That trailer is the first thing I've seen of TMNT.. should be said, I have precisely ZERO prior involvement with TMNT whatsoever... and I expected to hate it... and I ... didn't.
It's not great and I probably won't end up seeing it regardless, but the humour had some good moments, I was actually laughing at a couple jokes in there. The turtles look better in motion than they do in stills, although they still look really Cg whether that's just rushed work for the trailer or legit product who knows. Shredder does look pretty badass though. Megan Fox still can't act her way of a wet paper bag, one line out of her mouth and was already ready to check out, so there's that.
Teague/Chloe, I love you guys, I just want you to know this, that made my fucking day. Made. My. Day.
And yep... that's exactly what I was going for.
And thanks Zarban & Darth! Looking forward to it.
I'm working on a infomercial style short film for Bullskit Comedy, and I need to simulate a studio audience joining in on the main catch phrase of the product. So I need just a ton of different voices that I can layer to make a big audience feel. Which means I need some help
It's super super simple, all I need you to do is record yourself saying the word "Bag!" in a really upbeat and studio audience-y sort of way. You can record it as many times as you want in as many different voices as you want, the more variety the better. By the end of it, you won't be able to pick out any one voice in particular, it'll just be a general mishmash of voices
If you want to help out I would need your recording by July 9th, and you would have my unending love and admiration. You can send the files to ZangrethorDigital@gmail.com.
Thanks everyone!
Here's a buttload (202 images) of BTS and concept art etc for Alien. There's some familiar stuff, but there's also plenty that is completely new to me. So cool!
Yeah, let's not pretend that quality (or perceived quality) will have ANY impact on box office here. There's no way this isn't the biggest movie of all time.
I have to agree. Even people I know who couldn't care less about Star Wars in general, KNOW about the Disney buyout, and have at least some awareness of the new movies and series.
The Disney buyout added a MASSIVE element of unknown to the entire equation, people with even a passing interest in Star Wars (Which is pretty much the majority of the entire population of planet earth let's be honest here) are curious to see what is going to happen to Star Wars, what it's going to look like.
Most of those people aren't going to give a shit about puppets, or JJ, or sets or prequels vs OT vs New trilogy or even the almighty tomatometer.... but it's Disney making Star Wars, they'll be curious, and they'll go see it.
I love this place sometimes.
I mean damn good work people.
No but seriously Avatar, tell us how much you actually hate JJ. No need to hold back here.
As I said in the chat at the end of the stream, I'm not vibrationally excited, but definitely optimistic about what's coming.
That said. The instant a proper R-rated, Darth Maul centric spin-off is announced I will be bouncing off the fucking walls.
Eeerrrggaaah. I am so flippin tempted right now, but with shipping it's way out of what I can afford right now
Ooooh, damn you woman that is a solid gif choice right there.
GIMMEEGIMMEEGIMMEEGIMMEEGIMMEEGIMMEEGIMMEEGIMMEEGIMMEEGIMMEE
Depending on how much it would cost to print it/ship it this way I'd be interested rather soonish.
The CinemaSins/Honest Trailers people have demonstrated time and time again that this is how they think films should be looked at..
I'm really curious where this came from. Is there some sort of "outside their videos" ranting going on that I don't know about, or is it just because they keep making those really successful video series that I'm sure are making them a fair bit of money? And that people keep watching because they enjoy watching them?
Oh boy, yeah. I was watching the music video for The Goonies yesterday, and on the sidebar was a video entitled "Everything wrong with The Goonies in 8 minutes or less".
It was 10 minutes and 46 seconds long.
[Tina Fey eyeroll]
edit: [Tina Feyeroll]
Clearly you've never actually bothered to watch the thing you're hating on as there is typically at least 2+ minutes of random funny dubbed clips from the movie after the actual Sins tally.
And seriously, why...no...how on earth could anyone actually think CinemaSins was trying to be some great bastion of Cinema critique? It's funny, it's exagerated, you laugh at it, and maybe there's one or two things along the way that have some legit merit and you hadn't thought of before.
Just finished the model butterfly for the short I'm filming next weekend.
That wasn't meant to be a put down. We all have our movies that are like that, except Dorkman, Dorkman knows no joy of childhood, I will love Space Jam and George of The Jungle til I day I die. But if you want to have this conversation, you may as well just call it what it is.
There isn't actually some deep rooted truth of the universe buried in any of these movies that you're the only one that can see, (Except Space Jam, Space Jam knows all things, Space Jam is life, Space Jam is love) they are movies that got put into our lives at just the right time by one circumstance or another, for them to be permanently coded into the joy parts of our brain and then hardwired. Nothing wrong with that, but that's still what it is.
I re-watched The goonies because someone my age said that it doesn't hold up. I found this to be saddening since I love the Goonies. I took to my trusty PS3 and hit play and immediately knew that it was pointless. I knew the movie too much and it was watching it with all the love and smiles that I had when I was a younger.
That being said I wasn't MAD about this, because I love the movie. When I started talking about it to my buddy who said it doesn't hold up he claimed it was dated. I said and, he said that's what took him out of it. At which point I just sort of through his ramblings away. Mostly because it is dated, it was made in the 80s, but it doesn't give a date in which it takes place it just is.
Or am I missing something? I still really love that movie even when they added the extra couple of scenes they cut out from before, although the octopus does look ridiculous so I understand the cut. Are there just movies that always get a pass for you?
Nostalgia (noun): a wistful desire to return in thought or in fact to a former time in one's life, to one's home or homeland, or to one's family and friends; a sentimental yearning for the happiness of a former place or time
Or...see quote above.
I love how compactly that thing folds up, blows my mind. I've used a jib once or twice but it is not portable at all.
Yeah, the compactness was basically what sold me on it. I can literally throw it in a backpack, and barely feel the weight. Once I figure out the couple of small stability niggles I mentioned it should be great.
I already figured out the tripod screw one. There's actually two 1/4" camera screw holes on either side of the 3/8" tripod screw, and I discovered my tripod actually came with an extra camera screw, so I've just got both of those in there, seems to be much more sturdy, I'll have to actually put the whole system together to be sure tho.
All in all, very pleased so far.
Stannis is the only one who actually pays attention to the one true threat the Seven Kingdoms are facing: what's coming from the North. That's what makes his arrival badass in the books, but the way it was handled in the show was a bit underwhelming.
Yeeeaaah, a dull character isn't going to get a pass from me because he happens to notice something happening. If he did ANYTHING for the first 9 episodes of this season I might feel differently, but he was a dull character for 9 episodes and then did something in the last episode that either wasn't established or I managed to accidentally sleep through the setup for. And the few things he does "do". going to Braavos... um... I'm sure there are others, HE doesn't actually do anything, Davos does all the talking, Davos goes and finds the pirates, the Red Woman...looks sultry and... I'm sure she does other stuff too. The sum total of Stannis this season has been him looking stern in the background, saying a half a line, and then whinning like a child "Shuuuut uuuup, I totally am the real King of Westeros guuuys."
He's not interesting to watch and I have absolutely zero interest in anything happening in his plotline. Maybe there's a really great character that somehow got buried under all that, but whoever that guy is, he's not on screen.
Anyways... just so this post isn't completely negative.
The skeleton fight was flipping amazing, the Hound-Brienne fight was intense, Arya is going down a very very dark path and I love it (Since Maisie did her interview about how she really hopes people will see where she's going and realize it's not good, and not just continue to love her cause "Awe, it's Arya, we love Arya." I've been looking forward to seeing where she's going.", the small scene between John and the wildling captive (can't remember his name) about Ygritte was really really well done, Tyrion going Terminator mode was amazing, I was really hoping he'd go full terminator for a bit, take out half the family and then dissappear, but alas.
Like I said before, there's some really really great scenes, but taken as a whole it just felt lacking for a season finale.
...instead of the "fuck yeah Stannis" moment it should be.
Wait...are we supposed to be cheering for Stannis?? He's dull and an asshole, worse than that he's a dull asshole. If you asked me to tell you Stannis's plotline, I would get about as far as "Dull guy looks out on grey landscape and moans about not being king." Before I run out of things to say. The only thing that makes his entire storyline worth anything is Davos and the Red Woman, and even she isn't actually doing anything these days outside of staring mysteriously at random people and then disappearing.
Between virtually every book reader I know sniggering to themselves and telling me they knew exactly what shot was going end this season for the past 4 months, and it was going to blow everyone's mind, I was expecting more.
Don't get me wrong it was another solid episode, and some cool stuff happened, but not anything more than a typical episode really. Clearly there's some hype bias going on here (Thank you for that by the way all you smug motherfucking book readers out there in the world), but it just didn't do anything for me as a season finale, it really feels like there's one more episode where a bunch of these threads are going to get tied together in some epic way, but everyone is just kinda travelling (Hah, get it? Cause at the end of the episode basically everyone is literally just going somewhere else...)
Maybe it'll get better on a rewatch in the future... -shrug-. Looking forward to next season but mostly because it's still a good show not out of any "Holy shit what's gonna happen next??".
Oh, I don't have a problem with people misnaming songs. One of the ticks that lives in my head hates it.
He's got a hell of a kick too. Bloody bastard.
If you take "Be a Man" as an example
Hnng... sorry, one of few really bad ticks just kicked in.
It's called "I'll Make A Man Out Of You" not "Be A Man."
Carry on.
Sequelitis can happen even in a franchise that was never very good.
This needs to be on a t-shirt.
