I'm typically a goal oriented person who for the last year my only goal was MAKE SURE THE BABY SURVIVES ME.

Now that he survived his first year with me as father, I'd like to reorient my five year plan.

1)  Turn my incorporation into more than just a tax shelter.  I have some ideas for some web based content, so first off I want my vision for Laser Fist Media to be fulfilled by years end.

2) More fight coreography.  Starting with One More Round, I hope to showcase that throughout the year.

3) More shorts.  Writing one now.

4) Some of you may know, but I worked in TV Development for the last year and I came fairly close to selling two of them.  My goal is to sell one by years end.

5) Finish 2 feature scripts Ive been SLOOOWLY working on for quite some time.  One is based on a little known WWII story, the other is something I work shopped a bit with some DiF folks.

My frustration with the Melissa Leo character is that Melissa Leo is awesome and her character was practically non essential after the internet lure.  One thing I wish I could have gone into more is that almost all of the characters felt like caricatures and at times were interchangeable.  Melissa Leo is awesome.  I've been saying it for a while, and she was utterly wasted on a character that did one thing.

In fact, many of the characters do just one thing, and in the process I end up not caring.

*sigh* There was a time when Fedor COULD have armbarred God.  Sadly, those days have passed.

But yeah, I just re-listened to this, and WOW I hated that movie.

I think a reedit falls under Lucas fan film flexibility clause.

Slight changes:

Balrog Burgers now, blackened by shadow and flame.
Bilbo's Cheese and Eggs will also come with a side of butter scraped over too much toast.

And although I will do my prep work at home, I plan to make most of this at the DiF kitchen.

I think we got tripped up because I suggested that your roommate Jessica, who makes her own Micro Brews, might be persuaded to mix up a custom batch if possible.

I'd like to offer one quick correction to my lovable Teague. I will not primarily be making LOTR themed mixed drinks for 10 hours straight.  This is for two reasons: 1) If I stuff 12 people full of booze for 10 hours straight, I will be charged with multiple homicides and 2) I don't make mix drinks very well.

What I offered was to make LOTR themed FOOD for the entire time.  Mainly because I didn't think it would be good to have multiple people making Sharkey's and 7-11 runs throughout our commentary, but also because I love to cook, have been told I'm decent at it, and thought it would be fun to provide snacks that sort of go along with the movies.  I've already started putting the menu together and I'll offer these previews.

Bilbo's Cheese and Eggs
Sam's PO-TA-TOES
Riverfolk Baked Clams Casino
Blackened Balrog Beef Skewers
Gollum's (forgot the taste of) Bread

This will take me some time, but if it works out....THAT is what I will show Grayson.  Daddy's Edit.

Well grabbing coffee is always available, and summer is always a big time for post.  If you have legit FCP skills, especially on the organizational side, you stand a good chance of finding work as a Post PA, Logger, Digitizer, or even Assistant Editor with enough digging.  If you have broadcast credits, a Junior Editor spot might even be possible.

Craigslist is ok for some work.  I would look at Production Notices LA, realitystaff.com, mandy.com, entertainmentcareers.net, and crew-net.com.  If there is a specific company or post house you want to work at, feel free to give them a call yourself and solicit.  Worst case scenario, they say no.  Can't hurt.

There's always debate on the greatest script of all time.  Many say Chinatown, other Butch and Sundance, and Casablanca stands out.  I absolutely maintain that the script for BttF deserves mention as a contemporary with those scripts.  An argument can be made for top 10, easy.

Essentially making the PT a big-ass flashback sequence. I wish somebody would create a 2 hour version of the PT with just the essential bits, built for showing someone between 'Empire' and 'Jedi'.

Challenge accepted.  Great side project for the new year.  You've heard me wax philosophic on the craft that is Editing for 2+ years, now it's time to get down and funky.  If it sucks, it will just be more internet wanking, eating up cyber space.  If it works, this could be my Gray Album.

Between this and One More Round, the short I'm Editing and doing fight choreo on, this is definitely a "Put my money where my mouth is," year for me.

One correction:

The Hall of the Mountain King sequence was NOT shot in tilt shift.  Nor was it motivated by Fincher wonkery.  Long story short, they shot at the real Henly-on-Thames event but they were not allowed to put their actors in the water.  Nor were they allowed to change the scoreboard in crowd shots, or add anything saying "2004" on it. Early on they knew that many of those shots would have to be composits. They also needed  the scene to tell 2 story points at the same time: 1) Facebook goes international, and 2) The Winklevi decide to sue.  So they needed the scene but they needed to get over some real logistical issues.

Fincher decided to shoot elements and layer them, and do a shallow defocus entirely in post to essentially blur out any incriminating evidence.  It produced a tilt shift like effect, but absolutely none of it was done in camera, nor was it conceived as such when they shot.  The directive to use the music was Fincher's choice, and he and Trent went back and forth on the interpretation.  The blu-ray does a side by side comparison of the original track and its...startling.

I want to ammend that I now fully endorse the Drew McWeeny Film Nerd 2.0 Method.  In that order it goes:

Star Wars
Empire Strikes Back
The Phantom Menace
Attack of the Clones
Revenge of the Sith
Return of the Jedi.

Read his Film Nerd 2.0 articles over at Hitfix for a truly engaging log of his sons journey through the SW universe.  It made me rethink the prequels to a degree.  They're not...y'know good, still, but for a young audience the reveals can actually be accentuated when shown in that order.

Since there was no question posed, I'll answer the same question before asking mine.

Intense doesn't equate screaming for me, and with that in mind, Brando's "Look what they've done to my boy." from Godfather is haunting.  There's so much more he wants to say, but can't for a number of reasons.

What was the movie/book/album that truly expanded your taste?  That was different than anything you ever saw/heard and turned you onto a new way of thinking.

I think some things that were a bit too long for the anniversary shows, like the best picture nom reviews and the bake off review are ideal intermission material.
