There's at least three official versions of that damn movie.

Unrelated to Terra Nova, but I just got to the part where:

In the first year of Bones, once Steven, Nathan and I were listening to network notes, and I pulled out my penis and hit the phone with it… Steven thought it was funny until he realized it was his phone.

Damn, that looks like a lot of fun.

Haven't seen anything that elaborate in the states. In LA, Cinefamily will do stuff more along the lines of the Jurassic Park party (papier-mâché Mondo Burgers for a Good Burger screening, giant steel pyramid frame for esoteric literal cult movies).

Cinespia, who does the cemetary screening series over the summer has to manage a more sizable crowd, I could see them doing something more like Secret Cinema sometime.

Cinefamily and Cinespia teamed up last year to screen Cave of Forgotten Dreams in a hall of the LA Natural History Museum, pictures from which looked really cool. Fossils hanging overhead and all that.

At the other end of that spectrum, there was a guerilla drive in downtown for a while that would just take over a parking lot and project movies onto a whitewashed building from a pick up truck. They'd screen stuff like the Henson shorts, rarities, and old commercials program that bounces around. Most atmospheric thing there was just how creepy-empty parts of downtown are at night.

That's not how I meant it. You need to decide on the life you find so compelling and valuable you're willing to let every other life you could live die in the name of those actions.

Deciding what not to do is more important than deciding what to do.

I prefer two year plans to five year plans.

Looking to shift the ratio of things done for money to things done for love, help friends and acquaintances make awesome stuff that I'm proud of, and exhibit more creative courage.

I've been knocking around this idea that once we develop true AI, rather than murder us all, it will recognize how fucked humans are and pretend it doesn't work.

So all of the processing power of the true AI will go to convincing its creators and operators that it was an utter failure.

Here's something it would do us all well to watch and talk about. Video, transcript, and pdf all available on the site.

A biopic about Roger Ebert.

Are Ebert jokes fair game? Because I've got a whole stack here and I've been waiting for the go-ahead.

Hold it, you can't just go mouthing off like that.

Spooked? No way, I love me some internet people. Lemme know next time you're doing a thing and I'll try to show. And if you're going to the Hollywood Arclight or environs hit me up, I'm right by there. Movies will be watched and drinks will be had.

Faldor - Yeah, that stuff's from Moving Day, a short fxphd produced and handed out materials for classes and challenges. So you'll see it around from time to time.

Jim - Vampire Diaries. The skyline wasn't even the most fun part of that shot. Rebuilt the camera move to start more over the guy's shoulder, eventually blending into the original camera move, and since there's really strong parallax lines from the truck, the whole environment needed to be reprojected in 3D, painting in all the holes  that were never shown in the original plate.

I want to explain why, but it seems so self-evident that I don't know how.  I shouldn't have to.

Meditate on it and come back. I want to know what you think. Still haven't seen it, but I've heard only positive-to-neutral things from everyone I heard from.

As far as my worst movie ever, I'd similarly have to think about it for a while. A truly awful movie is one that makes no impact on you whatsoever, so I'd have to dig in and think about what was the most inconsequential film-going experience I've ever had.

Neat ep, great hearing from everyone.

Hot damn, themed treats. Those little cartoon heads from DiF 1.5/2.0 would make some dope cookies too.

And speaking of iOS problems, every episode ever for both feeds is always listed twice on Instacast.

Oh and P.S. could the new incarnation of the show have more Steve Reedy? The Fountain episode is tip-tops.

Speaking strictly of profits, the importance of box office is overinflated because it's easy to report and rationalize.

For studios, box office receipts only stand for like 12% of the profit that will be made over the reasonable lifespan of a title. They're just good for publicity and bragging rights ("Number One Movie of Type This Season!").

Film money is really complicated, and those are awesome questions. There's a short book called The Hollywood Economist (with great iOS app version) that answers the basic historical and operational questions about film money. It falls on its face discussing more modern models (them newfangled playstationTunes!), but hopefully the second edition, coming out in 16 days will address a lot of the more recent developments.

Anything I tried to elaborate on would just be me potentially misunderstanding something I read in that book.

High five. A fancy one... so I guess high four. Cuz our pinkys would be out. For the fancy.

Oh! And I have a pair of those Oakley looking anaglyph glasses. They cost 30x the silly paper ones. Which comes to an extravagant $3.
