not an issue no more, have eBayed the DVD extended versions and am stocking up on caffiene drinks and microwavable chicken so I can make it thru the marathon.  big_smile

A Midsummer Night's Ream - the sordid adventures of four young Athenian lovers and a group of amateur actors, who are manipulated by the fairies who inhabit the forest.

thanq for the information smile

Not even a great pair of baps will remove this from my "should be obliterated" list (of which it is the sole entry) (and this is coming from a huge huge F13 fan who wouldn't do away with ANY of the first 11, even No5 with [spoiler] cos it lead to the awesome No6 with [epicreturnspoiler] and even No9 which was meh until the end with [spoiler]. All those I own on DVD, all original, shop bought. But the 2009 movie needs to just die.

If by "worst" you mean which movie I totally despise and were anyone to buy it for me I'd punch them in the head, then Friday 13th (2009).  mad

re: my "are the DVD versions the same as the BlueRays" question.

IMDB has the following for the first movie:

Runtime: 178 min  | 208 min (special extended edition)  | 228 min (Special Extended Blu-Ray Edition)

Does this mean the DVDs are ~20mins shorter than the BlueRays and thus (in my no BlueRay house) I'm screwed.  sad

So bluerays, okidoki - does anyone know if they're the same length as the dvd versions cos I don't me me no blueray player. sad

Quick question - will you be using the BlueRay or DVD extended versions. Maybe there isn't a difference but best to check now before eBaying.

Any chance someone with an artistic bent (that's a saying, right ?!) can put together some kinda promotional poster/jpeg for the LOTR extraviganza so I can post in a "suggest a site" thread in another forum ???? :pleeeeeze:

The prospect of a LOTR marathon has got me a little giddy, I just hope the one for No3 isn't the bunch of you snoring, having knackered yourselves out with the 7hrs(?) of talking for No1+No2. smile

^thanx for the info and I'll leave it on my not-right-now list. (which is where I should have left Moneyball and its [spoiler(ish) removed] ending.)

I've avoided the movie because I heard it was basically:
Two guys write a computer program.  smile
Get very rich & famous and everyone is happy  big_smile
Fall out. sad
Start suing each other.  yikes
Everyone all bitter and twisted.  mad  - movie ends.
Not one for complete downer movies so can someone tell me if I've got it all wrong because I'm a big fan of the Sorkin. (although not of MoneyBall with its huh-ending that just runined it).

Another "not a pre show buzz builderupper" but what would make me interested in trying out a new show would be if (probably phrasing this wrongly) the makers would guarantee a final ep. By this I mean (not to sound -ve but...) if the show doesn't perform well enough to continue, the loyal viewers will get some kinda rounding off ep, or (like the Defying Gravity people/person did) be a "this is where we would have liked to taken the story had we had more time" page in the website. (The MiddleMan people brought out a comic book for the unmade final ep to round of the season NaughtyLad arc).

BTW, to piggy back on those "design a nose cone", "name a baddie" ideas, what about havng the viewers provide the garnish rather than the main courses - ie  big_smile  rather than chose the main route they could contibute to the minor details - store names the hero passes, artwork for the fridge, name of the first spaceship destroyed. If you let the audience pick important stuff you run the risk of having to then overall(?), of saying no, like when
(1) childrens show ask viewers to name a teddy bear - Mohammad won.  big_smile
(2) chess show, audience play white, audience move judged "not a good one" so they overalled (that's the right word, right ?!) it and made "the right" choice.
which just didn't sit right with me.  mad

The "people send in art work" idea reminded me of a Casey Lebow CSI NY episode (s5e07) where she (iirc) played someone who collected peoples secrets, sent to her in postcard sized, which she put on her walls (see pix)

Maybe one of the cast people collects photos of people holding watermelons - a simple thing that would be easy for anyone to put together (hence the simple tag) and email to you.

For more audience participation, I was reminded of an ep of The Norm show (starring Norm MacDonald) how at the end of one ep in the kinda form of those outtake bits some shows do. Well they showed him saying ~20 viewer suggested alternative punchlines to jokes in the show, with a "suggested by Bernie from California" & "suggested by Jane from Croydon" caption during each one.

btw: I tried imdbing to find the exact ep and found the following under ep 218 -
In this episode, viewers are encouraged to pick up on 50 references to classic movies.  - you CAN 'borrow' ideas done in other shows, right ?!

Those vanity cards the Big Bang Theory fellow does, to give people with a [pause] button the opportunity to use it get more stuff - if one of your actors is into online flash games and you were to tell people which one and provide a link to it, then people could aim for a top10 score placement and see their name pop up after the cast member finishes their game - I guess this idea would kinda suck if your programme was a Western. sad

Things that I've liked in other shows is the NCIS's Gibbs rules - I'm sure there's a web page that added each new rule as soon as it was broadcast - and the Charmed and Grimm thing of a book of knowledge thing which I'm sure there is a web page that allows you to print out each weeks spell/creature picture & description & killing method to collect over the series. <- but those are all not "things to happen before the show has even started to build up the #### <- can't think of the word. sad

One thing that would get me immediately interested in a show and want to mark its start date on me calendar would be finding out out Kristen Bell is starring in it - but methinks with this not being "a million dollar show" that a big named star is out of the question.

[edit] It was episode s3e16 of the Norm Show.

^excuse my lazyness, but is this the one where that tv show maker was asking for suggestions to help build up a following for his/her new show - iirc one way was to have people send in pieces of art work to feature in the show <- though maybe I just dreamt that.  hmm

^ there were only 11 movies in the original Friday 13th series - surely they could knock out commentaries for all of them over a long weekend.  big_smile.

Is that a reference to the impending exit of that kidney stone ?

I know tv stations would never do this: but if they would guarantee each of their shows, when cancelled, would get a final ep to round of the series, maybe people would be so keen to jump ship immediately upon hearing mutterings of cancellation.

btw: does your list of cancellation types include the one where the makers finish of the season (sometimes leaving us on an end of season cliffhanger), only to find out later that the show won't be returning (no mention of cancellation having been mentioned beforehand).

We might be off-air next weekend as well, currently undecided.

I take the absence of any "we're doing this" that it's been decided in the affirmative, right ?!  sad

(was saving this mastery comment on your commentary until it was officially released  smile )

One of your team said something like "Mr Urban had, like, a sweet deal -> all that strength and able to go out in the sun, who wouldn't want that". Postulating "who wouldn't want to take him up on his "I'll make you like me" offer." (ish).

Personally, though those qualities are appealing, having to live on blood would dampen the joy (I do like my chips).

(though it's been a while since I listened so I might have miss-heard. )

Maybe I'm just being naive / overly sensitive(?) but using the phrase "openned lipped vagina" really turned me off listening to the DOA commentary I found. But it defn made me appreciate what you guys do here.
