HOLY CRAP THE DARKSABER!
Next season is going to be bonkers.
Holy heck.
Just a reminder, this week episode comes out TOMORROW, and it comes with a special preview of Rise of Skywalker at the end of it.
This show is friggin' amazing. SOOOOOO good. I find myself counting down the hours until work is over on Fridays so I can watch this show!
As a gear head, this movie was always of interest to me. I was also familiar with the story. So I’m really interested to hear the opinions of non-car fans. But I really enjoyed it. Wonderfully shot. Lots and lots of lovely practical effects, fantastic driving.
I agree 100% with you about IG-11. I had a big sad when he ended up being blasted. But a big not-sad when I was the baby... uh... we don't know that species' name. I love the world they're building, and I want to end all conversations now with "I have spoken!" That will be useful in my job as a Project Manager.
Also, two humorous articles from Jalopnik, for additional flavor:

So, do we need spin off a discussion for The Mandalorian, or is that game in here.
Because... that friggin' ending.
If JJ recons Rey to be a Skywalker, I'm gonna be so pissed. I much prefer her being a nobody. Anybody can have the Force. You don't have to be a bloody Skywalker for it.
Also, rhyme for seeing Threepio without his outer shell, Episode 9 to Episode 1?
This entire album is on most music services, and I gotta say, the first three songs (Mad About Mad About Me, Turbulence, and Bright Suns) absolutely bump. Also, how had "The Dusty Jawas" never been used as a band name before?
In other other news, if you like spoken word, or more specifically rap, check out Watsky, sometimes billed at George Watsky. Originally a slam poet, now a rapper. I really like his All You Can Do and xInfinity albums.
I saw a full-size billboard for this today.
That's all I got.
Well, if you'd like feel like you're right there in Oga's Cantina, you can stream/buy this album:

Including new music from Fiigrin D'an and the Modal Nodes. All spun by DJ R3X.
I mean, yeah... there are some cringe-worthy moments, but I think things were a bit different back when the episodes were recorded. I think of it like what Warner Brothers does with some of their old cartoons - they put a title card in front of it: https://imgur.com/gallery/U8UZyVI
That sounds fuckin' rad.
So... I went last night, here in Orlando.
The spoiler free version is "OH MY GOD THAT WAS AMAZING," and only one of the two planned attractions, the attraction everybody is calling "the B-attraction," was open.
The Matrix: Rebooted
So, grabbed a couple new bottles recently. Sourced myself a 1.75L of Eagle Rare, which is fantastic. I also found a bottle of Whistlepig that was cheaper than $80, called Piggyback. I'm not a huge fan of rye, but it's quite good. It's a hot rye, though... punch of alcohol and some good fire. It's a nice drink.
Thank you everybody I know the crystal ball is a bit kitchy, but I still like it occasionally. I ended up bringing my camera and 200-500mm to the MLS All-Star Skills Competition on Tuesday, where Chris Mueller showed off a spectacular scissor-kick. I was hoping for a Rooney bicycle, too, but it wasn't to be. Mueller did a great job, though, and I'm thankful the referee wasn't in the way!

I'm going to arrange all those shots, plus one more, into one print, get two copies, and send them into Orlando City to see if Mueller will sign one for me. The other will be for Mueller himself.
So, can we address how Teague accurately predicted the Star Wars sequels?
Boy, how my photography has changed since this post was last updated. Lots of new gear, and way more interesting shots, I think.

The last one has been the lock screen on my phone for quite some time.
I made sure not to watch Cats. I've watched Top Gun at least three times already. Thank you, Tom Cruise, for insisting so much of the jet stuff was done practically. That was 100% a practical carrier launch; someone said probably from an F/A-18B, which is a two-seat model.
EDIT: The only thing that bothers me is "... the only pilot to shoot down three enemy planes in the last 40 years..." isn't a line that an Admiral would say. That's 100% a studio exec saying "our audience won't know what we mean if we say 'the only ace in the last 40 years,' so make it more obvious."
EDIT EDIT: I'm really curious, though, to see why when he's talking to Ed Harris, Tom Cruise is wearing a high-altitude suit. It shows up once more in a cockpit, but I can't ID the jet he's in.
Grabbed Apollo 11 (2019) in 4K HDR last night and holy cow.
Craig Lieberman was a technical advisor on the first two Fast and Furious movies, and he has a YouTube channel whose videos are making the rounds in the car community and on sites like Jalopnik.

Even if you're not a car person, it's actually really interesting to find out that there were six versions of the green Eclipse in the first movie, how they rigged it to blow up, and how they managed to R/C a Honda S2000 so it could jump a bridge. He even goes into the process of how they managed to only spend $2MM on cars for the first movie, including parts, spares, wear items, and stunt specials.
Ever tried Mellow Corn?
Can't say I have, though I do keep a bottle of Climax Moonshine in the freezer. I do live in Florida, after all!
I've only tried straight scotch once, and like you, don't like that peaty flavor. However, I did stumble upon High West's Campfire when I was trying to order a glass of Blanton's (they were out), which is a bourbon, rye, and scotch mix. Very, very interesting drink... the smokiness of the scotch is mellowed out by the sweetness of the rye. I would recommend a bottle if you can find it on sale.
I dig it. Followed.
So, very recently (within nine or so months) I've gotten into bourbon, due to a friend really enjoying it and then taking the time to teach me the nuances. Are there any other bourbon drinkers on the forum? Currently, I've got a lovely bar filled with:
-Buffalo Trace
-Buffalo Trace (Knightly Spirits Barrel Select)
-Eagle Rare
-W.L. Weller Special Reserve
-Elijah Craig
-Elijah Craig Barrel Proof C918 batch
-Litchfield Distillery Cask Strength
-Litchfield Distillery Double Barreled (10 year)
-Woodford Reserve Double Oaked
The basic Elijah Craig is my daily drinker, with the Eagle Rare, Weller, and Litchfields reserved for special occasions. I have to be in the mood for the Woodford, as it's a very bitter finish, almost like coffee. The Elijah Craig Barrel Proof is one of my favorite pours, and the C918 batch clocked in at a staggering 131.4 proof or thereabout. It's a fantastic bourbon to drink neat, even with the heat from the high proof. It almost tastes spicy, but has incredible caramel notes. I also have a couple of ryes: Sazarac Rye (once again, Buffalo Trace Distillery), and just got a bottle of Whistlepig Piggyback 6-year.
