious Down in Front on a porn. Hm.

Anyway, something that could be cool would be the ability to, from the app, listening at a certain point you want to chime in on, click a link that takes you to the forum, to the right thread, and starts your post with a timecode indicating where you were in the episode when you posted. (And go nuts and have that timecode be a link to that point in the file, or a point fifteen seconds earlier for context, that'll stream in a pop-up window so folks can hear what you're talking about.)

So I'm listening to The Blob, fifteen minutes and ten seconds in, and Teague says something really wrong and kind of racist. You click the "comment on this" button, and it loads up a post reply form to the Blob thread with

Referring to 00:00:15:10

at the very top.

*sigh*

Alright, so you understand why this has happened to you, who came in and politely asked about the movie, let's run play-by-play.

We'll establish that a not-dickish way to acquire the knowledge you wanted in the first place would go something like:

"I don't know much about Monsters, what's it about?"

What you said was:

"You realllllllllly gotta tell me what 'Monsters' is before I'm going to care."

That's the first post you made on this subject. For some reason which I won't speculate on, nobody replied to your comment. Later, replying to nobody, you say:

And yet $8 is way too much if no one has bothered to make me care about seeing it. I mean, I get 'help the indie filmmaking' as an argument, but, as far as me being a filmGOER, and not a filmMAKER, I'm more likely to want to see a movie that costs $300 million than one that cost $15K, so why would I spend my $8 on one of those instead of one of those?

This is a fair enough point, but as Brian brought up later, we advocate movies, and explain our reasoning in podcast form, and I'm gonna give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you've listened before and know how the podcast works. The podcast that we provide in high quality on a weekly basis at absolutely no cost to you ('weird way to run a website,' indeed), which was waiting for you to press play. Where, by 3:30 in, you would have heard me say

It's a good movie, it's kind of a Cloverfieldy District 9-y thing with giant aliens, which is freaking awesome. The movie itself, I actually like it a lot...

I know you listen to episodes for movies you haven't seen, I'm not sure why this time that stopped you fully in your tracks.

Monsters is about...what. What is it? Tell me what it is.
You can't convince someone to watch a movie just because it's an indie movie. That is not a credential, that's a handicap.

[...]

Nope, not interested.

We get it. You're so not interested you're coming all the way back around to defiantly proclaim you're not interested. So you're not interested. End of story.

Can we stop this, please? Greg, you sounded like a dick in your first post and sounded more like a dick as things progressed, that's why I treated you like a dick and not someone innocently asking for more information about the movie. I liked "Monsters," I recommend that folks watch it. It's a slow paced sci fi film that lets you soak in its universe, and that appeals to me. Moving on.

We get it. You're an independent thinker who can't be cajoled into watching any damn movie the world makes. Standards, etc. Let's stay on the topic of discussing the film, and not very admirable reasons not to see it.

I don't recall why I don't like it, I didn't like it when I saw it growing up, then years later I revisited it to see if my opinion had changed and it hadn't, and that was so long ago I don't remember why I felt that way then.
